1. As promised;
 2. By the way; I don't find palm muting all that easy on the standard bridge. It's possible to do it but not easy.
 3.
please post a pic I miss my B2A that I sold in 1997
I will post a pic of mine later and maybe Adam will post one for the comparison...
 4.
Hey all, I have a lovely Hohner B2A which I bought through the Basschat forums. Love the damn thing. I'm very happy with it, but would like to swap the Steinberger drop-D bridge for a regular bridge. I don't use the drop-D, but more importantly I often play with a pick and mute strings with my palm, and the mechanism gets in the way. Can anyone confirm or deny mounting holes/positions are the same and a straight swap is possible? If so, I would be happy to swap my hardware for a non-drop-D if anyone has the opposite setup - wasn't sure which forum to post for swaps though. Many thanks! Adam
PMd
 5.
Perhaps it should be changed to Guitarstard (def: musician born outside of wedrock)
Nice one. Well considered.
 6.
Most of us on here are Brits, I believe, so we all get the piss take sense of humor. If we start gasping at any word with "Tard" in it then the thought police have won, and I will move to a country that retains a sense of humor.
Sorry for my tardy response but - Right on!
 7.
Blondie was my first proper live gig, when I went to see her at the BIC with my wife in 1999 (my wife was 10 years older than me, so she was a teenager in the 70s). We had a great time and they sounded brilliant - so I have followed them closely since. However there has been a significant decline in DH's singing in the last decade. I watched them at Glastonbury a few years ago and it was not good. There was no sign of any improvement on Jools either - which is sad. Ironically my girlfriend in called Deborah and nicknamed Harry (boom tish), and she was not impressed with the Jools perfomances either. Best performance of the night was the bass player with Future Islands - what a cracking tone. Pity there was this bloke staggering around "singing" over his playing.
Hahahahahaha. The Dad Dance, as someone quaintly put it earlier.
 8.
Wow! Surprised by how gigging is seen as a chore by many. I'm 62, been playing since 10 y/o, gigging since 15. Have gigged as a drummer, singer, guitar player, harmonica player and bass player. I love to gig! I've always used gig money to get great gear, so it didn't come out of house funds. I also love to practice, where you get creative to make your parts better, and love to teach, to pass on tid-bits of knowledge and see students progress. music is a gift and I feel blessed to be able to use it in my and others' lives.
May I respectfully suggest that we could do with a tiny bit more of the American can do attitude in this country (UK) as a whole. Having said that, I feel sorry for this situation where the OP has "carried" the whole band. That'd wear anyone down if there is no "tangible" acknowledgement of the extra effort from the fellow members.
 9.
...Any advice on where to get the silk gloves?...
Any decent motorcycle accessory shop should have glove liners, silk or otherwise, for you to try for fit.
 10.
Hurry Krishna ... mobile Krishna ... pedal pedal ... hurry hurry ...
I have to say I LIKE that. Being an ex motorcyclist who is ambivalent towards cars it answers a need for a vehicle to carry my sound system with me on journeys without the hassle of motor ownership or lots of fecky little "smart" devices. Plus, I could busk from that quite happily.
 11.
I finished building my short scale bass (in the build diaries) so will bring that along. It's not fully set up yet but I can do that whilst I'm there. See you all on Saturday!
Excellent! I'd love to see how you do that as much as I am looking forward to seeing the doorbass. Hope we're there in time to catch it.
 12.
Joshing ginger mates ,fine, almost a duty. Picking on ginger women, misguided. Red and orange are the most beautiful hair colours. I have unusual tastes...
Ahhh but are you bothered whether the rug matches the curtains? I mean, when I take the wee out of Simply Red I like to humour myself with the fact that he probably has ginger pubes too. Imagine how I'd feel about him if he played guitar as well? For the record, I am envious of Simply Red's success and the above is merely schoolboy banter. I hope you comprehend.
 13.
Since I'm currently not in a gigging band, I'm playing a lot more guitar than bass, that being how I compose. So if I'm now a guitard, that's fine with me. Although I'd prefer to be called a guit@rshole.
Better than being called a guiturd I suppose... Heeheehee (come back over to the low side)
 14.
...I'm I being too PC or just overreacting?...
Yes
 15. I'd like to thank those who offered me a lift. I have confirmed my arrangements this morning and will travelling with Andyjr on the day, all things being well. See you there.
 16.
Very sad to say I'm going to miss this. Some old friends from Adelaide are visiting the UK and Sod's law has decided that Saturday is the only day I can see them. Have a great day everyone.
Very sorry to hear that Len although I am glad you have a wholesome reason to pass. I was hoping to meet up with Andy and yourself for the journey. Catch you on the next one.
 17.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to miss this one. Pity as I was really looking forward to it; family have decided to visit and will be arriving on Saturday which means i won't be able to go off on my own. Catch y'all at the next one...
Bring 'em with you?
 18.
I can't remember the last time I just played bass & not do the PA , book gigs & transport , it's when someone said "you're a free platform for the other members egos " ..& watching them miss treat the equipment , I often wondered what if I just threw the guitarist amp around as he did when reluctantly moving a PA cab & the singer didn't even provide his own SM58 , I also considered turning up to a gig with no bass & asking the singer if he had one I could borrow .
If you do find another band I'd like to think that you will get your chance to let someone else carry the torch so to speak. I know from what you've said that you aren't going to be that band member. It isn't in your nature. Don't let the buggers grind you down. You should be proud to have made it happen for the other band members.
 19.
for now I'm going to just do some youtube demo type stuff , I guess a lot of it is working with the right people .
Cool. I hope you post linkage here when you've got summat.
 20.
Are any other northerners reading this, thinking "fingerless gloves?! It's got to be -50 before I put a jumper on!!"
Actually, my first thought was "Nesh".
 21. I'm not sure what's on the market since I stopped motorcycling but heated gloves used to be readily available. If you have a 12V source, you can use the gloves to pre-heat your hands before the gig itself warms them up for you. Keep them handy for the interval too.
 22.
My typical American response--as if it only happened over here! ... duh.
Hahahahahaha. You have a point none the less. The Beatles would not be as we know them had they not "broken" America. If the stand against segregation had earned them a touring ban in the 'States like with Ray Davies and the Kinks for example. Although banned for different reasons it caused a sharp kink in Ray and the band's commercial success. It also helped artistically it seems - "From an artistic standpoint , it may have been the best thing to ever happen to them. It forced Ray Davies to mature, become more introspective and observational (not to mention sober). The Kinks went on to record some of the greatest albums of the 1960's but in America they remained little more than a cult band until the mid-1970's." https://www.quora.co...US-from-1965-69 What if...? Hindsight's a bugger.
 23.
That sounds like a Phil Jones cab.
Having had a check on an image search I'd say yes. Amazing product range.
 24. Did any of you wonder how things would be now without that "Disco is Dead" campaign? I seem to recall Nile saying in interview that he hadn't peaked yet when the rug was pulled out from under him.
 25.
I really don't "get" Future Islands. While watching the last episode of Later..., I realised that the singer is actually the Club Singer from Shooting Stars.
"None taken" S. Herring Heeheehee. He does some grunting the lad does. Still, if folk will buy Shane McGowan's drunken vocals I won't feel bad about liking Sam's style. I also credit him for upgrading the goose step to the ostrich step and thereby covering all of the big stage in Glasto with relative ease
