Aren’t all shops allowed to open on Monday? Maybe you can find somewhere that has as many of the ones you like in stock and have a noodle

I got the Tacklife solder iron box on amazon - it’s done the job nicely for me for bits and bobs got one of those octopus 3rd hands and use the advice given up top. I just bowled in there and didn’t practice and learnt as I messed up!

Love a bit of Kenny - it’s how we all start!
-
Pleasure - you are a top chap to deal with. Or make a body? This is my 51p coming through, happy to post you a paper template if you want.....

Is the one on reverb? i was just about to post the link

Hölger often points out it’s the placement and the preamp - the MM pick up in his TM, VM basses etc are not trying to recreate the Ray sound. Cedar and Paulownia are a little softer but wood like Cedar has been used to build ships and garden furniture, cabinets etc for years - I don’t reckon it will disintegrate! So far as lightweight basses.... I will always Champion Sandberg - amazing basses and company. The SL Hohner headless - very light as it’s like a lollipop on me and I have upgraded to the EMG pick ups - does a great job. My bitsa P sourcing a light wood body (this was actually a Fender USA Alder one) and popping a status graphite neck and pick up of choice is another option and within budget. Status Stealth bass - it’s light as a feather and a monster tone. Loads of options for your cash!

I got incredibly lucky and picked up an amazing second hand deal on it alongside a Tonestyler bass ten. If you want new, he has a backlog but it’s worth it. A mate of mine couldn’t stomach the wait and got the Barenuckle 58 p instead - great pick up, in our opinion the creamery edged it

Pole pieces need a clean, but if a 3 band EQ is your thang..... https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/sandberg-california-vm5-supreme/1368379167?

Shut up! Someone get it!
-
Good man - i have the 58 P - glorious
-
Glad you are getting there with it. The Ray being a Ray will always be a bit more Zingy, what you have is a P plus bass so that may account Enjoy tinkering!
-
Badass Good man and congrats
-
As in no one likes them.......?

https://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk One of the Best in the U.K. and further afield, I’d sell the bass With it in removing it before I sell his pick up I have in it

I hope the Ultra works out for you, but in reference to the above, these you tube videos make it Really difficult. For example Darkglass pedals and amp are peppered with Nu Metal etc demo’s but they are way more versatile if you spend time with them, same for Tech21 DP3X as an example. You have to trust your gut, is Fender is where it lies, good man, Sandberg will always be there if you change your mind
-
In all honesty though, you won’t go wrong with either, enough quality people use Sandberg as use Fender https://www.sandberg-guitars.de/artists/
-
I know - those Fender Custom shop chaps don’t know how to relic.......😜
-
That is a nice looking bass as well
-
Never mind........🤗 I must admit To owning one myself - the new Squier Mini P bass is pretty darn good! I will day this as a massive Sandberg fan - Fender probably Do the simple P bass Better and that’s across old and new shape Sandy’s - the rest of the lines for me are edged by Sandberg

Nothing much wrong with your statement at all, as it comes down to personal preference, all people can talk about is their own experiences. Without going into G&L too much, build quality is amazing, but those MFD pick ups Are properly marmite-that’s probably it’s biggest failing. Sound wise - as you say we all have our own ideas, I defo wouldn’t say they are characterless, but that’s me, it’s a shame you can’t try one at the moment to see whether or not in your hands it works for you. Value - second hand the value drops more comparing the ranges starting prices in Sandberg, that just means it’s more bargain territory in my eyes. What are we left with to differentiate As there are subjective matters here - customer service, I know Hölger and Mike have driven huge distances In a day to sort out a bass for one of theiR artists that was damaged in transit on the day of a show, taking a rescue kit and doing it backstage. Ask @CameronJ about his personal service. He bought an Electra (‘budget’ range) second hand and broke a tuning peg, his own fault (clumsy man!). Emailed Sandberg asking about where to buy a replacement - the owner Hölger personally replied and sent one out for free. Thats a big reason why I would choose Sandberg over other companies - you wouldn’t see the CEO/owner of most companies doing that. whatever you get - I hope you enjoy tho

And it’s not Tonto! Good work buddy
