This is Japanese, not Chinese... And it's simply translated, not masquerading. So because you don't like the look of the official Luminlay website you don't go any further. 🤦🏻♂️ I've ordered several times from them, it's fast, reliable and easy, and if you don't want to buy fake Luminlay products, better go there and buy directly from them. That said @dmccombe7, you were right...

Otherwise, you can buy the real deal by Luminlay, it's not that expensive at all (I bought a few over the years that have gone with the basses when I sold them): https://meisterworks.myshopify.com/en-gb/collections/luminlay-for-top-position/products/luminlay-ll-1

Your smartphone torch will do the job. I have and have had Luminlay's on many basses. 😉

I didn't know that porn shops were selling instruments, I'll need to check... And who is Jeddy Lee: a character from Star Wars?

The dead spot on the D on the G string is typical from Fender basses, that's the reason of the enlarged headstock of the second version of the Precision Bass to fight this dead spot, which, by the way, is simply linked to the resonant frequency of the whole instruments. By enlarging or removing the headstock and shaping the body (which is what classical luthiers do when tuning the woods they use, that said, just proving by the absurd that an electric instrument is before all an acoustic instrument) you can get rid of this dead spot by moving it to a place where it's not annoying (it will still be here, but you won't hear it anymore). Changing the mass of the tuners (lighter or heavier) or the bridge (again lighter or heavier) could also help. You can try the Fatfinger, a patented system bought by Fender and now sold by them as a sustain enhancer... https://www.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/miscellaneous/fatfinger-guitar-sustain-enhancer/0992180100.html

To make it easier, I have my own signature basses. 🤔🤪

So, I'm the only one removing flats... -
You mean the one I bought for peanuts just before lunch was yours ? You could have put some new strings on it...
-
I had the two of them.

No fan in both versions.

I've got the title for the live: Show me the way for going home.

I've used an FRFR solution for some time, but wasn't that convinced by the tone I got, there was always missing something. It was a GSS FRFR 12+6 coupled to different pedal preamps : MarkBass Ground Stereo Pre (Alain Caron Signature), TrickFish Trilobite (twin Mike Pope Flexcore) or BassLab Step About (Greg Howard Signature). I have severe back problems with a full official and medical recognition of my condition. So, I ended up with a brand new generation GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon 800 Combo (800 Watts/4 Ohms or 450 Watts on its own with a 12 inches speaker + tweeter), weighting ... 8.2 kilos and for more power, if needed, I also bought the brand new generation GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon AT112+ (450 Watts/8 Ohms, same speaker configuration) weighting 6.3 kilos. When I received them by courier, I thought they forgot to put the combo and the cabinet in the boxes as it was so light... Now, it sounds the way I want.

Jaco played some fivers in his career and never pull out the frets himself, but bought the bass already defretted. He simply put tons of (boat) epoxy paint on the neck to make it playable and took it to a gig: the rest is history. Having an utterly over dimensioned ego, he pretended afterwards that he had the idea of pulling out the frets himself as it helped having an even bigger aura on the music scene, so he became what he wanted to be: a god. -

On an island far away, at least for me. -
Amazing 😍😍😍😍

A great bassist for sure with that terrific P-Bass tone (even if I really can't stand Morrissey). May he rest in peace.

Try to put the strap the other way round on the upper horn, to the front not the rear, I always found the bass was better balanced this way. 😉 Nice photo, that said.

Easy, as there is one: Michel Hatzigeorgiou. -
@Dood Could it be worthy if we all watch your (to me at least) excellent reviews on your YouTube channel ? Do you get some income from the online bass magazines you make the videos for if we all watch them too ? Just in case, here is the link to most of @Dood reviews: Maybe a mod could highlight this excellent thread and put it on top. Calling @ped for this...
