1. Here are some pics of a handmade bass made by the chap I bought it from. It originall came with Artec single coils and preamp. I fitted some Nordstrand big singles and sourced some brass pickup surrounds..and some nicer knobs. The bass looks really cool (to my eyes), has some nice figure in the wood, and sounds nice. It (unusually) has 25 frets...I'm not complaining ( the eqivalent of my amp goes up to 11....!). I have left the Artec preamp in for the time being as it sounds surprisinlgy good...I will probably upgrade when I can afford it. The bass did not cost a lot..I think the poor guy was feeling the pinch a bit..but it sounds really good.
2. cgordonfreeman traded his bass for mine. The transaction was excellent in spite of the "overseas element". He is a totally honest guy, totally reliable, communication was superb, and he was really easy to do business with. Completel;y recommended. Nice one John... Alembic1989
3. Kindly leave any feedback here ...especially if you have something really nice to say......
4. Has anyone tried an Aries bass (5 or 6 string)..they look amazing. There are a few clips on you tube and I love the tone too. But would like to hear from anyone who has actually played one and can maybe comment on build quality etc.
5. Hi, just eyeing up an active 5 string jazz (squier)...just wondered if anyone had any opinions on them? Do they sound good period...or are they 'good for the money' ????
6. Hi, nice looking bass. I am intrigued as to why your are after a 'standard' jazz when your prose seems to have all that ' tone territory' covered. Can you not get fender jazz tones from your prose?....just asking.
7. Hi, PM'd you about a possible trade.....got no reply...does that mean no?

14. It's time for me to move this bass on. It is a really cool bass with a high spec. But I am looking to trade, The pics and spec can be found here.... http://www.mygear.com/items/view/14465 I paid to import this bass about a year ago . Like I said it is a really cool bass but not what I am after. I am open to trade especially for basses that have an 'ultra burp' in their sound arsenal. I am looking primarily for another 5 but then again I am open to trade for any nice bass of similar value..try me..... I am based in Slough (berks). CMON ! show us what you've got you never know..... Here are some more pics .
15. Hi, I've got a nice 5 stringer...if you are up for a trade. pics and spec here.... http://www.mygear.com/items/view/14465 it's a lovely bass...but I can't get the tone I'm after....I want the 'ultra burp' tone of a good 'jazz' based instrument I am based in berkshire,
16.
It doesn't choke on any other string, and my guess is taking a bit of tension out the neck will cure it. I'll maybe try that tomorrow, and stick a straight edge (steel ruler) along the board to see if it's raised at a particular spot. It doesn't really choke, just more a buzzy note if that makes sense ! Open to suggestions on how I might cure this.
Hi, how did you get on with the neck....sorted?
17.
I have a 4-string Ashbury Electro-Acoustic Fretless Bass, like this one click here Bought it on BC, and have now realised I'm not a fretless player. Don't really play it so looking to sell it on for the price I paid, £120 + £20 P&P Comes with a gig bag. The string chokes/buzzes a little around the 10th - 12th fret on the G string but still a bit of fun to have lying around the house for the right person. Guess it's easily fixed with a decent setup or new bridge, just can't be rsed.
Hi, any idea why it's choking in that particular place? Is there a high spot on the fretboard? Does it choke in the same spot on the other strings?
18. Here are some pics of my Morley pro flanger...I have owned it from new (1980). it's mains operated and the pedal can be operated in "auto mode"...or "manual mode"...here the sweep rate of the flanger can be controlled manually using the foot pedal. This is a "proper" Morley (pre 1983)..and is a really pretty unique piece of kit. I even have the original box, manual and packing!! there is hardly a mark on it. I will be putting it up for sale eventually (er...but then again maybe not..but the again...etc...).
