1.
I like the red one, the black one is cool too, but not in the same league. Is the ML well balanced ?
Yes, the ML is much better balanced than the Z, hardly a touch of neck dive. The strap button is behind the neck a-la Gibson which does help. I moved the Z a while back to the same position to help this too. The main thing with the ML is the weight..it is very light but still projects an amazing tone! As I said, the pickups are the Dean MetalMan pickups you find on their MetalMan series. According to some of the guys in the States, the bog-standard MetalMan series Basses are really good. The passive ones apparently sound better than the active which is a pretty good thing seeing as you can buy a passive MetalMan ML Bass over here for about £190. I'm going to try and get Dean to make a Ltd Editon Demonator or V Bass in the near future too.

    Dean

Hi guys, I have had a Dean Z Tour Bass since last year and love it so much that it has become my main gigging Bass. I have recently bought another from Dean which is a Limited Edition Trans-Red ML Bass. 24 were made to a custom spec and I managed to buy one ! It arrived yesterday from the USA and I haven't put it down since. Unlike the Z Tour, it is a passive Bass fitted with Dean MetalMan pickups. The sound is really cool, as good as I hoped it would be. The MetalMan pickups are really hot and are great for what I primarly play. I hope you enjoy the pictures: Dean Trans-Red ML Bass Dean Z Tour Bass Thanks, Jim.

Most EMG LTD, Dean, Ibanez, Schecter basses have EMG-Hz pickups which are passive humbuckers. A good way of telling is to pop off the control cavity and look at the pickups. If there are three wires and one of the wires - red probably - is clearly going to the battery clip then you have active pickups that will require a battery. Be prepared that some circuits will seriously boost the signal, so you might find the passive sound practically unusable. Best to make a note in your calendar to switch batteries at regular intervals - every 3 months won't break the bank.
Thanks, I think that is good advice. I have pretty much resigned myself to kicking myself up the @rse to change batteries!

  5. Thanks for the reply. I thought that might be the case to be honest....oh poo!
  6. Does this do the job..? Buffer
  7.
its an awesome rig though dude, that bass sound as metal as it looks?
Cheers, I love the sound I get from it. I get told to turn down by our guitarist who uses a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier with a 4*12 cab and a Marshall JCM2000 with a 4 * 12 cab. It can really cut through! I got the cab in an exchange with ste_3 from this very site. The dean has a brilliant metal sound to it. Surprisingly (although it doesn't look it) you can play quite a few different variations of styles on it. The only one it's not too good at is slap, but that would look a bit weird too!! I'm in the process of buying a Ltd Edition USA Dean ML Bass too.....
  8. To be honest mate, I don't know. Brycebites would be the best person to ask as he seems to know A LOT about tubes.

  14. Hi, I am selling my Alesis 3630 Dual Channel Compressor / Limiter which is in good condition, a bit of "rack rash" but nothing major. It comes with an Alesis power supply. A good, popular rack compressor which gives you a lot of control. £50 including postage anywhere in the UK. Thanks, Jim.
  15. I've found the samples, uploaded them and modified the original post. All the links should work again now. Thanks, Jim.

  19. Hi, I need to clear space for a new Bass and unfortunatley (for me) I have to part ways with my Non-Reverse Thunderbird. These are don't come up for sale very often and it took me a while to track one down. It comes with an Epiphone Hard Case which was about £90 on it's own. It's in great condition and is fitted with dunlop straplocks, one of which is behind the neck which eliminates any neck dive issues associated with t-birds. The action is nice and low, it plays and sounds great. I am looking for £350 including shipping. Thanks, Jim.
