It was this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370826512402?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=640092141089&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT String spacing is just too wide to make it a simple one for one swap, but nothing that can't be sorted.
That's a bit cheaper than the Babicz!
Yup, just a little! I expected to have to do a bit of tweaking but to be fair it was fine straight out the packet. No doubt it is one of a million made somewhere in china but then so is the epiphone one probably. At £12 I can hardly lose a lot after all.
I've been following your 'rescue' thread with interest. Which replacement bridge have you fitted?
I got a 'Wilkinson' brand one off eBay for a heavy total of £12, it's the same dimensions as a standard Fender one so plenty of options available to upgrade once I have everything worked out.

Earth shattering, earthquake inducing, borderline brown noise, wall wobblingly loud, bowel accident inducing, Ok so not all of these were serious but.....

I am at exactly the same point but have the advantage of having two EB3s, one was given to me off here because it was split nearly in two, I have repaired that and decided to use it as a base to test out some ideas. I have fitted a cheap but fully adjustable bridge and will see how it goes once I have all the electrics working (sadly they were appalling so need a complete overhaul - factory stuff is disgraceful in my opinion). I did a quick test but with only the bridge pick up working and it seems that the bridge pickup is incredibly sensitive to string location. The new bridge has moved the string positions of the E and G by about 1.2mm and that seems enough to cause them to be very quiet. There are ways around this and I will start working on it as soon as I have all the electrics up and running properly.

Having left the paint to go off for a couple of weeks the rebuild and tweaking has started in earnest. I still need to resolver the pickups back in so won't be able to properly test it until then. I had to shim out the bridge a little to take into account the change in design. The action is gorgeously low at the moment but I will need to fire it up properly to determine if I can get away with it that low or not. Brand new dials have arrived from China and will be fitted once I have tested everything. I also turned up a new pickup selector aperture cover out of nylon66 as the previous one died due to the enormous crack. The paint has come up well but still needs a real good dose of wax to get it properly gleaming. One thing I have learnt is that the lacquer takes an age to go off and still isn't properly hard unfortunately. Possibly an area for me to examine for the next build.
I tend not to listen to radio stations that play this sort of thing. I tend to hate most of what they play.
Even still, it has been around a long time and used on a lot of adverts, tv programs etc.
Just heard what is probably the worst I've heard in a while. I think it's called thunder, by AC/DC. Boring, cliched and the vocal was like finger nails down a blackboard.
You have only just heard it? It was released in 1990 and wasnt cliched when released, may have been copied since.......

Aren't they just stored as patches? So you can choose your three and save as A1 then select another three and save as A2 etc, it saves individual settings for each effect within the patch.
I've got a feeling I'm going to dislike most of the suggestions.
me too, that part of the reason for asking in a perverse way after saying on the other thread how much I hate mustang sally. -
I have been playing fir less time than you and have found playing with others to be the biggest help. So far it has been adapted covers, well known tracks but always tweaked one way or another. At first it was the much more experienced guitarist saying trybthis or that but increasingly I will know what to do to make it sound right. I can't put my finger on why, but I just seem to know when it sounds right. I would love to know the theory behind why but for know I am just enjoying playing. I also mess about with sections I know and try to blend them with other things or add my own twist. Sometimes it works well, others not so much.....
Anything Donald Fagen really, most boring, lifeless tunes, bereft of any energy or joy.
Is he related to Leonard Cohen by any chance?

Have you looked on eBay? The only problem I had was knowing what to put in to narrow down the search. I assume they are standard 6mm splined fittings?
Would have been if it wasn't for that bastard...
but where did he come from and where did he go?
-
Yeeha!
Oh no, it's obviously too late for you, were you married a long time ago by any chance?
Fair enough. It was the best traditional version of the song I could find on YouTube. The others all seem to be instrumentals or dodgy recordings of scratchy old vinyl.
I feel really bad now, if my post made you search through all the different versions then I am partly to blame for your suffering, no apology could suffice. I hope no long term damage has occurred. If you start twitching and lifting your leg randomly whilst holding your belt loops you will know it's got to you.
Which version? While I agree that this one is pretty awful http://youtu.be/VcDy8HEg1QY There's a certain energy about this version. http://youtu.be/IZvpHwoQfqk
It is even worse, it seems to be relying on the crowd looking at the girls and ignoring the utter pap being played. Very sad.

Cotton eye joe would take some bearing. Again it's a novelty record and I defended star trekkin earlier but there is no justification for cotton eye joe.

Anywhere good to get food near the Manchester arena?
T-Bay replied to T-Bay's topic in General Discussion
Completely forgot about this, thanks to traffic we ended up with about twenty minutes so phoned ahead and got Dominos pizza from about 20m from the entrance. It was poor if I am honest but if anyone is stuck I doubt there is anywhere closer. -
Any suggestions at all for decent shortscale strings?
