  1. Thanks for your input! Yes i had considered the front but ended up choosing the sides from a usability perspective and to make the housing as short as possible... but it was a close call! After thinking about it again, i guess the trend is towards top mounted jacks for space saving purposes, which very much fits the theme of this project, so i think i've decided to put the switches on the bottom now! Thanks
  2. This is a most excellent idea!
  3. EVOLUTION!!!!
  4. Ok. So I've been working on a variant of this design that reduces the size by another 17mm.... I call it the "super compact"!!! Granted there may not be much demand for this version.... But it's the one I will put on my board as I control via ES8. length is now 82mm from 154mm, that's a reduction of 46% The trade-off is that the switches are now only operated by hand! And protrude a small distance from the side of the pedal. I will be offering both designs for those that want one.
  5. i've had a few people asking me if ill give/sell them the design... After some thought, i've decided not too. Not yet anyway. I've spent quite a few hours now honing the settings to make the text look acceptable. The chances are, anybody who prints this themselves will have to do the same... Also, i'm intending on selling these things. I have sunk quite a few days into this, and by giving the design away it allows others to do the same, and therefore potentially devaluing the design
  6. Yes. Are you Yorkshireian?
  7. Beta V4 is on the board! I've spent too long on the text already, i think this is about as good as i can get it. only a few small tweaks to some features and i'm calling it complete. Watch out for emails in the next few days telling you all how to get one.
  8. Mr Sayers is surely a funk demon?
  9. My testing shows no additional noise with my setup. However, i cannot guarantee that in your environment, with your power supply, that there won't be additional noise from interference. If you want to do it yourself, shielding foil only costs a few pounds and you'll get enough to do many many projects. The additional labour it would take to shield them all is unrealistic.
  10. First test looks promising....
  11. Yeah the lettering is the main focus ATM. Getting it clearer is my priority. Im playing with some of the first layer print settings today to see if i can get more definition between the letters. The printer relies upon squishing the 1st layer into the bed for adhesion, this also has the effect of smudging the letters. .... but im on it
  12. Beta V3 is complete. Hopefully I can finalise the design today and I'll be able to print a batch this weekend. If anybody wants one, send an email to [email protected] with "future impact Housing" in the subject. Let me know where you are so I can calculate postage. Updates include: lettering/labels - added, but not totally happy with the definition. im working on it Internal screen protect - not sure yet if i'm going to fit a screen protector for shipping as its an easy fit if you want to put one on. I actually prefer it off as the numbers are brighter. small internal feature changes for better fit - No more fiddly wiggly assembly.
  13. Very useful !!!!! Thanks for sharing
  14. Beta Version 2 is a reality... There is no more space to be found inside.
  15. Its not "needed", but its probably advised to keep noise to a minimum. Although i understand that digital pedals suffer less than analogue ones. May be wrong here though. Regardless, its costs very little to actually do should anybody choose that route.
  16. Anybody that wants one can email [email protected] putting "Future Impact housing" in the subject line. Please let me know where in the world you are so i can look into postage options. Once the design is finalised, ill email everybody and let you know the details, etc.
  17. I started a Thread last week about this pedal. But @Al Krow ruined it. Hopefully yours survives
  18. That would be cool! unfortunately i've come to the realisation that nothing can protrude from the upper surface, unless it is bonded on. Its printed upside down, and so putting features on the top surface is raising the height of the whole print and adding a lot of extra support material/cost in the process
  19. Version 2 in progress. Updates include: Local thickness around features increase from 3mm to 4mm for stiffness/strength Reduced length by an additional 2.5mm to 98.5mm Moving the foot switches into the corners - after many hours thinking about this, i feel this is the best location for them if they remain on the top. Addition of parameter detents- a seperate part will clip to the underside of the parameter knob and allow for indexing. Screen recess to allow for cover branding (thanks @ped)
  20. i'm pretty sure that will work.
  21. that's way beyond my scope of work im afraid! But like i said, im happy to give someone a free one if they come up with a cool graphic!
  22. i thaught about this, but anything beyond 45 degrees would put the switch at risk of being ripped out the housing. The problem isnt the angle, its the proximity. I think its either got to be moved.... or the encoder guarded.
  23. Yes, ill give that some thought.... one idea to protect the encoder was to put some kind of wall below it/around it.... this could potentially be a meteor!
  24. Fantastic! "The Future Compact" is born!
