  1. Seen his videos before, an excellent player. No tickling the strings with his playing, he really attacks the notes. Nice, clean playing with plenty of articulation...
  2. I haven't been there for a while, but it used to be a regular place for me to buy stuff. A long time back, I remember going in there to try an Amp with my Sadowsky. Martin said " That's the highest action I have seen, can I do something with it?" Proper Bass shop, long may it continue.
  3. All these Bear jokes, are they really a necessity?
  4. Although Rebecca is terrific, (a decent singer as well), I think the OP is after UK players.
  5. Yolanda Charles - Top Dollar. But.... you might have to prize her away from the 'Hans Zimmer' touring gig !!
  6. My fave, Richard Bona. His albums are stuffed full of terrific vocals.
  7. That's interesting, because he flirted quite a bit with those styles on two of his albums, "Q's Jook Joint" & "Back On The Block". Both good albums (IMO of course).
  8. Trevor Horn.
  9. Rhonda Smith sings well. From the album ‘RS2’. She sings on most tracks. Vocals come in around 1:25.
  10. Like him or dislike him. Mark King has good phrasing and timing while doing both.
  11. ^^^^
  12. If you want an over the top, fabulous tune, with a snazzy arrangement, performed in a glitzy showbiz fashion, just call......... Will Lee...
  13. Jaco.
  14. Blimey, who are you, his Milkman ?
  15. Haha...Very good.
  16. Groove city.
  17. And if you believe interviews, so did John Lennon....
  18. Yeah, awful and very sad...One of the great “Young” film composers. Only a few days ago I was watching ‘Sicario’, a great score.
  19. I suppose that was what Quincy Jones was saying about the Beatles musical qualities....
  20. Is he though ? I have not seen him advertised doing gigs at Butlins Soul Weekends. He seems to always be popping up on US television shows, gala appearances, well just about anything. So still a regarded personality, plus the internet/social media is littered with this story. Over at 'Discogs', he has fifteen pages of credits with albums and film scores/cues still being released and re released. Also, It was only eighteen months ago that there was a BBC Proms concert of his material and achievements at a sold out Albert Hall. Depending on what review you read, his net worth over the last two/three years is quite substantial. (although it seems to vary from between $300 and $450 million). Oh Well, Quincy. To you Just another day in the business of show...
  21. The opening bars are the Bass line notes., although slower in 'Billie Jean' Then there are these elements (below) from a post elsewhere. But certainly, I wouldn't call it a Rip-Off, maybe influenced ? "The plucky synth riff (panned to the left) is exactly the same as the Billie Jean riff, expect the first note in Billie Jean is up the octave. The riff in Billie Jean is slower too. There's enough difference in the songs that it's definitely not worthy of calling the whole song a rip though".
