Check the impedance of your combo first. It probably has a 4R minimum. If the internal drivers are wired for 8R you'll want an 8R minimum extension cab. However (imo) an extra 4x10 is overkill for your 300w head. I've had several ashdown mag setups myself. The best sounding 2-box combination was a 2x10 combo with a MAG 1x15 cab.

Which one was the hardest song you have learned and why?
The song that sticks out as the hardest I've ever tried to nail a song was Hysteria by muse ...,
Same here. It saw it voted best bassline ever, bought it, realised it was beyond my ability! Fast forward a year or two and the band suggest adding it to our set. Cue six weeks of slowly gathering pace and fx pedals! -

E bay...where have all the bargains gone?
bigjimmyc replied to theplumber's topic in General Discussion
That is the way it has always been (well, at least the last 10 or so years). The buy it now price has always gone as soon as there is a bid hight enough to clear any reserve. That is why bidding on any buy it now auction starts with someone bidding low just to make sure someone doesn't buy it now away from them.
Huh! Must have been my imagination / old age! High time there was a proper competitor for them. -
Another vote for the 'buy it now' road- if I want something, I want it........ all this pratting about with losing auctions (which have likely been won using software trickery) is just too much cr*p..........
Due to my current financial situation I've been attempting to shift kids of old gear through eBay recently. However I noticed what appears to be a change of policy. You cannot keep a buy-it-now price after bidding has started on an auction unless you also set a reserve price. That said, almost every auction I've listed brought characters out of the ether asking me to sell off-market. Only a few got to the last-minute sniping! I concur that they (eBay) are less consumer friendly than they were, which presumably is why they acquired gumtree. -
Having just sold my Ashdown and Ampeg heads, I am surprised and delighted with the sound from my SansAmp DI into an old Audiohead AH1400 power amp with my Barefaced four10. Bags of clean deep power and classic growl on tap. Frankly I am amazed.

With great sadness I am offering my pride and joy for sale due to financial dire straits. This is a non-pro original SVT-II. All-valve goodness, classic Ampeg sounds, full of character and power! It was fully overhauled this winter with valves replaced etc, and has not been gigged since, just a couple of rehearsals. All is working perfectly and it does sound like nothing else. I am including a really strong live-in flight case which is a no-brainer really. These bad boys are heavy and need proper handling. I'm in Winchester if you want to come and try it out at full blast. Bring your own cabs if you want. Alternatively I can deliver for diesel dough. Cheers

Old laptop bag?

I've got a feeling that the BF four10 is a bit less than 8 ohms. Still tempted to require it to 2 ohms though, because it's all the cab I need in all other respects.

Made in Yorkshire! This was my very first amp. It has aged better than me, insomuch as it all seems to still work. 60W combo with 15" driver. Footswitchable chorus/flange DI, headphone and slave (line level) outs The whole unit including the carpet covering is very tidy. Sound-wise there's good heft from that big driver. The cab is sealed, no tweeter, but you can extract a lot of tone from it. Open to offers, delivery solutions, trades, favours, loans etc. Come and try it out in sunny Winchester.

Feeler for my Toby-4 left, with thru-neck. I've had this from new, sometime in the late 90s. Attached pics are stock, but accurate for my bass. Although there is an active preamp providing bass and treble cut/boost I have bypassed it. This is reversible, but I prefer the sound as-is, not to mention the battery maintenance worry. This is a really nice-playing instrument, fairly lightweight and unusual. It just doesn't fit my needs anymore. Comes with Tobias gig bag. Collection near Winchester or delivery by arrangement. Hi folks. I've got a couple of running repairs needed for my band's PA. Brooke FPRO 2110 10" 250W 2-way passive tops - suspected blown tweeters in both Laney CX-15 2-way tops - one possible blown / dying driver These are cheap kit I'll grant you, but we're not likely to be upgrading anytime soon. So if I'm to repair them it'll need to be CHEAP! Any suggestions where I can find parts for these, or even a specialist who'll not rip me off? I'm near Winchester, Hants. Cheers! Jim
