1.
quick mockup
Thats looking more like my idea, thanks.
2.
that sounds pretty awesome. Any pics of it and where is it now?
No pics, and no idea where it is now, about 14 years ago it cost me £150,IIRC it was a 1972 or 73 model in Telecaster magnolia. It sounded huge but it got traded to Bass Doc,i think, for either a bass build or a lighter bass.
3. That was my first thought M/P/J fretless Precision.
4. Or have a mudbucker, precision split and a jazz like my old Telecaster bass had,13lb of bass heaven.
5. I think you are right, ebony it will be,wether it ends up as a Precision or Jazz.
6.
I'll get back to you with some mock-ups when I get time but this fella seems to cover a few bases for you at once (chrome hardware though)
Thanks, that was my inspiration for the Precision, just dont like the strat switch.
7. Thanks anyway, whereabouts in Paisley are you ? im in sunny Linwwod on sea
8. Looks to be guitars/strat only, unless im still asleep.
9. Sand wet,a tip from my custom motorcycle painting friend is to use a little bit of soap in the water, even with the finest grit paper. P.S,im almost sure the early decals were'nt laquered over, but am willing to be corrected if this is not right.
10. I have a vision of my next bass, and an offer of "is there anything at all that you would like for your 50th birthday ?" from my lovely wife. Body - Black Precision or Jazz...........hmm not decided on that yet.Precision would be P/J,Jazz would be J/J. BWB scratchplate. Jazz neck - Fretless/unlined/matching headstock. Gold Fender type hardware. EMG pickups, naturally. Anyone with photoshopping skills able to let me get a look at this in both Precision and Jazz shapes, your help will be greatly appreciated.
11.
Jazz, Ric, P ... In that order ... What have I won?
A dyslexia award.............should that not be Jazz Prick ? sorry
12.
Sell the donor mobile and buy a Stingray I do love that Jazz.
Thanks,i cant take the credit for it though, that belongs to Bass Doc,he built it for me.As for the Hawg Not likely, even though if i did sell it i could buy a vintage Precision,Jazz and Stingray.
13. Precision,Jazz,Harley Davidson = Holy Trinity
14. Having tried the Squier and the Vintage,it would have to be the Vintage for me.For some reason it feels more Fendery than the Squier does.
15.
coolest bass ever! respect!!
I have a suspicion that if Fender released an exact copy of that there would be a queue of fools a mile long.
16. I use the finest grit wet and dry paper to sand back,if you do put 10 coats of laquer on it will be ok.then polish back up with an abrasive polish to remove scratches.
17. What parts did you use ? IMO,it would look better with the gloss knocked back a bit.And another reccomendation for a tort guard.
18. The trouble is,i find, that you hear your bass/rig on stage, but you listen to some other guy playing from the audience.I doubt that many if anybody gets the same sound on stage as out front, but you probably know that already.
19. Buy a bass for what it does, not how cool other people think it is.If it under-performs in some way,do what the feck you like to it to make it perform the way you want. Its only a bass.
20.
I wonder what this one is: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EKO-VINTAGE-BASS-GUI...=item4aab3071c6
It could be many things.Firewood or landfill spring to mind.
21. For me, it has to have everything that i want. My 5 string Jazz has it all for me.The,in no particular order,sound/shape/colour/feel/ finish/hardware/a certain uniqueness to its looks, and it was built by a friend (bass doc) i might add that it has been MY bass for about 10 years, has done near on 1000 gigs,is starting to look a bit "lived in"but thats all down to me,and i love it as much as the day that i picked it up. My Precision, also built by bass doc,has it all apart from the finish. Having had literally hundreds of basses, these 2 plus a 1968 Precision,a 60's EB3 and a Hohner 2BA and a bass doc built Jazz are the only ones that ever did it for me.
