I think it all stemmed from when Nathan East was playing while he was dancing. He certainly played on pretty much all the studio stuff. And when someone was playing for him, wasn't it because he had some illness? The gig with Nate East on. http://youtu.be/mfagqCcyE6g
I don't normally weigh in on these discussions but I had to address the notion of this video being 'sped up'. These two players are not bedroom shredders - Gergo is Gary Willis's current drummer and has played with the likes of DiMeola, Mintzer, Bullock etc. whilst Mohini is the bass player for AR Rahman's band (a very prolific composer and producer, holder of numerous music awards), she has also performed with John Mclaughlin's former bandmates Zakir Hussain and Naveen Kumar (the latter of whom I have also had the honour of playing live with) - neither of them have the need to impress through any fakery. Both artists have been playing since the tender age of 3 and have put serious hours in to their craft.
Exactly.
Would not use a pc for recording , Mac is the only way to go for serious recording, there are always issues with pc been there done that. no matter the power of the pc/lapotop they just don't hack it for multitrack recording don.t waste your money on a pc is my 20 years recording music advice!!!!
They are both reliable and are often used together these days. A popular set up in the media music world, especially with composers. PC or Mac running VSL VE5 slaved with Mac or PC, Anything from two machines via Ethernet upwards in combinations of Mac and PC. Or even just one Puter (PC or Mac) running VSL. All FX and Soft Synths are then hosted outside of the DAW, resulting in no CPU hit on the DAW. Things have changed a lot in twenty years.

How The Beatles still grip Liverpool ...
lowdown replied to EssentialTension's topic in General Discussion
Given that the majority of Beatles songs were Lennon/McCartney collaborations (even in their later period there was still an element of collaboration) I think it fair to say that, broadly, they were better together than apart.
I kinda agree, although 'Wings' were a pretty big selling successful band. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_McCartney_and_Wings -
We happen to be very proud of Lord Sir Jagger of Dartford I'll have you know...
Ha, Ha, nice try. That's John Travolta. -
Found another site listing a whole host of free Kontakt (full version usually) virtual instruments: http://bigcatinstrum...blogspot.co.uk/
Looks like Spitfire Audio are giving away a little freebie very soon (well for folks who donated in the £2.00 Labs section). Check your inbox on Feb 23rd. http://vi-control.net/community/threads/spitfire-audio-labs-a-big-thank-you.51814/#post-3938324
I think your missing my point. All I'm saying is, when a bass chat member asks a more than elementary question about anything band related my answer for a 17 year old is going to be different from my answer to a 60 year-old member most of the time. For example, to a 17 year old I might say; "Sounds like a good idea, you have your whole life ahead of you, go for it." Same question to a 60 year old my answer might be; "You do realize your 60 years old?" Blue
Hey Blue, I presume you are talking about after gig party antics with the groupies?

Best Valentine's gifts ever! (Thankyou Mrs Painy) - NOW WITH REVIEWS!
lowdown replied to Painy's topic in General Discussion
Well I can already confirm the Squier is a definite keeper. I've owned basses that cost well over 4 grand and played basses costing up to 3 times that on plenty of occasions and this bass is, for me, the perfect example of how all those big price tags mean absolutely nothing. This bass just sits in my hands in a way that no other bass ever has and I've managed to get the action down to a fag-papers thickness with no fret buzz and without having to touch the truss rod. Can't wait to hear it at full gig volume now
Look forward to seeing it next week in Basses For Sale. -
but Squire was playing in a tighter context, he had to work with vocals as well as instrumentation.
Jaco working with Joni Mitchell, there is some delightful playing from him.

I didn't know anything about them, but that is just tragic to read.

There is a selection of various cover versions on the OP's link. The Sting tune works well. http://youtu.be/zmbdbHFsLSI

Great playing all round, plus someone has some serious arranging chops!
What..? A stop-motion dive of a scantily-clad girl into a picturesque lake is not cinematic enough..?
Indeed, and it's been done before (not just in Lakes). Ten minutes of manic arranging. http://youtu.be/csG6MBYsmOU
I'll be away later on this month with family affairs, so I'll put this up now, as it won't be getting any better ...
Didn't Jaz Lochrie do a lot of work after the album came out....
Yep, then spent many years in Mama Mia, as well as the Paul Rodgers gig. EDIT. When typing Rogers, make sure you read before you post. I didn't, but I think I got away with it. -
Just grabbed that. Love the sound of it. It's quite unique isn't it? It'll stand out nicely in a mix. I also went for Scary Strings, Hensons Frozen Strings and ThunderVox from the Spitfire Audio lab range. They give the money to charity so worth a punt without hearing them first.
Ha,ha, I pretty much have all those. Although originally, quite a few were free. But, even at a couple of quid a go (and for charity at that), well worth it. Just a heads up, any one with the full version of Kontakt, will have the full library with it. The Orchestral patches, although now old and limp sounding against the new libs, do have plenty going for them. Just a little bit of work needed. Mike Verta, has a demo with just the Kontakt VSL sounds. http://mikeverta.com/wordpress/music/galaxy-quest-mock-up/
