1. Thanks for the update I was about to buy it. It did seem a bit basic/typical for a bass pack. Thats the only thing that still isn't top notch on the iOS rig, filters, I pair mine with a phaser to get it sounding how my old 442 red did
2.
About the latency - can you adjust it in Amplitube? I've been leaning towards Tonestack lately as it has the best sounding amps, a decent enough Mutron III and I can set the buffer size to 64 samples which is the lowest I've seen! I have an iPad AIr 2 though, YMMV if using an older iPad. Also, if you are running an app that defaults to a higher latency that you cannot bring down, try putting it in Audiobus, where you can adjust it and the app will then lock to it.
Good point on the buffer size. I've not used Tone Stack for a while. Jamup is definitely behind the game, Bias certainly sounds better than it, I remember Tone Stack being great but limited on Bass stuff. But it's just like how many apps do you max out how many do you get set where the same sound is coming out of them I certainly think I need to make some refinements and I'm not experimenting as much as I'd like
3.
Flux app for iPhone is free at present.............
Literally paid 4 quid for it the other day, gutted
4. For the double bassists http://www.tayste.co.uk/2016/07/29/ios-double-bass/
5. Now available for the iPhone, I basically now only use my iPad for it's bigger screen, all my apps are available to me on the phone.
6. This my old one?
7. I'll be trying one of these when I see one at a local music store. I've got a house full of Sonos equipment and been considering replacing it with a decent Bluetooth speaker (£500) and I like the idea of being able to play my bass through it. My main amp for the past 3 years has been my iPad so I'm keen to give this a try and see how it fits in my setup for playing at home. I thought about trying the similar Line 6 device but that is a company that puts absolutely 0 effort into bass. Well done ashdown for pushing the boundaries 👍
8. Or if I learn my songs and stop having to read them off the ipad I can just use my phone.
9. My next iPad will be the 9.7inch Pro I can hear latency when playing double bass through jamup currently but it's a hella weird setup and I don't know whats latency, feedback or what
10.
Yes
Then don't bother with tornado
11. Also as an alternative and slightly counter intuitive, partnering a filter with another filter or a phaser has helped me get some nice wet sounds.
12.
Flux is excellent but my iPad does not have enough horsepower to run some of it with out audio issues.
But when it does have the horsepower it blows peoples minds
13. If you have flux don't bother with Turnado. If you don't have either get Flux Moog do the filtron app which you can use in audiobus to create some interesting stuff
14. Do you have Flux?
15.
Having got both (I blame TaySte!) I'd say I can't hear a huge difference through phones and live it won't make a difference but the fact jam up goes across both iPhone and iPad that's the win for me. Jamup seems more intuitive to me
Tiny bit more depth to Bias but it's the routing where it wins if you're getting complex. But as above I still use Jamup as it's where I started and I've really nailed everything in it and it's nice having the iphone as a backup/what I practice with headphones with. Bias FX is coming for the iphone but it will be a separate app, so you'll pay for bias fx, buy the in app purchases and then have to do it all again to run it on a phone. Jamup does not have this issue but I did end up buying almost all the effects for XT and Pro but generally when they were on sale. That said if you get serious about it (like it's my only fx setup now) there is no harm in having all of it, even if you max out Jamup, Jamup Pro, Bias Fx, Bias (Amps), Amplitube, Ampkit, Turnado, Tonestack and Flux:fx you'll still have only spent the same as 2-3 pedals. It's only time setting them all up that becomes the issue then. Still the best move I made musically, using my setup in 5 bands on electric and double bass.
16. Well quality is subjective, I'd say Bias ones are better. But I'm so heavily invested in Jamup (and it does the job) it's a lot of effort for me to switch. If I was starting again I'd start with Bias (that said not having an iPhone version is a downside as effectively between Jamup and Jamup Pro, I have 4 apps available to me across 2 devices, all presets synced etc and this gives me a lot of backups) But in short Bias sounds better and is far more flexible
17. Bump. I've also found a load of Level 42 albums, probably close to the whole discography if anyone is a fan? Let me know and I'll get some prices together for them.
18. I'm potentially up for this, 2nd works for me.
19. Good enough for Prince https://youtu.be/hQDFmmougCM Glwts
