  1. I nearly skipped this because of the title... So Yes. Who the hell are they. But, with dwindling members, they'll end up like Trigger's broom. They were awesome in their heyday though
  2. fleabag didn't notice a thing. I'm a bit crooked meself so it looks straight from where i am
  3. Aha - that makes sense , thanks. I cant help thinking that they ship the pickups out with red + green twisted together for series humbucking.
  4. I dont own a multimeter, but why do you think the pickup arrived out of the box with red + green twisted together , on both pickups ?
  5. Turns out that ABU has gone rogue and no longer did it's job, causing the above in my last post and more misdemeanours on other sites. Kicked out ABU, and drafted in uBlock Origin for Firefox and all is right with the world.
  6. I should add, just to confuse matters, that the pickups from new, had the green and red wires twisted together, which suggests thats the series option ?? I just have feeling that me twisting black and white wires together seems wrong, as does twisting green and bare wires together. Surley most manufacturers use black as ground, and in this case, black + bare together for grounding. Rightly or wrongly, i would have thought red+ green together would be series, black+bare would be ground and white would be the hot ?
  7. I'm about to install a pair of KA Claymore soapbars, and the bass will just be Vol Vol Tone, as per a Jazz bass. But JB wiring uses each centre lug on the Vol pots for hot wires from pickups. See .jpg The KA wiring, ( 2nd pic ) as downloaded from KA, uses the outside lug , and they only show one pot, not two, which i need. I'm soldering KA pup black and white together and taping off, as per their diagram, for series only. See .jpg It seems to me that i should run the hot and grounds ( Red = hot, Green+Bare = ground ) as per the Jazz B wiring and ignore the KA diagram. But i'd like to check, as wiring is not one of my very few talents. Last pic is my actual pickup, with wires twisted together as per the KA wiring, but somehow seems wrong
  8. Rather weirdly, my ad-blocker stopped me posting any replies in any threads today. ( Firefox + Ad Blocker Ultimate ) Never done that before , no changes made by me. It just decided this all on it's own. I've been using ABU for years, but it never has hindered me on BC. Till today. I hit reply to a thread and the message box won't appear , but the ' add files ' box does. I checked ABU first and that was the problem. Soon as i disabled on here, the reply message box appreared as normal. Confused, Acacia Ave., Tonbridge Wells.
  9. There is no right answer, as we're talking very personal choice here, natch, but if that wood is decent, i would sand it back and maybe just re-stain it in a different finish, perhaps darker, ( see my Manton pic ) seal it, oil and wax finish and that's that. No paint, unless the body wood is shoddy.
  10. CSL ( Charles Somerfield Ltd ) were also very good copies
  11. It should be in ped's vault somewhere unless he's deleted it. It should only be hidden though, as that was the arrangement. I've never requested ped resurrect it since it was secreted, so it should still be somewhere in the secret files stash
  12. Yes he is. Last visit was Jan 11th
  13. There certainly is, and still maintain my original thread was probably the worst scenario dealing with a bass shop anywhere. I'm not sure back then why i asked ped to hide the thread. I'm tempted to ask him to resurrect the monstrous catalogue of BS he gave me over the course of a few months, so the uninitiated can have a good read of the bloke's nature.
  14. No probs for me. They only appear when you open a page but within a nano second, i'm scrolling the thread anyway and they've gone, so i dont understand the issue.
  15. I had one of the Peavey heads with white face panel and red word printing. Something 700 model ? I cant recall exactly. Oh.. maybe Firebass ??
  16. This may not suit you, but i would find the same bass with intact logo somewhere on the web, and save it as a .jpg. Get a decal man to make you a waterslide Hohner decal copy, then you can do a proper job sanding the laquer off, re-lacquer a coat or 2, apply decal, then lacquer till the decal edges disappear PS there's a chance that acetone will disolve the ink that your current decal is printed with so dont use acetone
  17. Various selection of knobbage, and those on plastic bags are new. The flash has caused some strange highlights, in case anyone was wondering. All metal with grub screws, apart from the 50p shaped Fendery looking ones, which are plastic push on types. Price is postage free to mainland UK
  18. They're not Chinese cables. It's Kenable's own production line, so spec is per Kenable's requirement. They're just built by the Chinese labour.
  19. Never seen any in my local Lidl. If i want a sports bra, pocket welder, or XXL lederhosen, i'm in luck
  20. Just received my Simo template and had a nice surprise. I've had Jon's templates before, but this one turned up with a beautiful engraving that Jon did off his own back. As can be seen, it was a template i needed for a Kent Armstrong Claymore soapbar, and this nice little touch from Jon was a sweet surprise. How he manages the prices of custom templates is a mystery. When we consider labour ( setting up cutting machine, ) materials, and packaging / postage, all in the price, these are a rare bargain. A big thanks to Jon
