1. The Guitar Emporium was importing Jap Fenders and offering discounts to bass worlders - probably never made the jump over here.
2. I got a cab from sh*tty-link and they had dropped it so hard that one of the drivers was so mucked up the cone would not move! Nuff Said.
3. What a load of fuss about nothing.
4. Good post Homer. That is fabulous playing that many of us could never achieve. Does not stop me enjoying my gigs and at least the coming home smelling of fags will stop soon.
5. Well not really a jazz and not really pink but close enough.
6. Well it wont hurt to copy the first post to the for sale section - you never know. For someone with only £300 to spend it would be a good bass.
7. There was something on BassTalk - better get over there before it disappears.
8. I think you are spot on BJ. When ever I value something unless its particularly esoteric or in demand I usually start at half the cost new. 14 weeks - you lucky lucky................... I had to wait nearly a year for one of my GB's.
9. Sorry to here you have problems - you dont seem to have had much luck lately. Thats the problem with getting stuff from abroad. When I had a problem with my EBS Neo 2x12 I took it back to Bernie and it was fixed.
10. Surely you can check the different outputs using your amp? It is a common mistake to assume that an active bass must be louder than a passive bass - it ain't necessarily so.
11. Very nice but very marmite I suspect. My swamp ash GB's are very light, and many others use swamp ash as well.
12.
the Neutriks are too expensive for patch leads.
Not being funny - but what difference does being a patch lead make? If it is in the signal path it is just as important as any other jack.
13. Too many strings. This is the one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=128
14. Bass chat seems to be turning into a Shuker love in again. You may be surprised to konw there are other custom builders
15. I think it is highly unlikely you will be able to get custom moulded case so if it wont fit a Hiscox shaped I guess you will be lumbered with a rectangular one that will take most basses. There might be someone making panelled cases. Other than that a semi rigid gig bag is probably your best bet.
16. The superfly has 2x250w into 4 ohms outputs, not 500 watts into 2 ohms. Thats 500 watts into 2x4 ohm cabs. If it was connected to 2x8 ohm cabs then it would put out less, although it depends on the amp how much less but could be as little as 125 watts into each 8 ohm cab. Thats still 250 watts. Should have been louder than a practice amp.
17.
Ah, thanks for that bf. Christ, 21db cut or boost - that's more than most amplifiers!
Handle with care!
18.
Look what just popped up on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Marshall-JMP...1QQcmdZViewItem
How cheap?
19. Ahem. Bernie's not very good with email, as far as computers are concerned he struggles with the primary function defeat switch. Unlike many custom builders Bernies stock basses use his own pick-ups and electrics (not built by John East like everyone else). The pickups are dual coil and they also have a series parallel switch. The pan contol is buffered so you dont get phase canellation with both pups on. The volume control has clicks for easy setting. 3 band 18v eq with +-21db cut/boost. Another cool feature is there is a light that blinks to indicate battery condition.
20. Standard but some songs are all down a tone cos the singer cant hit the notes any more - good excuse for another bass.
21. Well I expect the BAM was discontinued because it was not selling - thats usually the reason. Like most Peaveys I expect it weighed a ton. Just cos I dont use effects it don't mean no-one else should, and I dont think anyone is saying cos they use modelling anyone else should. Bet no-one has got a Varaix bass though, great sounds but sh*te to play. Just one question though, I use an EBS rig because it is transparent and allows the sound of by different basses to be heard, although some will say it is coloured - but in a different way. I have played with rigs where the sound of the bass was smothered by the sound of the rig and always sounded the same no matter what was plugged into it. So if you use all this modelling stuff - does it make all your basses sound the same?
22.
MB1. 2 guitarists+ 2 pedalboards + 1 bassplayer +1 pedalboard +drummer= mush.

Sorry to be blunt but that's probably the biggest pile of arse I've ever heard! Normally I can say 'well each to their own' but in this case, you're just wrong!
Well that does depend on the quality of the pedal, leads and dare I say the players. I dont use any effects and use an EBS Microbass II to balance my basses. As I said above there are lots of ways to vary your sound. There is no right or wrong - just different. As to the original question it depends on what you are using it for, but if you are using a modelling amp to produce the sound and volume of an SVT it aint gonna do it.
23. What they said. I've never felt the need to get that many sounds. There is so much variation with fingers, thumb or pick, playing by the bridge/playing by the neck, pickup blending and active tone controls I could not cope with any more.
