Thanks guys, I'm fretting about my P a bit but recon I need to just do it... will kepp this thread posted!
Yes, the nut adjustment would not be reversible, but shouldn't be too expensive to replace. If the bridge did need some work then this would still be OK if you wanted to go back down again.
I guess that's doable... still feels like I should have a second spare... feeling a bit tentative about it.. should probably just do it tho!

Thanks guys That sounds like the sort of adjustment that would then have problems going back to 4... no?

Heya I have been thinking about 5 strings but don't have the budget and quite frankly I'm just not in to buying anything that isn't a keeper so I got excited when I read a comment in a discussion on here about stringing a 4 string B E A D. Has anyone got any thoughts/advice for me on this? Would the bass need adjustments to welcome the B? I've got a '50 classic precision & it has become my spare recently. Thanks!

Hey Chris Great work! I don't suppose you have thought about transcribing Bootsey on There Was A Time I Got To Move (JB)? Spent about an hour trying to work it out the other day but didn't really get anywhere....
I mostly enjoy it. But this article does a good job of summing it up... "Later with Jules Holland: a cockroach in the schedules" https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/apr/08/later-with-jools-holland-cockroach-schedules
depressing article for sure.... lots of great live music is happening just the media isn't there. we should get out our houses more

Yeah I think i'm gonna. Sounds great tbh, i'll probably wait for the new one hoping to road test! Thanks!

RE-RESURRECT pt 2 Hello! Anyone got a hold of one of these and care to say something about them? I have a Kala "Rumble".... not good enough for acoustic situations. Am looking online but can't find anything (fretted) and the Shortbass website doesn't have a contact button... Anyone got the 'Basic" model? I am wondering what the difference can be between that and the new one that isn't yet available...
As has been said on your status - whatever strap you decide on, be sure to use strap locks...
Is that because the bass could fall out of it's grip?
-
Hello I'd like to ask you whether you have any knowledge or experience of a strap with great inner grip. I have finally found my posture for practicing and playing to be almost upright both standing and sitting. Although the strap I have get that position temporarily it just doesn't hold. I looked through the forum and saw some people mention The Minotaur, The Mono Bettie & Gaucho, but no review is specifically saying much about this particular posture. I also found a strap online (in Spain) which looks good (it's vegan if you care about that sort of thing, not my priority but..) http://www.rightonstraps.com/en/mojo-collection-race-red-strap.html I don't mind spending £40 on something but if I then gotta spend another £40 because that's not working or then again... it can get expensive! I would love to go to a store and try them all but it's just not possible these days... Thoughts from you would be much appreciated Thanks in advance! Dave

Hi guys, having been getting some pains recently I found this post. Not that bad, but trying to work out what to do. I am practicing 4h a day plus a few rehearsals and a few gigs per week. Doesn't seem that extreme. As a drummer I used to practice around 6 or 7h. Posture seems to be more important than I'd considered and I'm addressing this in practice as well as going to see an alexander technique musician specialist. I have to say I was surprised to read such agreassive responses to the post as I thought this forum was one of much niceness! The mind is the body, undeniably. Don't want to get myself in trouble now, just saying... They are part of the one thing. But that doesn't make pains not real things that are triggered by physical behaviour. Anyway. Could we maybe hear from the original creator of the thread to see how he's doing now?
Also the Reflex and 25th Anniversay have ceramic I think - only available used - there's a 25th in the for sale now. There is also the Bongo but that does not really get a Stingray sound. All of these are few and far between to try out.
Yeah.... Pricey huh? While I am here I'm gonna dare ask... Sandberg California 2 VM??? I played one... Felt nice, not really got that musicman thing but closeish... What do you think?
If you liked 5 strings you could get a Stingray 5 with the Sterling pickups....(ceramic)....certain eras cover this.
Interesting... I am both interested and afraid in the 5 string...
