1. Status Trace Elliot T-Bass of any interest to you, Jez? BB
2.
What is ACAF ? Do you mean as opposed to EADG?
The way i play my basses they would as well be tuned that way. BB ps in case u really dont know it is an acronym for the fact i find the bass in quesion a delightful piece of craftsmanship and an exremely desirous commodity which would give any owner an increase in their credibility, independant of their actual talent, and possibly even make them more attractive to members of the opposite sex should such an effect be desired by the player.
3.
Maybe their real owner has spotted them?
BB SSSHHHH! I will say this only once........there is a nice wenge fretted one from an ordinary seller now on eBay.
4. Has been taken down now as has the Dolphin. BB
5. Ooooh, a bolt on with a nice shallow cutaway heel, lovely! And more knobs than a porno! What's the weight like on this? I love a Jazz type body but most are quite large for my slight frame. BB
6.
This is the Sandberg bass, called the 'Tube Machine'
Interesting! You sure that isn't photoshopped! A 3 pick-up case - not too many of them about, the MM Big Al (Marmite effect) and Stu Hamm Fender spring to mind. The controls dont seem very accessible on that. Was/Is that commercially available do you know? BB
7. I was about to ask if this idea had ever been commercially marketed and I am surprised that Sandberg had done it. I never quite grasped valves in the power vs tone area. I know older amps have post and pre amp valve sections and the newer ones tend to have just pre-amp so I guess this is trying to emulate the latter. Had been asking the troops for opinions on an 70s simms-watts all valve bass amp earlier. You always associate miniatuarisation with ICs rather than valves - is this a recent developement? BB
8. That is a PITA! I can see your order under the GB/custom list and although its quite specific and custom to the max I find the lack of contact with you astonishing! Just shows a fancy website dont mean much! hope it all works out. BB
9.
Hi everyone, Returned to playing bass after a long (long!) break. I'm strictly a 'living room' player; it's one of the best ways of chilling out I know. Cheers, Rob
Nothing wrong with that, Mate. Live? Been there, done it, sold the T-shirt Welcome to the world of BC! BB
10. Being an insufferable bass snob I have an unhealthy Gassing for the Warwick Jack Bruce LE - but £3K FFS! How good can that be? BB
11.
Hi. Don't really get this but yeh....
Hey! What's to get? It's bass and it's chat! C'mon in! The waters lovely!!! BB
12.
The Wynd Centre (School Wynd) and ask for Hutton. I can offer a cup of coffee and a scone.
Ha Ha! I know the Wynd centre, I'm only over in Houston! Can I get a scone too ? BB
13. Welcome young BT! Its always good to have another celt in the ranks! Always amazes me that Fenders are still the weapon of choice in the 21st Century! They must be doin' something right! BB
14. That is ACAF! Do you finger it or use a plectrum? I assume u plec it cos the lighter string is on top, so to speak? have u tried it strung the other way? BB
15. Manchester is quite central for a lot of people IMO but the listing seems to 'discourage' cash/pick-up. BB
16. Alex would be the man to call for that route! I was surprised when i found out the 'proper matching' cab for the Fender 135 bassman top was hopeless and I have seen nice set-ups with a custom built cab with proper cloth/grill and logo added. BB
17. Contact Jimmy Moon, Glasgow - he doesn't do them himself but will have a guy who does Jimmy Moon Jimmy Egypt at CC music,Glasgow Jim Egypt BB
18. He'll be on Nose-Pick of the Week soon! Geddit? Geddit? ...............aah screw it. At least I tried! BB
19. I am sure i read recently of people offering a system of 'buying' + feedback or setting up a system to boost it but cant think where it was. Never rely on just the figure anyway, always have a good poke about. Is it me or are s/h Fender prices falling generally (possibly in line with everything else)? BB
20.
It would be nice to have a board for use of the bass community, where notes could be stuck up, categories could be e.g. 'bassists wanted / available / lessons'. Cards put on the board should be only by your agreement, then dated and removed when clearly out-of-date. You do have to monitor these to avoid the board filling up with junk flyers for gigs etc.
i remember getting a few gigs off the board in MacCormacks music, Bath St. they used to be the ONLY place for gibson, fender etc in west of Scotland never mind Glasgow. Biggars for a cello and Thompsons for a Grand Piano!!! BB
21. Ha Ha! Don't worry, its not for live work or anything (gave that up a long time ago) I am more of an enthusiast/collector now ( ie more money than talent) and i toy with the idea of getting amps to complement basses of a certain period I started a thread about this a while ago but it fizzled out So I have a 70s Wal and soon a Shergold, hopefully (i used to have 4 and foolishly sold them) and lookingfor a nice 70's brit amp to go with them. But obviously you dont think this is the one then? BB
22. i used to f*ckin' love smoking on stage! Made me look cool, Right? Wheeze.wheeze...... BB
23.
what are ashtrays?
Hang your head in shame! just kidding - i've learnt lots of things on BC - they are the bridge covers - in old days when smoking was allowed bassists would take the bridge cover and use it as an ashtray (on stage usually) and subsequently lose them. here endeth the lesson..... BB
24. Anyone tell me about this little beauty? Particularly suggestions for an appropriate cab for it? HERE BB
