1. So, I have this great Warwick Corvette Standard,German made, bought second hand, and through my main rig ( peavey tour 450 into Warwick 4x10 ) it`s just fine. However, last night used the rehearsal rooms Warwick sweet amp,and got a real bad buzzing when near the amp with volume on guitar up. also swapped for their other amp ( Hughes & Kettener), same buzzing. Tried my little Laney practice amp at home just now, same buzzing, always when near the amp,if I move away and from side to side it fades or goes. Touching the strings has no effect, and just tried my main rig downstairs, NO buzzing here at all!!! So I think that it isn`t earth problem,it`s not the houses electricals, not the rehearsal rooms electrics( my main rig, used there is fine), so what???? I guess it`s not a major problem,as long as I use my main rig or stay away from the amp with volume up!!!! Any ideas???
2.
If you can't wait - http://www.gear4musi...W-Bass-Head/B1D
Thanks, have seen these, but the extra cost is making me be patient ........for now!!! Though thinking it through, might be worth the extra few quid to deal with a British retailer, not that Thomann aren`t good, apparently, but just the whole distance thing. And supporting a Brit retailer.
3. Blast, the 500w head isn`t going to be in stock at Thomann til MAY now.....grrrr.....
4.
Might as well do the volume while you're there too
Oh yes, my amp was still at the volume from last week when my loud originals metal band played a non PA supported gig i.e. fricken loud, and was still too quiet in a 12 foot square room with the 7 string bass monster. Luckily he kept hitting bum notes as he`s not played the 7 in years, so hope we`ll be back to normal next time...!!!!
5. Last night from lead guitarist in recently formed covers band ( though I`ve known him for years, great player too )...." look, I`ve had the 7 string repaired, now there`ll be much more bottom end"........oh good....
6. That last picture is just goooooooooooooorgeos, type bump,I do like a corvette.
7. Thanks for posting this, such a good man to listen to,obviously very intelligent and talented, but also down to earth, love the bit near the end of part 2 where he talks about not really wanting to play the keyboards live `cos the bass is" his man!!!".
8.
Did you try plugging it into a amp?
You have to plug it in....????!!!!!! Might well sell the pups, but will have to replace them,I left them in the bass as they certainly don`t sound any worse than the originals, just no different to my ears, and the output level is identical. They do look cool though....( sad man!).
9. I put SD quarter pounders into my Mexican P bass.....and didn`t notice any difference at all. Except they look better. And I`m £50 down. However, lots of other people rave about them,so perhaps I just had great original pickups....
10. Trying soooo hard to resist, the Benton is even cheaper than the redsub......
11. You have to bear in mind that one I think you`re looking at on ebay is at one of those cash converter type places in Basildon,so they prob just looked at the back and saw 600w written next to the mains socket!!
12. Thanks,I like the sound of the Peavey a lot,it`s purely the trapped nerve in my back ( age is a terrible thing bass playing friends!!!! ) that is telling me " go lightweight"...........!!!
13. Also now on t`bay at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270949248967?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649#ht_500wt_1126
14. Here is the lowdown, one went on ebay for £200 LAST WEEK,TO BASSCHATTERS £180 o.n.o. ,pref. collected, as she`s hefty. PEAVEY TOUR 450 WATT BASS AMP HEAD,IN WARWICK GIGBAG RACK,AS NEW CONDITION. I`ve owned this amp for 2 years, and it has given me faultless performance every time, only selling as I`m getting something smaller `cos of my dodgy back!! Housed in a Warwick rockbag, which is more than a bag, it`s made of thick ply wood, and is as good, if not better, than a standard rack,as it protects and also has carrying handles. The head is therefore in immaculate condition. The head can be unscrewed from the rack if so desired. If you don`t want the rock bag let me know and I`ll knock a few quid off,but it is made to measure. I`m based near Lakeside in Essex, if you`d like to try the amp please email and I`ll try to accommodate you. I`ve advertised elsewhere as well. Thanks for looking.
15. Thanks Neepheid, I`m just seeing if I can afford to keep the Peavey 450 tour for big gigs and use a small light weight head for practice/small gigs, but in my heart ( and my nerve trapped back ) I know I really want a decent powered little amp at a reasonable price, this Redsub seems to fit the bill,I was also considering the Ampeg PF500, which I can save for a bit and get. Both my bands are stupidly loud, both hard rock so subtlety is not really a factor, but pure grunt is!!! When i had my Hartke 3500 I never used to get above 3 or 4 on the volume, whereas the Peavey i need on 5 or 6, and it weighs a ton too!!! Thanks for your info, much appreciated, will have to carefully consider now.
16. Hey neepheid, I notice you have a Hartke 3500 as well,I foolishly sold my one of these a few years back, and am now thinking of getting a redsub 500w head to replace my heavy Peavey tour450, how does the Redsub compare to the Hartke in terms of tone and volume? Seems too good to be true at that price and only weighing that much!! I play heavy rock, originals and covers, mostly using a Warwick standard corvette. Thanks in anticipation.....
17. I just got a Warwick Corvette off ebay for £320, 2004 German made, supposedly great condition, had a neck like Robin Hoods bow, but a week and many tweeks of the truss rod later, along with new strings and a proper clean,it`s absolutely lovely!!!!!!!!! And for that money,I can`t grumble about the snapped off side things on the just a nut,it still works and I`ll get a replacement eventually. I`m happy as long as the body and neck are in the condition I want, I`m o.k to spend a little bit extra to make a used instrument up to my standards.
18. Here`s a reasonably good vid of "Alright" from Brixton, looked at a few recorded by this guy, Satriani is just a bloody awesome guitarist. And just double checked what my mate I went with told me, Hagar is 65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That`s what life on a Mexican beach does for you I guess!!! Great band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6RYvtaMITU
19. Yeah, Was at Brixton, great gig,Mr Hagar was in fine voice, never seen him live was very impressed. Best of all looked like they were all having a real blast, all laughing together, looked like a BAND should do,only gripe was the bass was a bit ill defined were I stood, but thats prob down to the P.A and my position. Enjoyable night.
20. Looks very nice, but I`m shamefully drawn to the pick guard and metalwork version!!!!
21. Been looking at these online for a while, quite like the o.t.t rock monster design, and just found them for £355 at Soundslive, has anyone any good/bad stories about the basses or the online store please?? Cheers. Currently I`m using a Mex P with SD quarterpounders in, quite happy with it, but got the GAS......
22. I have a MIM P bass, put the thick Gotoh bridge on it (201 I think?) and it`s given, IMO ,my strings a bit more tension, don`t know why, and the sound is a lot more....focussed I would say,and a bit brighter. In fact my drummer in a LOUD metal band commented " for the 1st time ever I`ve heard every note you played" the first rehearsal after fitting it, so it def. worked for me.
23. How about naming the courier used, they do most of the work!!!!!! always helps to know who to use in future.
24. OOOOOhhhhh I`m after a reasonably priced 5 string for my originals metal band, as my old Washburn 5 string weighs several tons,do you happen to know how heavy this bass is please( weight not heaviness of sound! )???
