2. We took a hard line years ago. We now play about 10 Charity gigs a year.... mostly repeat bookings. We charge pretty much our full going rate. We pull out all the bells and whistles on the night though. But never do it for less than our standard function rate.
3. JTUK..... Without fail every time GK is mentioned you pop up and slate them.... They must have really done you over big time
4. Hey I've been using the MB500 for a few years now and am blown away with it still. I had the MB200 on loan to try and it's a great amp..... Loud enough for most situations... sound is pretty much the same... maybe a bit more grunt with the 500
5. I'll throw GK MB500 onto the pile. Currently using this with 2 x Aggie DB112 and it was the best of the Class D amps when I was choosing. Certainly works well with those cabs.
6. Nope... I've cut some ties with Polar UK so not looking anymore new GK gear.....

8.
A very small 500W digital amp, with aux/headphone in and a MUTE!
Cough Cough.... GK MB500...... Cough Cough
9. How do you measure an industry standard??? If you were to look at what most Tour's use these days Sennheiser pretty much outweighs Shure by a long way.... A lot of FOH guys know what an SM58 sounds like... it's not a great sounding mike but they know what the characteristics and limitations of the mic are which makes it much easier to work with.
10. Nope... I'm on Virgin... no issues at all
11. Very nice... tasteful!
12.
Well blow me down! Having said that though, I've never seen anyone using it, never seen it in the shops and can't remember seeing it online among the Promethean stuff.
that's because UK isn't really a key market for the stuff.... We have our home grown brands that dominate such as Marshall, Laney etc...
13. If your budget allows.... have a look at this JTS system... really good build quality and stable RF £229 http://www.tsprosoundandlight.co.uk/view-product/JTS-SIEM-2-In-Ear-Monitor-System
14. I'd steer clear of LD systems wireless kit... it's utter rubbish. There are plenty of other cheap systems around
15.
Oh dear. They've just positioned themselves as yet another mid range supplier. The existing Promethean range has built it's reputation on 'word of mouth' driving perspective consumers to try out a product range from a manufacturer not generally associated with amplification. Once you have a position in the market it's fine to diversify but suicide to totally change position. I very much doubt Promethean will be around in two years time.
Actually Ibanez have been manufacturing Amplification for quite a long time now..... and have quite a range of products Have a look here - http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/ele_top11.php?area_id=3&year=2011 I have mentioned elsewhere on this forum that Ibanez are intending to expand the Promethean range so you will see more products throughout the year.

18. www.patchat.co.uk Pat pat pat pat pat pat pat pat pat......
19. Love the bass sound..... pretty spot on.... My only criticism is the timing is a bit all over the place.... other than that great stuff
20. JLS Rool!
21.
I was thinking the same (except the acoustic at the top) not in the same sceptical way I think you are Crez , but in how all basses can sound remarkably similar when recorded. So I started listening a little closer, albeit on cheap speakers, and I'm sure I could detect some subtle differences.
To be fair I'm listening through the computer so they may well sound different on better speakers.....
22.
I think Ed Friedland summed up (very well) the usage of slap on gigs. The only band I can think of where it's a crucial part of their sound is Level 42, but that would be (IMO) the exception to the rule. As a "display technique" a la the London Bass Show last year, it went way overboard. I would rather have heard 99,000 interpretations of "Donna Lee".
Only in Ed's world...... He's not really a go to bassist for any band that falls into Genre where Slap bass would be appropriate..... and there's plenty of them, though maybe not as many as Country Music. there are loads of bands out there that have Slap as a crucial part of their sound but maybe not as upfront as Level 42 as Mark was the Frontman wielding a bass under his chin.
23.
I don't think I can add any more to what has been said as it all slots in with how I feel about music. I did come across this clip of Ed Friedland doing a clinic. Loved his comment on slap a short way into it.
The only Slap Action Ed get's is on his head......
24. Funny how all those basses sound exactly the same.....
