  1. Some info re. Bone conduction effecting hearing loss https://www.audiologyonline.com/ask-the-experts/hearing-loss-through-bone-conduction-522 Question If a patient wears earmuffs in combination with custom made earplugs, can you still get hearing loss through bone conduction (through the skull) when shooting a variety of guns? What is the rate of attenuation from external noise to the cochlea through bone conduction? Answer The limits to the attenuation for a perfectly attenuating hearing protector, that are imposed by the flanking bone-conduction pathways, vary from about 40 - 60 dB across frequency. This means that even if a hearing protector could block all of the sound entering the earcanal, that sound attenuated by 40 to 60 dB would still get though to the cochlea, and like the sound transmitted via the air-conduction pathway, this energy can cause hearing loss. However, in all but the most extreme environments, this will be sufficient protection. For all but the most susceptible ears and all but the most extreme amounts of gunfire, noise reduction that equals the attenuation imposed by the bone-conduction limits should be quite sufficient. The much larger issue is making sure that the shooter is properly wearing the single or double hearing protection devices to get the maximum protection they can provide.
  2. I can't find anything online thay suggests ear plugs don't work, there is guidance about use (making sure they're in correctly etc) but all the reports I can find indicate they're as good as ear defenders. @Billy Apple does your man have any peer reviewed studies published we could take a look at (don't expect an answer now, just if you could ask when you next speak)? Since developing tinnitus I've become more protective over my hearing so want to make sure I'm fully informed ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  3. @mcnach Tbh I've only used them in the studio, but our guitarist and keyboardist were in constant competition to be heard, so within 30mins we were at serious volume ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ @wateroftyne That scheme is really interesting, I'm not playing atm but when I'm back in the groove I'll take a look at the ACS's ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  4. @4000 I use these, they work great for me, look pretty cool too. Wish I'd had them a few years ago tbh https://www.ear-plugs.co.uk/products/isolate-aluminium-ear-plugs Interesting to hear about your tinnitus, I developed it about 2 years ago and whilst it's not too bad, it does P me off and I'd love to get rid. Did your chiro do anything specifically or was it an accidental bonus of back/neck work (my back is knackered too)
  5. @casapete yeah, didn't think about the truss rod ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  6. Don't quite get why he needs the break the neck before running everything through the bandsaw. Just feels a bit, I dunno, wanton?
  7. @lou24d53 yep, it's active or passive
  8. Hah ๐Ÿ˜
  9. As long as you're having fun, that's a great sign. All I'd say is practice one finger per fret as much as possible ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  10. How are you getting on with this one?
  11. Getting there fella! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป
  12. The fella narrating this video certainly agrees with the tax writeoff theory and it does the most likely reason. Worst bit of that video is watching the neck stamp on a Pelham blue 335 in the factory demolition. Monsters.
  13. Sure there are plenty of music schools who would have been grateful if Gibson (or whoever mashed them up) donated them instead. Better publicity too.
  14. That is weird! Tbh, I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't said anything and I had to literally sniff the pickups, so it'll definitely fade.
  15. @Ed_S well, I never thought I'd say this, but I just had a sniff of the pickups on my TT4 (which is about 1 year old) and they smell a bit like TCP..? My two older Sandys both smell of nowt.
  16. +1 I've got one too and love it, absolute player. Funnily enough, in my last funk and soul band I was struggling to get a suitable tone with my Sandbergs so took my corvette and it sounded immense.
  17. Jesus, I hope they're not selling anything from the toilets...
  18. Cheers. I do totally understand where you're coming from, it's just that this type of direct and honest (as well as free) feedback is worth it's weight in gold. In my last role, one of our businesses provided customer service for a number of high profile clients in the transport industry. When we did our quarterly review of customer feedback, we actively looked for the negative in order to understand where we were going wrong so we could make the necessary improvements. Nobody took it personally (unless it was aimed at a specific agent) as its seen as fundamental to business development and improvement of customer services. In regards to the LBGS, if there is a significant drop in ticket sales for the bass show (I'm not saying there will be, just hypothetically) , the feedback received from this site (as well as others no doubt) will help inform the organisers of why and what needs to be done to rectify next year.
  19. With respect, I'm not seeing anyone being rude (although there are now 8 pages of comments, so there may be some examples?), what I'm seeing is honest feedback from the Shows key demographic to a significant change in their key offering. If there is an overwhelming trend towards the negative in the feedback received, this should be a cause for concern within any organisation. This is the sort of information most organisations would dream of receiving and often pay handsomely for, as it highlights areas for improvement and response to changes.
  20. Haha brilliant ๐Ÿ˜ I look at it more like a piece of the Berlin Wall, which you can also get on the Bay. This one is ยฃ95, but there are smaller pieces for a lot less - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323837548836
  21. It wasn't. Most (if not all) of what's been written in these posts is just self-depreciating banter, I'm sure most of the commentators are poking fun at themselves more than their partners (using the old 'er indoors" line) and wouldn't have a problem "owning up" to a new purchase. There is however a much darker side, as actually having to hide one's spending can be the type of behaviour exhibited in an abusive relationship (from relate) - https://www.relate.org.uk/relationship-help/help-separation-and-divorce/preventing-harm/abusive-relationships Types of abuse Abuse can be: Physical, with behaviour such as pushing, hitting or throwing things. Verbal, where one partner constantly puts down the other or shouts. Controlling, where one partner exerts control over the other, perhaps sexually or financially. In any relationship, whatever your sexuality, age, income, or background. Its extremely difficult for an abused partner to leave an abusive relationship through fear of (though not limited to) retribution, fear of being alone, commitment to family (kids usually, though also extended family), financial commitment (mortgage etc). Mine too, although I've been in relationships in the past where this wasn't the case.
  22. I've always known it as "I haven't got a Scooby" (Scooby Doo / Clue) ๐Ÿ˜

  24. @Silvia Bluejay could you hit me up with a link to the forum rules please? A search for Forum & Rules brings up 10k results... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Cheers
