1. I am slowly getting sucked in here. I have an iPad 2. Is this going to be cool? It will be nice to have something to use it with, because it has kind of fallen out of favour really. Obv I will have to clean all the STUPID games my children have on it. That will not hurt too much
2. Just SUPER easy
3. I have thought about the Viol/gut thing but do not know if the gut winds all the way round and how that would work for me. What I am thinking about is a super long scale bass guitar with a super low note. My DB needs are met elsewhere
4. They certainly exist so I presume that it is do-able, however what I really want is a 41" long scale length to get some rumbly LF going on with nickel roundwounds and my hands in a DB position, so the arco bit is not an issue for me. Of course this is all a pipe dream at the moment
5. I have flogged my Kala as I now have a 5 string thing of beauty (you cannot spell Bass without a B ), but I miss the kind of funky comedy duality of the uke size/shape and the phat sound.
6. Just provisionally sold a bass................ struggling............ to ................not................buy................one
7. I spoke to Barry last week and he said that the next shipment was due in but he was not expecting a fretted doobrie in on it. We both agreed that it is a pretty niche market! He did say that if one appeared then he would call me in. The reality is that I want to try one and if it works for me I want to commission a full sized 6 string one with a bottom F# so I cannot even pretend that I would be buying one
8. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have been away for a week, but will attack it again with vigour and new suggestions tomorrow.
9. I have looked at Thomann and they have a B stock one but I just do not have the £2K I would need to put down just to try it.
10. Thanks Gelfin. Will did the biz.
11. Yep, it is still here. I am away at the moment so cannot measure, but it is standard Status spacing, not the tight one.
12. Thanks Dad, it might come to that
13. Hi, I am in Tenby in South Wales for the week and the bass I have brought has a dying vol pot. Can anyone reccomed a tech who put a new pot in at the drop of a hat fairly locally? TIA
14. Again, thank you everyone. The tack cloth does not seem to be shifting it The whole air compressor thing looks attractive, but where do I find one? It feels like I am the only one in the gang who does not have one in the garage for just this sort of occasion.

If I had offcuts it would suggest that I had the skill to craft something like this myself. Sadly not
16. Thanks everyone. My gut feeling is that the oil will do the trick, but I am a total noob so needed someone to hold my hand. The idea of giving it some Karcher is quite exciting though
17. What I really want to do is get hold of a 6 string NS EUB, get it fretted and put a bottom F# on it. Needless to say, this will not be happening any time soon!
18. Thanks Harry. I tried hoovering with a brush attachment yesterday, but the masking tape thing makes a lot of sense.
19. I am sanding a black walnut body down ready for a tru oil finish. I have worked my way down to 1000 grit but have sawdust in the grain and cannot shift it. When I damp it down with water it "disappears" but will it do the same when I put Tru Oil on it? I just do not know and do not want to present myself with a project which needs to be re-sanded. I am enjoying it, but not that much! I have "washed" it with Meths which has helped, but it is still there. Thanks Ben. Meths seems to be shifting a bit of it but it is still pretty obvious. If I knew that it would "disappear" beneath Tru Oil then I could ignore it, but I have no way of knowing

I need some advice on the sanding front. I have been through the grades and reached 1000 grit which I have been doing wet and dry. This is how it looks from far away - This is how it looks with a coat of water - But when I get close in there is sawdust in the grain - Will this just disappear when I get my Tru Oil from David Dykes on it? Also the curves around the seem to be a bit "cloudier" rather than the flat surfaces. Is this again just sawdust in the end grain? If so how to I get rid of it? TIA
22. Jack, do they have a storefront or is it just mailorder?
23. I think they do, but I was under the impression that they were strictly mail order now. I could be wrong though
