OK, I can imagine how a bass may have its neck smashed (couple of those on ebay right now). But who took all the pole pieces out of the bridge pickup, and why? I have an irrational like of Aria IGB-68 basses. I've never played one, and they are just one bass among many. But I just like them for no reason I can explain. (Except perhaps that they look cool and have good reviews). But there's no rational reason for me watch-listing them, which I automatically do. They sometimes sell for bargain amounts on ebay, Or at least, IMHO bargain. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/aria-bass-guitar-/321187788004?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4ac848b4e4

Someone is selling a refinished Wishbass with a BIN of US$1200. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Fretless-4-String-Bloodwood-Standard-Wishbass-KA-Humbucker-Free-Ship-in-48-/130970075246?pt=Guitar&hash=item1e7e6cc06e Somehow I don't quite think it will reach those heights.

This one looks to be better finished. Except, is that a coffee stain on the back of the neck? Is this made from a single piece of wood, apart from the headstock? Least precise precision bass ever?
Why oh why did I open that link?
Were you assuming that my comment that it looks like a big turd was hyperbole? -
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4611ffd653 Interesting bridge. The whole instrument looks near identical to a Traben Array, but is branded by a Peterborough guitar shop. It would be interesting if there was a UK Rondo equivalent that labelled up some inexpensive instruments, but he shop has no own-label basses at the moment, and their own-label guitar range doesn't look that exciting. At one point it looked as if Gear4Music might start their own label with their 'Black Knight' instruments. But, their range doesn't appear to be expanding that much.
That is just so 'orrid, I wish I hadn't looked.
Do you think it looks more like a pool of sick? Or a turd? The very beautiful bass in your signature shows that you are a connoisseur of attractive basses, and I can well imagine you strongly disapproving of the bass on ebay. -
There used to be a form of fraud on ebay. People would pay for collection only items by paypal. They would go and collect the item. Upon returning home, they would open an 'item not received' case. The seller would be asked to provide proof of delivery, which they couldn't, and the buyer would get refunded. They'd then have the item, and the money. I don't know to what degree this actually happened, but it was certainly discussed a lot in the ebay community. I've only ever paid for a collection only item by paypal once. And that was a simple mistake on my part.

Not Bad for an £80 Bass...(Video..Excuse the playing)
Annoying Twit replied to ZenBasses's topic in General Discussion
The 370 differs only in that it has active onboard electronics so, even more bass for your money
Thanks. It seems that they quite often sell for quite cheap prices. E.g. £62 here. That's throwaway money for a bass. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3384044f05 Edit: After thinking a bit, I'm now fairly sure that the fretless bass I played was a RBX260F. -

How does the RBX370 compare to the 270? One sold near to me for £50. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-rbx-/271252885415?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3f27ee8fa7 @FlatEric. I have only played one fretless bass ever. Perhaps that should be 'played'. It was a Yamaha lined fretless, but I don't think it was an RBX. My humble opinion was that I loved it, and found it very surprisingly great to play. It was in a general second hand store and was £120 or so, but I thought that someday I'll pick up a MIJ lined fretless. -
Cheap Squier Silver Series MIJ on eBay
Annoying Twit replied to Ghost Rider's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
If I had seen that in time, I so would have BIN'd it immediately. Even though I don't particularly want to buy another bass right now. -
I'm not going to build myself a bass - I didn't even get around to putting together a ukelele kit I bought from Thomann. However, it seems to me that an EUB of this sort must be the easiest self-build ever. I'd guess that both the Wish EUB and the Ergo EUB won't have truss rods. So, you need a big hunk of maple, presumably using a scarf joint for the headstock. You slap on a fingerboard and radius it. Add nut, tuners, and piezo bridge, and voila! Oh, and stick on the heel of an old stiletto shoe. I do like the idea of having a Wishbass, if one dropped into my lap at a very low price. But I must admit that I was surprised at how rough this EUB is, even for a Wishbass. Edit: Somebody bought it, at full BIN price it seems.

I'm certainly finding it useful on six-string so far. It's shocking when I find things that seem simple, but I can't do. E.g. I can't play rapid repeated notes with a pick. (I never really got used to using a pick, I prefer fingers). But I'm following the software's recommended exercises, and have noticed an improvement already. However, I have some issues with the software. Fortunately, I know a reasonable amount of music theory and hence can defend myself. But the exercises teach you to play stuff, without (yet?) giving enough of a description of why you're doing what you're doing. I can recognise that a scale is being used or that something is a fill or a riff. Those who don't know guitar may not notice such. Also, I'm finding the software a bit too easily satisfied. It was very surprising just how badly I can play one of the technical challenges, but I still get a gold medal. The tuner seems a bit too easily satisfied too. My game-playing non-musician son was asking me why I was playing some of the challenges over and over when I had already obtained a gold medal on them. Perhaps gamers would tend to rush through a bit quickly. Also, I find the method of describing notes a bit odd, and it's taking me time to learn that.Sometimes it takes me a fair while to learn something because I can't read the real-time notes coming at me on the screen. I'd be interested if you could discuss your experiences concerning these points. But overall I think the software is very good, provided the user knows enough to avoid various traps. Even though I've used it for over an hour today, I really want to get off the internet and have another go right now.

I note that there are no threads on Rocksmith on this forum. (There are plenty on TalkBass). So, does anyone have any opinions on it? I've purchased it, but have only used the six string mode. I'm continuing with conventional, non-PS3, practice on bass.

Now this is how to photograph and describe a bass!

Mr Congeniality. And he doesn't post a picture of the bass -

Aria Pro II fretless. I've seen these come up before and sell for about this amount. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aria-Pro-II-fretless-Bass-made-in-Japan-/400549153052?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5d4297091c -
One thing that has always bugged me about these instruments is the absolute lack of care and attention put into drilling the holes for the through body stringing. They're all over the place. I'd happily pay $50 more for him to take his time over this bit - it's absolutely infuriating to me.
I've noted that in some of the youtube videos where people show off their refinished wishbasses. They quite often mention having to fill in the holes and re-drill them.
I did a quick estimate on time and materials, and I'd charge about £250 to do a finish like the one on my Wishbass.
Is there a finish thread concerning this Wishbass on this forum somewhere?
At least they're honest We keep our prices down by using the absolute minimum finish
And effective. £192 or £225 for a working hand-made bass BIN price in the states.
He wont post himself, he does not mind if the buyer sorts the courier. Whoever organises the courier bears the responsibility in case of lost/damages.
I'm not sure this is how ebay's procedures work. As far as I'm aware, if the bass arrives in pieces, the buyer will be able to start and most likely win a SNAD appeal. Are there examples of ebay siding with the seller in a situation like this? -

And they've even started with a low starting bid so that it a guaranteed sale. EDIT: Arrgghhh!!!! Of course after I post I see the bit down the bottom where he disclaims responsibility if the bass is damaged in the post.
