  1. If it's any use, i have a pair of Claymores in a fretless. They're pretty fabulous IMO. Just a passive bitsa for home use, TBH, but the tone is top notch
  2. It's been a while since i actually laughed till i puked. Looks like something recycled from i dont know what. Yes i do - neck from a Black & Decker workmate, body from a wheelbarrow. Someone should humanely take an axe to it. And forget the humane bit
  3. Magniff - Roger superlungs Chapman. 10/10
  4. Limited runtime is a thing with my Nikons, ( about 15 or 20 mins ) so i guess it may well be a thing with all DSLRs that also do video. A camcorder would be better in that respect but how long do you need an interrupted video recording to be ? You only need enough recording time for the length of any track. 3 or 4 minutes, unless you're a prog rock extended songs crew. If you only need to record regular songs, a DSLR will be fine, as long as you stop the recording after each song. The limit then is just the card storage. Get a big one. If you can get deals on a Pansonic, i would go down that route. The lighting would be troublesome for either option, depending how bad it is. You may need to up the ISO but as you know, high ISO introduces digital noise. Experiment first
  5. You probably know, but son Aaaron is still here near Ashford in Kent making pickups.
  6. Some unknown old copy Jazz body. I say old because there wasn't a drilled channel for the bridge earth wire, so it must have had a metal strip for an earth. Peavey neck lovingly fretlessed by Robin Manton. The fingerboard is a joy. Armstrong Claymore soapbar humbuckers Old photos missing - see next post
  7. So size does matter. They lied to us. New cap on the left from Black Dog, listed as 0.047. Monster on the right has now been blow torched. And i have proper use of a tone control , finally. Thanks to all for helping out
  8. For some reason, i've never played till i have a blister, and have never developed fingertip callouses, though fingertips on both hands are tough. My thumbtips , in comparison are softer
  9. So, supergob + superlungs = monster
  10. Make some kind of pad, maybe sponge would do ( just ask Waddo for piece of his brain ) and tape it to the bottom half of your bass body rear. This will kick the bottom of the bass outwards. How thick you make the sponge is down to how much you need the bass to tilt
  11. Corey Glover of Living Color just sprung to mind. Vivid is a fabulous discette
  12. https://www.armstrongmusic.co.uk/electronics-and-pickups-c17/kent-armstrong-guitar-pickups-c100/kent-armstrong-bass-pickups-c101/kent-armstrong-claymore-soapbar-bass-pu-4-or-5-string-bass-pickup-neck-position-p704
  13. And this flamboyant dandy ...
  14. Danny really going for it. Superstar
  15. Ann Wilson of Heart. Superlungs
  16. Who can forget superlungs herself Stunning
  17. Strange i know, but I was suddenly wondering about vocalists with monstrous lung power. There's plenty to choose from so too many to list in one post, but i'm throwing in two out of my many faves. Howard Werth of the band Audience and PP Arnold
  18. The most wondrously musical DB player i've ever heard. If anyone doesnt know the Solid Air album by John Martyn, it's worth every penny. Thompson is prolific on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg_Utj4Aljc
  19. You'd make a good pal for my goat
  20. It's all cow manure till a blind test is done. Line up ten of the same bass, same pickups, same everything, maple board, except one of the ten has a different board. Choose which wood out of 1000's You play each bass behind a curtain, then ask the question. If anyone can pick out the odd one, i'll eat my pet goat
  21. It's Hosco binding, funny enough. You can find it almost everywhere. There's black, white, cream, black/white/ black multi , white/black/white multi, which is what i have
  22. Or as an alternative, and to be a tad different, you could do what Robin at Manton Customs did to fretless my Peavey neck There's no nasty superglue either. Smooth as a grass snake on syrup.
