1.
make sure you are routing for the Delano pickup and not just a standard MM shape. I've discovered at least one brand of generic but commonly supplied MM pickup case won't actually retro-fit a stingray because the corners are too sharp on the newer pickup casing.
Many thanks gentlemen
 2.
i think your completly missing the point check the guy's ebay feedback, he has many happy customers
+1 on that point. I own a wishbass..had it for a few months now. I did all the necessary "googling" and the general concensus from people WHO ACTUALLY OWN ONE (important point), was that the finish was poor but they liked the tone. I like many others did a bit of work on mine ..which basically involved sanding down to the wood, rounding a few edges, and then finishing with teak oil...it took about a week. I really like my wishbass. (I own some very high end basses too)..it has a feel all of its own..very comfortable to play.and a very pleasing tone..and each one really is unique. The much maligned bridge works perfectly well..no intonation problems at all. There is a lot to be said for simple engineering solutions like that. ..and I've also noticed some high end builders who use a similar arrangement. More power to Mr Wishnevsky.
 3. Hi, I have a bass currently fitted with 2 bartolini soapbars, and an EMG BQ3 preamp system (with mid sweep control). I want to replace the bridge pick up with a Delano Music Man type . Is it simply a question of pulling the old Bart out and replacing it with a delano (After routing to correct size)..or is there something I am overlooking??
 4.
I have a Delano MM in my Single cut... And it is the Growliest Pup i have ever had. But that could also be a combination of various things... Bridge, Woods..etc [ i dont know if that makes any differance ] I do know it has a very high output. Infact i dont use any on board Eq at all. [ Agi 3 band ] It is just run passive [ i dont have any tone control when in passive mode] The Delano Pups Rock...! Garry
Where did you buy your Delano MM from? and how much did it cost.? Do you remember the model number? there seem to be a few variations which is confusing. Thanks in advance...
 5. I have a fretless bass (4 string) currently fitted with bartolini soapbars. I want to replace the bridge pick up as I want a REALY GROWLY SOUND.....tuba like. I was thinking of a Music Man type pick up..but I am open to suggestions. I currently have an EMG active BQ3 circuit installed with variable mid sweep. Can any body suggest a pickkup that will fit the bill. Your thoughts gentlemen please??
 6.
I've done my knee in, so I'm in the same boat (or rather, on the same stool). Rock n roll.
You might want to try camping shops..they do 3 legged foldaway stools...very light too. But alas no padding, comfortable though...I use one when I am camping out at festivals to play my guitar with.
 7.
Relisted with a lower reserve (£450) and a BIN reduced by £100 and still with Brooklyn Gear strap and Trussrod tool. Peter
Hi. believe it or not I am unfamiliar with the sound of Warwick basses...Is that a MM type pick up near the bridge? What type of tone could I expect finger style played near the bridge with the MM style pickup only? Are you open to offers? Best Regards
 8.
I've got a maple neck fretless Precision, which was converted from fretted. Obviously when you pull out the frets there is damage to the finish of the neck which has to be stripped back so its best to refinish the neck with something hard wearing; I didn't do this myself and got a local luthier to do the work, that was back in 1989 and the neck still looks good and I use roundwounds! Cheers Charla
Thanks for that. BTW...we share the same birthday
 9.
no please dont do that to that lovely white L2000 (if it is the same bass you are referring to)
Oh...and what lovely white one would that be???
 10.
Maple necks are normally lacquered so like the man says you will need to refin after pulling the frets out anyway so just use a tougher laquer.
I think what I'l probably do when the frets are pulled out is not to laquer as I don't like the feel of shiny laquer under my fingers...I will do my best to wear out the neck...(.by practising more)..and then get an ebony board put on it at a (much) later stage..when I will hopefully be able to afford it....unless of course I have totally fallen in love with the feel of maple under my fingers....just a thought.
 11.
I wouldn't use roundwounds with any fretless board mate. And someone on the EBMM forums had two sterlings, one with a maple board and one with a rosewood board. He then swapped the necks on the same bass, same EQ settings and all and recorded both of them and posted the recordings. A lot of people guessed correctly on which was which, but the difference was so minute, if any at all. Point is, it made no real difference that EQing wouldn't do. It's not the sort of thing where you'd hear it and think "ah a maple fretboard, would sound better with a rosewood one". As a rule it was VERY slightly brighter and attackier, but as i say, nothing a slight tweak of your treble knob wouldn't take care of.
thanks for your input guys. I always use rounds with fretless..I .just like the sound
 12. I am considering buying a secondhand G&L L2000 and defretting. The only one I have seen for a good price has a maple fretboard. Do maple fretboards sound the same as ebony or rosewood ones when defretted? I only have experience with ebony/rosewood. I know that maple is softer which might be an issue as I would be using roundwounds. Your thoughts gentlemen please?
 13.
This one? http://nuax.de/index.php/electric-basses-2...battlestar.html
Yup that's the one...very nice too IMHO.
 14.
Looks like a bargain considering the list is £1800......
My thoughts exactly...that's why I was asking about q tuners..I was so glad that you said they were excellent. The other thing that attracted me was that it was Bass Number 1...the original working prototype. I am a sucker for any kind of experimental/prototype instrument!!
 15.
Cool. If it had been a 5-string you might have been in competition from me. Full report when it arrives please. I might still have a punt on one of the guitars if the get re-listed cheaper.
There was also a pretty cool looking 5 that was reduced from £599 to £499. I'll give a review when it arrives..but I lack the facilities to post pics and sound samples.
 16. Just won this on ebay.Haven't got it yet .But I am very pleased. I really like unusual basses and this one fits the bill very nicely. Very high spec bass with in built tuner (on jack output) and those awesome q tuner pickups. Can't wait to try it out for the first time. 18.
If you're used to Alembic electronics then the sound of the Q-Tuners won't surprise you. It's the extended and uncoloured sound that can be achieved through raising the resonant frequency above the working range of the instrument. Alembic do it with low impedance pickups and active electronics. Q-Tuners do it with a very cunning high impedance and high output passive pickup - I have no idea how this is possible but the sound is just so deep, open, uncompressed and responsive to your playing. Alex
Thanks for that..I love the electronics on my alembic. I've got my eye on a bass with some q tuners on it...hence all the questions. I have a better idea of what to expect now...so thanks again.
 19.
Ignore him :0)
Yes I think I'll do just that.
 20.
They are righteous. Come to Guildford for the Bass Bash tomorrow and you can try my RIM Custom 5 with them. Alex
Thanks for the info chaps..most helpful. It's a real shame that even on bass forums where most people are polite, helpful and civil that we also have people who are keen on being abusive I refer of course to Bass Fart..or was is Bass Farter..no hang on ...naaa it's gone now. Ferret maybe?
 21.
Alex Clabber has some. Prose bass is selling a bass with one fitted.
Errrr...pardon my ignorance but who is Alex Clabber?? and tried to google "Prose Bass" ..but got nothing....
 22. Hi has anyone tried any Q tuner pick ups. The reviews seem excellent and they look the T@TS! http://www.q-tuner.com/bl6.shtml
 23.
And here's me wanting to buy another one !! can't help it I just Love Musicmans.....
An immaculate fretless sterling went for £448 inc hard case on ebay last week. dude..so I think you better hang on to it for a while.
 24.
Hey guys, sorry for the delay on the pics of the overwater...i've been abroad with no internet....doh! I'll get them up tomorrow. To answer ya question about which progress it is.... i'm not really sure. I'll give chris a bell up at overwater and find out for ya. cheers. Scott.
Don't know about anybody else but isn't there meant to be an overwater 4 string fretless with a purpleheart top for sale (since january)...how come no price and no pics...I don't really "get it"
