2.
IMO you should use pedals, or pedal switchable pres/amps for lots of different sounds.
Blimey.... a pedal for every different tone.... I would then be having lesson's from Fred Astaire .. Instead of a Bass tutor.... Garry
 3.
my EBS head used to belong to [er, was used on a clinic tour by] Mr. Marcus Miller...... in fact I'm fairly sure this was a yarn spun by Bernie to lure in suckers like me, Marcus probably signed half a dozen of the buggers! Oh well, damn fine bit of kit anyway! infact, looking at the pic it doesn't really constitute any form of proof that it's even an item of musical gear really does it!?!? maybe I just took a large piece of anodised metal to be signed by the man at one of his gigs?...... ho hum!
I got a EBS 350 from Bernie about 4 or 5 years ago , that had been signed by Marcus that morning... I unloaded it to a guy on the old Bassworld about 3 years ago... Not the same one is it...??? Or you are probably right..there's loads of signed ones about Garry
 4. I have a Agi 3 band pre-amp in my Rim Bass... which now days i use very little [pre-amp].Maybe a little treble boost for a more hi-fi slap tone. My pups have a very high output.. and in passive mode there is no tone control at all...[Just twiddle my amp , or my DI box] But i have a sound a like... Plenty of meat and warmth , I use heavy strings with a high action.. Which i think helps give me a more fatter sound... I always go for the same tone... What i am saying really is that if you are going for lots of different tones...a pre-amp is a must. But i also wonder how much is comming from your fingers....? or should be.... Saying all that , i love the active sound from my old Stingray.... Garry
 5. No James Brown Then..... Sex Machine..... Garry
 6.
John Giblin on some of the old Kate Bush stuff...
+1... And a top player at that! Garry

 12.
I track stuff through my Aguilar DB680 (valve). The Avalon U5 and the Ridge Farm are both very high quality items of studio gear. I'd love to have all three at my disposal but that would just be greedy, wouldn't it?
Blimey... That would be a tasty set of toys..... I think i am gonna try and make it to one of your band gigs , at some point. Looks like that might be a night of fun..! Garry
 13. Hey TF.. I have just checked out your band's my Space.. Cool stuff Man...Great. Garry
 14.
The only tip I'd offer is to try every mic or preamp you have for every bass or other instrument you want to record. Sometimes you'll be very pleasantly rewarded like Urb was. But valve bass preamp to record bass - a bit of a no-brainer, isn't it?
Ummm... Not sure about that... I have a Avalon U5... Not a valve insight. Lovely warm sound... Garry
 15.
Mr Jamerson was all over the verse and chorus like a rash
We talking the same Jamerson here... Or someone from a Tribute Band.? Garry
 16.
SHADO procurement advise starting with the UK list price when looking to move a pre-owned instrument and then take off at least 30-40% depending on condition, etc.
Blimey ...Some folk are being ripped , over at a place called Ebay... They are paying over £1500.00 for some old Fender thing's from the late 60's...! If memory serves me right , cost new about £600.00. Do you think someone should say something..?? Garry
 17.
how much space does he need?
Loads...!!! None of that 'Phil allgaps stuff' thats has been going on of late.. Nice Bass...Tempted myself.. Garry
 18.
And the rest of the band for that matter.
You just beat me to that one... Garry
 19.
Thats how I describe guys that get so carried away with their chops they forget the first commandment of bass - listen to the drummer
I Think the first Commandment of Bass is Listen....Full Stop.! It always amazes me the amount of guys who think it is all about chops and showing off.. Thats why the top guys end up at the top...They Listen.. Garry
 20.
and it's always nice to see a great band perform live on the telly (without having to watch come dancing!!! )
Ah....Bass Player Mr Trevor Barry He can rock a bit... Garry
 21. Crawling all over the LEAD VOCAL line... Did not help the song... So you are proberly right about his youth shinning through. Garry
 22.
I saw it last night, the guy was playing a Schecter which was unusual. I thought the band lost it a bit during the instrumental breaks and although the slap bass was a novelty to begin with, it looked a bit silly towards the end as he'd started off busy and couldn't build the dynamics of the song much further without playing more notes. Definitely technically proficient but I wasn't convinced by his musicality.
Yep . That just about summed that up. James Taylor was about the only turn on the gig , who had any feel for music.. On the the night anyway... Garry
 23.
And i would not consider myself a great Elvis Fan.. But he did some real classic's... Garry
No F%%K it...! I am a Elvis Fan... Garry
