  1. I agree , I think the best examples are the fender Pino precision bass and the sandberg Roquefort soft aged bass (I love these) they just wouldn’t look as good brand new. I’m not a fan of heavy relics just enough for the bass to feel “played in”
  2. It’s because bass players are the least precious members of the band 😂
  3. About Eastwood in general . I’m hearing a lot of mixed reviews about the quality of their stuff...they’re not the cheapest either . I nearly got their classic 4 And was considering their Warren Ellis bass I’m just nervous of the build quality of them
  4. Mark Gooday services traces now
  5. The 801 is a great little amp. I actually played 2 gigs with it unsupported in a noisy pub. OK is was an acousticey gig but it still held its own and it’s ridiculously portable .
  6. I’ve used a multitude of amps over 30 years and I’m now playing through ashdowns exclusively.
  7. I’m the total opposite, would pick a baseball bat neck now any day
  8. I really dont like the look of the Lakland Skyline body at all. It looks like a bass that ate too many pork pies. G&L basses in general i think look very dull and uninteresting...too may pick ups , too may dials and knobs. Great playing and sounding basses I'm sure.
  9. My Sandberg Cal (Gen 1) has a huge headstock and I much prefer the Gen2 headstock. Great bass otherwise.
  10. As I said...the jury is still out, I cant decide whether they're cool or just goofy with those scallop frets and weird pickup placement. No doubt they're great basses.
  11. Even though they received a great review from Ed Friedland, the bass whisperer, and I nearly bought one, I just couldn't get over that head stock. Unlike others on this thread I kinda like telebass headstocks, at least they're a classic design but that below is just ugh! I think they've since been discontinued, I mean who wants to buy a copy of a fender bass for the same price as a fender but with an ugly headstock? 🤷‍♂️
  12. Just get hotrails or solid pickup covers , pickup unsightliness sorted. Can’t help you with crooked inlays however
  13. Vintage style semi solid basses with modern style tuning machines (the triangular type )
  14. The Jury is out on those Billy Sheehan Yamaha basses for me .
  15. Sire really should take the hint at this point. It ruins an otherwise perfectly good bass
  16. Hard to argue with a sunburst P and tort pick guard with maple neck 🤷‍♂️. But I guess it is pretty lazy and safe
  17. I like that combo 👍
  18. Gibson Flying V or Explorer basses.
  19. I know this is supposed to be about basses but I really hate those Ibenez guitars with the monkey grip...can we extend this thread to other musical items that puts us off ?? 😂😂😂
  20. I wouldn’t bother, it would only reduce the value of the bass
  21. Traditional fender shaped basses with f holes
  22. Even the starbass has the wrong headstock ☹️. Again great playing basses but Ick to look at. I had a corvette once and it basically had 2 dildos for horns. My band mates slagged me something wicked. I could live with the thumb or streamer bass. The Adam Clayton one is actually cool
  23. The original jazz bass ones are cool imo
  24. I really dislike the upper curve on those 4003 basses . Too much useless chrome .
