The logo on the headstock and the shape of the headstock says that it's a Schack bass. They've been building him a few basses and maybe this acoustic one.
-
In this case, I totally agree with your point of view.
-
But a luthier is tuning his woods and crafting his instruments according to this. With CNC or mass production instruments à la Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Yamaha or ..., good instruments are just a lottery.
-
Except that Jens Ritter is German and making instruments in Germany. 😉
-
Christophe LEDUC is earning his living (not that much, that said) without any CNC and he's working totally alone. You still can get a totally hand made 4 strings Masterpiece bass for exactly 4400 Euros (active bass with high end woods, pickups and preamp).

It's exhausting, I know, I've been through this with @binky_bass for the Aries I sold him and which arrived in pieces. And it took 8 weeks to get a full refund. -

Go see a lawyer and contact the press : they hate this kind of free advertising. -
Got Marco's Mayones Comodous Custom 5 and everything was fine. The bass is new, just as described, Marco is a great guy and we had a warm welcome. I also had the opportunity to give a try to his home made basses, which are very good. You can deal with Marco in total confidence. Zorba says hello to Milo. 😉

Been to Marco's place yesterday. A very nice chap to talk to. We also had a very warm welcome. I tried all his basses and, even if there are some slight adjustments to be done, Marco has real skill for building basses with almost nothing. And even if he is saying the opposite, he is a good player too. His basses are not raw instruments, but very well done ones and sound very good in passive mode as it's his way of imagining a bass. The 36 inches fretless bass has a really nice tone, but I can't play 36 inches scale anymore for medical reasons. I guess it will be the Infinga 4 that will be touring.

Playing bass for more than 30 years, mainly 6 strings fretless basses, I've tried almost every strings available on the market, including exposed core and taper core ones, and always came back to the D'Addario XL Nickel Round Wound (EXL170 4 to 6 in my case). I also was a great fan of the Flex Steels, but they disappeared. I've now restrung all my basses with these EXL170 (4 to 6) and must admit it's the best tone I can get. I was about to put NYXL32130 on my main fretless bass (Leduc Masterpiece MP 628 SF), but was not sure I had to do it because I really love the EXL170-6 tone and feel. But the NYXL32130 will be perfect for my Leduc PAD 6 (all padauk 6 strings fretted bass) as they will highlight the ultra fast response and punch of that wood. Can't wait to try them.

@Grangur : I always put tape over the bar-code and just like you said at least one more printed label on the parcel and one inside. Plus, most of the time I put tape all over the parcel, in case they leave it in a puddle of water or outside when heavy raining. Having worked as a logistics clerk for the Belgian railway parcels facility, I can tell you that people working at the depot absolutely don't give a sh*t about your parcels, especially when labelled "Fragile". They always throw them, play football with them and if they land in the wrong rack, your parcel will stay there. It's a real pity working with such persons. And they have no excuses for this behaviour, they are just stupid. Sorry to be harsh, but that's the plain truth. So knowing that, I take the greatest care when making parcels, even taking pictures during the process and ALWAYS take the extra insurance, because I know it will absolutely not be handled with care. -
Sold some pickups and preamp to Johann. Everything was fast, smooth and easy. Would do business again with him. Cheers mate.
