1. Hi, I have a Dean Z Tour Bass which is active (and sounds cool). The battery ran out the other day and the Bass died on me so it got me thinking.....could I install a switch or something to bypass the active curcuit? I will get some photo's of the guts of the Bass on by this weekend and if anyone could help me work this out, that would be great! Thanks, Jim.
2. Graham bought a Gator rack case from me. He picked it up directly from my house, no problems, great bloke, good chat!! Please do not hesitate to deal with Graham, he is brilliant.
3. Stephen is a great, honest guy to deal with. We met up and did a swap of equipment without any hassle or worries. Please feel confident dealing with him as he is a blinding geezer! ** Sorry Stephen, Geejay's and your post has just reminded me to leave feedback..... **
4. Ah....little Kylie.....
5. Stop it!!! You lot are starting to put too many ideas into he head!!!
6.
+1 on the status light .... You don't want to be looking round to your amp to see if your mute is on or off... Build it so that the status lamp is off for most of the time (ie whatever you default setting is) and use a quick release battery holder such as these from Axesrus (they are ony £4.20 inc postage) You'll thank me when your battery goes between numbers and you don't have to find a screwdriver
Blinding thanks. I have just come up with an idea about the LED's...... If I get two which light up, I can make them the naked lasses nips!
7. Yes, you have a good point. On the other hand, I could build a custom one to suit my board/style (cue artistic thoughts of skulls, knives, blood and naked women...!). I did have a look on Thomann and the cheapest I found was an H&K one for about £15 + postage.
8.
Maplins sell one for about a fiver - no LED though
I'll check that out too. Thanks!
9. That is brilliant! Thank you very much!
10. Excellent! Thank you for your reply, I will give that a go! Cheers, Jim.
11. Hi, Has anyone made one of these? I want an on/off switch to use on my rack tuner. I am sure it wouldn't be that hard to make one and Maplin is so close to my work!! Would anyone be willing to share their knowledge of how to make one and what I would need? Thanks in advance, Jim.
12. I have a Gibson RD Artist. There is a toggle switch which can either put turn on the compressor or the expander. The compressor turns it into a rock monster but, I have to be honest, I can't tell what the expander really does to the sound (except makes it a sort of clicky/treble sound) so I don't use it.....
13. Hi, I need a 4u rack case as I am using more rack equipment than anticipated, therefore my Gator 3U shallow rack case is up for sale. Good condition, a few scuffs but nothing major. I used to own an SKB case and I would say the Gator cases are far superior, I am going to get the Gator 4U version to replace this one. £40 posted anywhere in the U.K. Thanks, Jim. [STOCK PHOTO, NOT ACTUAL CASE]
14. That is a LOT of MESA power!! The MESA sleeve looks cool anyway!! Did you get a footswitch with it? If so, what does it control? After your first gig with it, can you let us know how it played? Thanks, Jim.
15. They have a valve preamp and a solid state power section. They sound (to me) absolutley awesome. I've said it once but I'll say it again.....I'm really jealous!!!
16. Nice amp! I want to get the Big Block 750 when I have the money. I believe that the V12 is a twin channel version of the 750, is that correct? The tone is amazing and I am highly jealous that you have that!!! Is there any chance you can post some sound clips of that monster!?
17.
That's right Jim - just so you don't overload the poweramp. I got my FBV shortboard today!
Cool, thanks Ped! That FBV looks like a good piece of kit mate.

Hi....

I always get Dave to make my cables, they are the best quality I have ever seen/owned.
19.
Bass into POD. Output from POD into RETURN jack of the Send/Return loop on the amp. Make sure you use the correct output from the POD (i.e. the one with the modelled sounds, not the DI one which doesn't have any modelling applied). The Return jack is effectively an input into the power section of the amp - it usually bypasses the preamp section (and therefore all of the tone controls of the amp). Whenever you're connection something up like this (that you haven't done before) keep the volume controls set to a low level initially then bring them up slowly while listening for any distortion. Find an "optimum" level and that's it.
Sorry, just to clarify something....where you say "keep the volume controls set to a low level initially then bring them up slowly while listening for any distortion"....do you mean the level on the output of the POD or the master volume of the amp? I imagine you are saying it's the level on the output of the POD? Thanks, Jim.

22.
You could either

patch it into the effects return - in which case you will just be hitting the power amp and missing the EQ, or
into the front, in which case you will need to watch the input gain and probably use very light EQ on the graphics just to tweak for different rooms, other wise you will be EQing the EQ already set on the BOD

Sorry, bit of a thick question here......when you say "patch it into the effects return" where do you plug the input from you Bass? Does it go into the POD or the Input on your Amp? Is one method better than the other? Thanks, Jim.
