1. Is it polyphonic? And can you use it without a powered pedal? (needing the distortion kind of defeats the object of a purely passive device)
2.
Do you think so? I would expect him to get much better results if he transplanted the speakers into a cabinet that was designed specifically for them. S.P.
The speakers in question match quite nicely with the ABM cabs, maybe need a little tweak on the tuning but otherwise cool.
3.
On the other hand, if anyone knows of similar quality cable that they have experience using to connect pedals, I'd like to know. (And no: the lead between your bass and the first effect doesn't count, nor does the one that goes to your amp.)
Why not? It's the same stuff only longer... The Van Damme cable is pretty good.
4. Protium

SOLD

Bump
5. Fair play if they can make the cab faster, cheaper and get the same results at the end it doesn't make sense for them to mass produce them with thinner wood- it would just end in a thread on here titled "why are cabs so expensive"
6. Gone init
7. 1) String changes, cleaning, set up. If necessary rewiring, rebuilding, part replacement. 2) Easiest to be able to do jobs at any angle- Setups vertical to be able to bend the neck to tighten the truss rod, horizontal to clean, playing position to do action and intonation. I still find it easiest to solder when sat on the floor 3) Not really, sorry!
8. Left two bands in the last 12 months and not really doing much apart from the odd "reunion" covers gig for a bit of extra cash. Got a load of original stuff written and looking for the right people to play it with.
9.
If that fails, take some gear.
I bagsy the tartan pants
10. "jamiejames last seen today at 4:53 PM" What a scumbag.
11. Protium

SOLD
I found it did one or two sounds very well, awesome for 'playing around', but I struggled to fit it in a band situation. I do kinda miss the funk though! :-)
Agreed, very funky I very rarely use effects with the band though so it's not getting used.
12. Imagine a circle with a 7.25" radius and your fretboard is a line between two points on the circle. Using a bigger circle with a 12" radius with the same sized fretboard will be flatter. Exaggerated example: edit for clearer pic and poor english
13.
I do only use a single cab because I'm lazy and only have a small car - it's a Schroeder 1212L and I'm surprisingly happy with it.
+1, though mine is a 1210L
14. How much did it cost? (if you don't mind me asking)
15.
i emailed mark saying i was confused as to where the BTA will be made this was his reply which i find interesting us series is made in both countries, but bta 90 percent UK built US series has US speakers and sound
Maybe the ones for the American market are being built in the USA, which would make sense, saves shipping a load of 40kg amps across the Atlantic.
16. How about barefaced combo amps?
17. Seen plenty when the Doghouse was in Widnes, and a gig we played at the RAOB in Runcorn the soundguy got a severe battering for being completely useless and then insulting someones mum. All the bands got banned that night for the fight, underage drinking and someone broke all the toilet doors
18. Protium

SOLD

DOD FX25b envelope filter, SOLD Bought from pantherairsoft on here, not my cup of tea though so up for the same price I paid
19. Coming up to 4 years, hundreds of gigs and practices. The only thing that's gone wrong with my ABM is one cracked solder joint and a loose transformer bolt Awesome customer service too, both repairs were done free of charge and the amp returned within a week.
20. Not as bad as Orange (amps) though I did at least get a response
21. Basically thicker strings require a slightly longer scale to intonate properly. Common problem I would imagine, I had the same thing on my Cort 5 string. Posssible solutions: Use some washers between the bridge and ball end of the string so the single wound part of the string rests on the saddle Reduce the break angle by lowering the saddle (if possible) Move the entire bridge backwards or Bring the saddle forward again leaving it wrongly intonated and just don't play high up on that string
22. 300W, but through a fairly loud cabinet
23. If it were me I'd stop Elbow playing full stop, never mind just the encore.
24. IME a typical guitarists tone is more dependant on loads of effects rather than the speakers. I reckon continue with the bass cabs for the time being, get the much advertised but never seen speakers available first +1 on the combo comment above.
