Just don't get this "owned by (insert famous name)" guff. It's a mass produced instrument. The magic was in JJ's fingers and brain, not a piece of wood with bits of metal stretched along its length. JJ would have made magic with a Satellite copy. The only good thing is that a famous player's family sometimes gets to make a bit out of these sales. Other than that, it's bullshit.
Theres this "ex Pino Palladino" precision or jazz hanging on eBay for like £15k... waiting for "the right buyer" I guess :-)

I don't necessarily want that tone, I definitely can't play like that. I am just curious what has the biggest influence on that particular tone. It gets me. I am talking about bass solo (the bassline seems to be slapped) on this track: https://pendofsky.ba...ack/psychobaton The bass he's using is 70's Jolana Diamant (?) from Czechoslovakia I think.

Playing AC/DC songs in a different key - Do they work?
PawelG replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I think this is something very brave that you are trying to do. I love AC/DC and I'm actually quite curious what that would sound like in different keys (trying to be as optimistic as possible! :-) ) Good luck. -

My JV is not selling... And I have bought too many basses recently. So, this Precision is as good as my 1983 JV. The pickups seem a bit ''hotter'', there is A LOT of bottom end and the sound is very woody. Come and hear it for yourself if you can. You can try it out on a little Ampeg combo or 70's Fender Bassman 100 with matching cab (this is for limited time only). The bass is in great condition, has been used a lot but cared for. Usual marks here and there, nothing major. The frets might need polishing in the near(ish) future. Frets 1 to 7 have marks on them already (picutred), the rest is almost perfect. Action is really low and there is no buzz anywhere. Currently strung with flatwound D'Addario Chromes. I tried to picture all the imperfections, please message me if you need any more detail. Comes with a Fender strap, real celluloid 62PB pickguard and a spare white pickguard. Weight is just under 4kg/8.8lb Nut width - 40mm I can send it, or deliver within a reasonable distance from Southsea - PM for details.
I never knew that bass playing required being "classified". The playing in the clip either floats your boat or it does not. It would be a boring old world if we all liked the exact same things. Personally, I thought the playing was skilful, but not my cup of tea.
That is exactly why I opened the thread - to hear opinions about this particular clip. Insanely fast and I totally understand some people my love the whole thing, some people my find something interesting, inspiring, whatever. I did not mean to take anything away from Mr. Pilichowski, I think he is a monster bass player. And please forgive me about the sarcasm in the title, it was late and obviously did not work as intended :-)
Me too. But a bass guitar is just a musical instrument - how people choose to use it is up to them. Life's rich tapestry and all that...
Yes, that's the beauty in this whole thing called music.
Why does bass playing have to have groove? Personally groove comes way down in my list of what makes something interesting.
This is really interesting. To me, being able to keep a solid groove in the pocket is the reason I started playing bass.
Technically good but no tune or feel from it. Just fast playing. That's ok to show off in music shop when trying a bass out (well to be honest it bores me a bit when i hear it in shops) I would rather hear a nice flowing bass line to a rapid fire as many notes in a minute bass line. Afraid i've never really got the Mark King thing to be honest. Prefer Allain Caron. I guess i'm old school too. Dave
Exactly. As stated above though - he is a very capable and soulful player if needed. Nothing but respect to him. I just wanted to see what you think about this particular video where he's a bit fast :-)

I thought the sarcasm in the title was quite obvious.
Don't think many girls will be up dancing to this. Technically still bass playing but I sure won't be going to see him or buy any of the records.
It's very impressing technically, but doesn't make too much sense to me musically.

She'd probably let it go for £280. Do you guys think it's a US model? -

Which courier company was this sent through? Some would not accept this due to insufficient packaging. Also, as stated above - packaging like that won't work for you if the item gets damaged. Even though it might be better than cardboard in some cases. Personally, I like to wrap the bass In bubble wrap/stretch, put it in the case, wrap the case and put it in cardboard box. Another stretch and then some fragile tape on it. I seem to sleep well after I send a bass like that. I don't think I would if it was only wrapped like yours. Glad it arrived safely :-)
