  1. If you're really looking for a low powered tone machine, consider a small valve head like the Ashdown CTM 30 / Little Bastard and a One10 Barefaced cab. Other contenders are the Ampeg PF20 or 50.
  2. It wont be super loud through a single Two10 but through a 4X10 it'll easily be loud enough. The handbox 100 WB (actually 120W) is a good option .
  3. "only" 100W is not to be sneezed at for a valve head, especially through an efficient cabinet.
  4. I think that's banned form basschat, along with discussing amp heftness
  5. Wait till you read the “what puts you off” thread . 😂😂😂. I hate maple, I think it’s great etc etc etc .
  6. Or how to start a row on 'tinterweb.
  7. Its one of those first world problems people complain about in the bass world. I used to obsess about things like high mass bridges and neck thru bodies until I realized all my bass heroes all played either passive P or Jazz basses, usually factory standard gear and that its all in the technique and basically being a good player. A bad carpenter blames his tools and all that.
  8. I went to see them in concert a few years ago and Chris Squire was still alive, they had a different singer though. I was very impressed by their musicianship but it seemed very self indulgent. Apart from a few of the hits I found it a bit tiresome. My buddy was late arriving to the gig at the start of one song he left the venue to get a bag of fish and chips, when he returned they were still on the same song, true story.
  9. It's actually really hard to age an instrument naturally if you take any reasonable care of the instrument, even if gigged heavily.
  10. I expect a full report !
  11. My little home set-up
  12. I’m beginning to think it’s probably less risky to use a subwoofer with a built in crossover
  13. As far as I know the tops are general purpose 300w pa speakers , if the additional powered bass cab would give the overall sound a little “push” I’d be happy enough
  14. I had a Carlsbro 50 Top guitar head and that sounded great with bass. A lot of people dont realize you can get that valve tone with bass using a guitar head so long as the transformers in the amp are up to it.
  15. Quick Question, I've an 800W / 4 ohm oldish Schroeder cabinet, could this be repurposed as a woofer to accustom PA tops. I have an 800W thomann power amp. Would I just destroy the drivers with kick drum etc?
  16. With regards to the Bugera, do you think it has enough bass response?
  17. Its Ashdown, they recommend (required) JJ valves. I reckon its because the are manufactured in Slovakia and are apparently more reliable, everything is rebranded and made in China or Russia.
  18. I work as a Chemist in a medical device company so music is just my release and thankfully I don't rely on it financially, however I must say I really really miss playing live music to folks.
  19. I think I remember Alex saying it doesn't make any difference what way you stack them. I generally stack them horizontally as I have mostly big valve heads .
  20. Second vote , the “four” series very complimentary to valve heads
  21. It’s looks wicked cool, best of luck man
  22. I dont see many BVV3000s going for sale. I heard that they were just not cost effective to produce so they were discontinued. I dont even see second hand ones coming up that much. I suspect they went wrong and weren't worth fixing. I remember it as being fairly solidly put together though. Not knowing anything about electronics I recall the innards being mostly standard PCBs...but you can say that about a lot of expensive amps also.
  23. Maybe get a V4-B ?
  24. I bought a Bugera BVV3000, essentially an SVT knockoff...I feared it was just going to fail so I sold it on before anything went wrong with it. Sounded marvelous though.
  25. I don't really like the look of the front of it, that aluminium/chrome control plate and the knobs look as cheap as chips but that's just cosmetics. But still...4 x EL34s. My favorite valve.
