i have some ideas about this but before i share them id like to ask a few questions if i may?
1. are you looking to take 2mm per side off the entire length of the neck and therefore reducing the width at the 12 aswell? or just "increase the taper"
2. are you expecting a refret afterwards? as neck width surely corresponds to fret length. the neck will be much easier to work if there's no fretts in there.
3. are you also reducing the string spacing? or will the strings be closer to the new edge of the fingerboard
Try it with hook on the top, then if you don't like it, turn your board over and try it the other way round. If you don't like it that way, it's easier to change back..... If you DO prefer it, you should probably give up pedals.
There is an MXR BEF preset on the talkbass share folder that gets close. But it dosent get close enough.
Imho Just because a pedal CAN do somthing, dosent mean it does it well. The manta is almost exclusively used for synth sounds for me. The mictroron and mxr are much better at finger funk.
can any of you good folk help me identify this?
The Body shape appears to be a Custom (horns too smooth for a classic) , but they don't usually come with those pickups.... and what are those pickups? and the top wood for that matter... maybe quilted maple?
thanks in advance.
but the saddles are individual. Are you seriously suggesting taking 1 off and spacing the remaining 5 to an acceptable spacing????
Not to mention the whole world of pain that could open up if you were to get it wrong, it would look awful!! the saddle recess pockets would be visible through the gaps between the saddles. Just no.
sounds like a massive faff. and resale value would be £0
18 mm on a 5er is not uncommon, no need to butcher anything as im not committed to an SR. i just think they are pretty.
...Im on the hunt for an Xotic PJ really
Oh yes the SR range has a tiny body!
Not much comes in smaller than that except maybe the Cort Curbow springs to mind?
The A5 is not a chunk tho, it has very ergonomic profile.
just to answer the original question however....
Cort bass guitars are IMHO outstanding value for money, especially when buying 2nd hand.
Best 5er i ever had under 1K was a Cort A5 custom SP, and i believe they are made in the same factory as Ibanez.
this one actually...http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Cort_A5_Custom_SP_SH.htm
*that's the exact bass! i checked the serial number! not that i needed to, as that top is very unique! the person i sold it too must have traded it in.
Don't NEED anything. Just gassing
those SRs are so pretty I just couldn't consider an ATK or BTB, it would be like settling for the one of the ugly sisters!
just doing a bot of research myself and this caught my eye....

says 19mm?
if that's correct, id be seriously tempted!
i used to have an Ibby SR505 5 stringer but found the string spacing a bit too tight for me. 14mm if i recall... I notice however that the newer premium range seems to have a different bridge setup. What are the string spacings at the bridge and are they adjustable?
Interesting topic! You clearly have gone to a lot of trouble to record those!
Any chance you have a waterfall plot like the one below to show comparisons on a frequency scale?
it looks like its been buried underneath a house for 10 years. then the house burned down, and hey found it whilst digging the foundations for the new house 10 years later!!
