1. I believe this is what the wiring is like:
2. Nothing, too many people are connected to the music server in the office and I cant connect
3. Well it was a prewired assembly (I'm too lazy sometimes!) so unless they've done it wrong then..I dunno. I'll take a photo when I get back from work so you can see. Thanks for the help so far (also is it fairly easy to wire in a new tone pot? I'm a bit of a n00b but I can use a soldering iron. I'd rather just make this a DIY job cause I'm guessing tone pots arent all that expensive. Dont wanna sedn this back to the states :/)
4. Yeah it was blue before! 4 coats on each wall! And it won't be neat for long! I usually go mental have a big clear out then slowly over a week mess it up again. During uni time it becomes a tip.
5. It's a standard J bass wiring as far as I'm aware. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow (Too knackered/pissed off at it to open it up again ). Can you tell what type of pot it is from the wiring? Each pot has three connections IIRC, dunno if that helps.
6.
Is there any writing on the pot to identify what value it is ? Tone pots on a passive bass are often not that effective but what you describe does sound a bit extreme.
I do believe its a 250k, with an orange drop cap.
7. See my sig but add one of these: But 2EQ with a black PG.
8.
You've got a cool room man, and i like how your amp isn't actually on top of your speaker
Thanks! ^_^ Took ages to paint but I think it was worth it!
9. I just installed some new Pups and wiring harness on my j bass. The pups work fine as do the volume pots, but the tone pot seems buggered It works in that you get either uber dark when its "off" or uber bright when you turn it past 1...and thats it. Its practically 1 or 0. Is this normal for some pots or is it deffo summat wrong? Im guessing the latter. Just my luck Any suggestions on what I do? I got it from the US so I *really* dont want to return it. Cheers, Ally.
10. Oh christ Ive been gassing for a P for a while and the colour they offer it in is perfect. I really must avoid now...
11. I hate musics shops like that, McCormacks in Glasgow is pretty bad for it, all of the staff are moody as hell and dont offer any help what so ever. Their stock is rubbish and over priced too - and a lot of it is damaged!! I saw a beautiful 50s reissue Strat in Daphne Blue hanging on the wall there, went to have a closer look only to find it had a massive dent in horn. I dont think there was even a discount on it. Same goes for a few mexi jazz basses they had there. Bleh.
12. Just use a Gotoh 201, they're practically the same bridge and at 25 quid they're a steal. I have one on my jazz bass. Looks great too. Oh and thanks for the heads up, I will not be heading into Guitar Guitar any time soon then. My wallet will kill me other wise!
13.
If you don't like it f*ck off.
Well said that man.
14. K here's my stuff. I'm 19 so I just qualify I guess Sorry for the rubbish photos: Fender MIA Jazz B/B/Rosewood, Squer VM Fretless + Tortie PG, Mark Bass LMII and Ampeg SVT 15E
15. Mine was the 120W-ish RB4. Did a good job, I got all the tones I wanted from it.
16. My old laney combo was very nice. But it was an SS.
17. 70s fenders...never understood the appeal frankly! As said though, fairly simple fix in theory. I wouldn't buy it unless it was in person though.
18. Doesn't help that the line is so important to that song too. Any fluffs, no matter how minor, are so obvious as a result
19. Green Day's longview, the bloody transitions between riffs (or lack of, more like) always gets me!
20. New York is amazing. I will live there some day, even if it is only short term.
21.
P'raps you could edit the title as such then, as I'm sure, like me, many have been in several times to find again, that it's gone
aint my topic, the objects that you seek within are in mon bedroom
22. I didn't get jack with my squier VM It's a standard, metric allen key. Roughly equivalent to that of a 3/16s size key that you use for most american made instruments. I'd check the size but I don't have any keys to hand...something tells me its about 4mm though.
