  1. Try playing with the upper ‘corners’ rather than the point. This is how I use my picks on bass, I also use a .73 (good enough for Bobby Vega).
  2. It sounds HUGE! Impressive build skills there, Sir. 👏👏👏
  3. I remember playing a Vintera P at a show when they were first released, I was very impressed, especially with the neck, a V profile IIRC. The Vintera Mustang is good too. It seems that the top flight MiM (Vinteras and signatures) instruments are extremely good. I haven’t seen any Vinteras recently, supply seems to be poor. Black PG? Oh yes!
  4. Prepare to want one for yourself.
  5. I don’t know about drop ins, but I’d take the opportunity to fit lightweight ones and plug the holes.
  6. No need to justify the extra string when a bass looks that badass.
  7. From something Keef said, it’ll certainly have stuff with Charlie on it, “You’ve not heard the last of Charlie Watts,” or words to that effect. Personally, although not a massive Stones fan, I’d love to hear what the rhythm section of Jones and Jordan might bring to the party.
  8. The marvellous and sadly departed, John Giblin on the bass guitar there. Joan is such a talented songwriter and multi instrumentalist, I don't think a lot of folk realise how much.
  9. A Sassafrass T shirt? Good man!
  10. Bad Dog, No Biscuit - Daron Norwood
  11. Because of the string through body on the JMJ, long or medium scales are the way to go.
  12. I’m stealing that! 🤣
  13. @bassatnight was looking for fretless ‘Ray back in July.
  14. Blazing Apostles - BeBop Deluxe
  15. Heart Like A Wheel - Linda Ronstadt
  16. I've subsequently used it on furniture that was dented when moving house. On the 'does it work on a sealed finish' question, the first move is to try. If it doesn't work, there is a further option for this technique. When I bought my used Rob Allen, there was a ding in the the neck, which is finished in nitro. Rather than just ahead on an expensive instrument, I contacted Rob Allen and he said that if the finish was unbroken, a small score with a razor blade would open up the finish for the steam treatment. It turns out that the finish was broken anyway and the dent lifted and is still fine to this day.
  17. If there's a way to make money, someone will push that way, eventually it becomes ingrained in the human psyche that (insert marketing plan here) is good/great/fantastic/never bettered/the way to go.
  18. Working in a Coalmine - Lee Dorsey
  19. Wherever I Lay My Hat - Marvin/Paul
  20. Strange Fruit - Billie Holliday
  21. I can see that too, but as the neck isn’t under string tension, it’s probably the truss rod relief causing some back bow.
  22. In The City - The Jam
  23. I understand wanting to feel that connection with the bass, but once plugged in, the connection is made with the actual output, you probably won’t feel anything from the body once the backline kicks in. However, if you’re going IEM and ampless, this might still be an issue, in which case something like the Backbeat would be worth investigating. Replacement bridge? ^^^ this. The inverse problem is vibration cancellation due to conflicting waves, as mentioned here… If you’re not vibing (pun unintended) with the instrument, move it on, find another that works better for you.
  24. How Much Is That Doggie In The Window - Patti Page
  25. That’s quite the endorsement from a man who has owned some proper exotica.
