  1. It also looks as though the hardware has been swapped out - at least the machineheads have as they do not look like the Warwick branded Gotoh built machineheads you would normally find on basses of this era... Still a cracking bass and the fact it comes with different pre and pups is a modders delight!
  2. I quite like it. Not just another boring Fender copy!
  3. Damn that is sexy! Ive not seen many Korean Spectors rocking such high quality hardware and beautiful MOP inlays!
  4. I will be visiting the UK at Xmas and can easily and cheaply bringen this bass with me...
  5. *SOLD* For sale is a classic 1970's era Shure Brothers 565 SD (Unisphere 1) dynamic cardioid microphone The microphone comes complete with a 5m XLR to 1/4" Jack cable. The 565SD model was introduced in the 1960's and was made for several decades. This is the older American made 1970's / 80's model not the newer 1990's Mexican made 565SD. This was a widely used model with many famous musicians at that time period and set at low impedance having a beautiful smooth warm tone. Pic # 2 is an old 1970's Shure advertisement showing this earlier version and it's characteristics. Pic # 3 shows Jimmy Hendrix using one of these examples live in concert at Woodstock 1970 - Shure Unisphere Model 565: "Shure research, including the 1970 Woodstock documentary and the voluminous trove of artist photography, indicates that the mics used on vocals, drums, percussion, guitar amps and acoustic guitars were Unisphere® Model 565s." It works like new and sounds incredible. Basically an SM-58 before the SM-58. It does have more of a mid range sound however with a bit of bass as where the modern SM-58 is very heavy on the bass. As you can see from the photos, this microphone has been very well cared for and is excellent used condition with very little signs of use Insured shipping to the UK is 25GBP
  6. **SOLD** My bass clear out continues: For sale is a Warwick Thumb Bass from 1994 with original Bartolini pickups and the original Warwick hardcase. The bass was built in 1994 but has been lovingly cared for as it is almost completely free of blemishes - there is some wear next to the neck pickup - as seen in the photos. Otherwise, the bass is perfect and completely original. It has also just been freshly waxed, the fingerboard cleaned and oiled, new strings put on and a complete cleaning, maintenance and tuning. The electronics also got some love: all potentiometers were thoroughly cleaned with a high quality contact cleaner. They all work without any problems! The truss rod was also checked and works perfectly. The frets were also cleaned and polished and show only minor signs of wear. The heavily contoured body makes this bass super comfortable to play - as does the light weight of only 3.9 kg. The bass is very versatile in sound thanks to the pickup placement, active/passive switching and 2-band preamp. The Bartolini pickups are a perfect match for the Warwick woods and provide a very organic tone and the famous Warwick growl. If you have any questions, please let me know. I ship within Europe with a tracked and fully insured service so you don't have to worry. The bass comes with the original Warwick hard case. Bass: Thumb Bass Bolt-On 4 strings Serial number: G 383 94 Year: 1994 Month: July Number: 383 Neck: Wenge wood Fingerboard: Wenge wood Frets: Bronze Warwick frets Nut: Just-a-Nut brass version Neck construction: Bolt On Body: 2 pieces solid Bubinga wood Finish: Oil finish / Beewax finish Pickups: Passive Bartolini JJ pickups Electronics: Active MEC 2-band electronics Hardware: Chrome hardware, made for Warwick Made in Germany / 91330 Eggolsheim / Franconia-Bavaria
  7. Love the fact that they described as a bolt-on!
  8. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  9. I read it as the tuners and the pots have been changed - the rest of the parts are original. However, as you say, asking for 2K is ludicrous. You can pick up an unmutilated Rick for that!
  10. Absolutely gorgeous bass! The figuring on the wood and the colour is magic!
  11. It was one of the very first Warwick models. The stand is only there because these wont "stand" on a normal stand - it is not trying to do the double bass thing though it certainly does look a bit like that. It is more like Warwick's interpretation of a Steinberger headless bass.
  12. **sold** My bass collection down sizing continues... Up for sale is my original 79 Fender Precision Bass. Some people call it an '81 as the pots are marked '81 and the pickups are marked '80. However my local guitar shop and luthier told me you always go by the serial number('79). Anyway, you can make up your own mind as all of the evidence is clearly visible as I have included photos of everything. For 44 years, this bass is in incredible condition - I think it's impossible to find a bass in better condition! As can be seen in the photos, there are some very light and superficial marks in the paintwork - however, they are almost invisible unless you specifically look for them under the right light. The only real imperfection is that a small piece of the varnish has come off next to the screw hole for the bridge cover - see the last photo. The bass is not only original but also works perfectly, including the truss rod. Importantly, the bass is completely original and the neck was made by the renowned John Torres. The bass comes with a Fender hardshell case, which is also in very good condition - although I'm not sure if this case is the original... Fully insured shipping to the UK, via UPS, is 150GBP
  13. **SOLD** The downsizing of my bass collection continues... For sale is a Warwick Streamer Stage II from Warwick's "golden era" - where the instruments were hand-built to the highest quality using the very best components - solid brass bridges, Gotoh tuners, brass nuts etc. The sale includes a brand new Gator hardcase to keep the bass safe during shipping! The bass was built in 1991 but has been lovingly looked after as it is almost completely free of blemishes - there is only one very tiny dent on the top of the headstock - as shown in the photos. Other than that, the bass is near perfect and all original(except the strings of course!). It has also just had a fresh wax, the fretboard cleaned and oiled, new strings put on and a complete clean, service and set-up done. The service and clean included: Every part of the bridge was taken apart and thoroughly cleaned. During the reassembly, all of the adjustment screws received a little oil to protect them and to ensure they function smoothly and prevent rust. The electronics also received some love with all of the potentiometers receiving a thorough clean with a high quality contact cleaner. They all operate without any issues! The truss rod was also examined and it operates perfectly. As you would expect from a 32 year old bass with brass frets, there is significant wear to the frets but there is plenty of life left in them yet. The Streamer Stage II model needs no introduction as it is already known as a sound monster. It is one of Warwick's flagship models and is played by many top players around the world! To buy a new Stage II today will cost you around €7500!! The heavily contoured body makes this bass super comfortable to play. The bass is very versatile thanks to the active/passive switching and 2-band preamp and the electronics feature a trim pot on the pre amp that allows you to adjust the midrange as well. Bass: Streamer Stage II 4 strings Serial number: B 659 91 Year: 1991 Month: February Number: 659 Neck: Wenge wood with Afzelia lamination Fretboard: Wenge wood - with mother of pearl Ying Yang Inlays Frets: Bronze Warwick frets Nut: Just-a-Nut brass version Neck construction: Neck Through Hidden-neck construction Body: 3 pieces of solid Afzelia wood Finish: Oil finish / Beeswax finish Pickups: Active MEC JJ pickups Electronics: Active MEC 2 band electronics with trimpot(controls midrange pre-set) Hardware: Gold hardware made for Warwick Made in Germany / 91130 Eggolsheim If you have any questions please let me know. The bass will be shipped inside the Gator ABS hardcase. The bass will be well packed within the case with plenty of additional packaging. The hardcase will ship within a shipping carton. Fully insured shipping to the UK, via UPS, is 135GBP
  14. **Final Price drop to 1350GBP** I'm in the process of downsizing my bass collection - for sale here is a very rare Warwick Nobby Meidel from 1983 - this is number 19! Included in the sale is the original stand, strap extension, straplocks and a brand new ABS hardcase to keep the bass safe during shipping! The bass was built in 1983 and is all original except for the strap extension and the straplock buttons and straplocks, and of course the strings! The bass has been well looked after but as you would expect from a 40 year old instrument, there are signs of wear and some other minor cosmetic flaws - all of which have been shown in the photos - particularly the last 8 photos. The bass was recently in the hands of a local luthier to give it a once over. It has just had new strings put on and a set-up done. The truss rod was also examined and it operates perfectly. I will include an allen key for adjusting the truss rod as regular ones dont fit due to the tight access As you would expect from a 40 year old bass, there is some wear to the frets but there is plenty of life left in them yet. Weight is 3,23Kg/7,12lbs Here are the details for this particular bass. These details are kindly provided by Warwick CEO Hans-Peter Wilfer: Nobby Meidel well it is one of the first ones... you are lucky... 15. **SOLD** I'm in the process of downsizing my bass collection - the latest offering is my 2010 Spector Rebop 5, DLX FM. It is a wonderful sounding, easy to play and versatile bass equiped with EMG-HZ passive pickups mated to a Spector Tonepump Pre Amp. At only 3.7 kg, it's also very light and well balanced. The 35-inch scale lends a lot of clarity and punch to the B string but playing this bass you never feel like you have to stretch to play any of the notes. The bass is in good used condition - with a few minor blemishes as seen in the photos - but everything works as it should, including the truss rod and electronics. The bass is located in Germany but I am happy to ship to the UK. Shipping is 75GBP which includes full insurance
