I have a strong feeling of deja vu with this one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Shaftsbury-bass-guit...=item1e623a47c3

Maya bass. Looks pretty nice, and with the original hard case might even be worth up to half, or at least a third of, what the seller is asking for it. Ibanez Jazz. Very low starting price. Low enough such that the current price will be meaningless in the long run I would think. Even with the weirdo half-baked repairs. For those that wish that Sue Ryder did a Jazz bass....... http://leicester.gumtree.com/leicester/23/75300723.html Edit: When did Affinity Jazz basses start selling for £180-200 brand new? These new prices make this one look like a bargain. Trouble is, I don't personally want an Affinity Jazz Bass. Surely someone does..... Edit: Nice review of the Squier Affinity Jazz Bass here. But, even if it's a bargain, I don't need one. http://theguitarreview.com/2006/03/squier-...-long-term.html

This is from the US. I only post it here to say that I've never heard of a "Global" bass before. I presume that it's a local label job, like Antoria or Lincoln in the UK. Triumph bass. "MIJ Gibson" it says. Copy it is. Interesting looking beast though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-1970s-Vintage-L...=item2eb3a989ec Edit: The seller is also selling some "retro" jackets. That look like they would go quite well with the bass. -

If others can post Italian stuff, it's only fair that I can too. Look at the huge clunky tuners on this thing. It looks sorta funky and cool to me somehow though. I won't be able to answer your question, but what do you want it for. You already have a nice looking Jazz, as shown in your avatar. Would the Jim Deacon be a backup? Would it be a cheapie for a project? My only experience with a Jim Deacon instrument was trying out a six string LP clone. It was OK, but switching to a Tokai ALS48, which is still a fairly low end LP clone, it seemed that the Tokai was a better instrument.
looks ok to me ross. you never can tell with photos. though a few things i noticed straight away. the poorly fitted nut and the treble side of the top has a join. the headstock still has marker pen on the edge, why? also the spelling of middle (midden?) bothers me (a little picky maybe, but a bit careless and doesn't instill confidence). also if it's designed in uk, why is it located in germany. it seems that as a 'prototype' it has remained unfinished in certain aspects. no doubt you could bring it up to spec with a little work, but if it has these slight defecst on the surface, whats going on inside?
Yes. That's one of the reasons that I wouldn't buy one as it's an unknown quantity, and some of the other German internet sourced cheapies have been of variable quality according to people who've bought one. but, I just like the visual design. -

This one looks really nice IMHO, though I think it's an "internet cheapie". I like the selection of woods. I like the overall design. I like the headstock. I like the subtle fretboard lines and dots. I even like the look of the logo, which is often poorly done in cheap basses. And I like the design of the hard case. Asking prices for Westones seem to have gone up a lot. I would have thought £100 for this Concord II bass: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Concord-II-b...=item43a489ea30 Over time we'll see what has happened to selling prices. If anything. -

The people on the "Other Les Pauls" forum on www.mylespaul.com have extensive experience of the people selling guitars (and basses) from Japan. Might be worth searching there, or asking a question. -

Not worth while waiting and coming back or planning or anything for a lowball.
looks nice enough 'n cheap enough? http://brighton.gumtree.com/brighton/30/74312730.html
Wow! I've seen some MIJ Fender Strats go for that little, but never a P Bass. And, the P Bass has a Hiscox case too! I don't want to sound cynical, but I did wonder briefly if it was a relabelled Squier. But, if it is a MIJ Squier, surely it would still be a bargain?
