  1. Do it! Put them on my Sandberg and Dingwall 5er.
  2. Aye it’s lovely stuff. Really brought out the colours and grain in the walnut. Very impressed so far.
  3. Yeah sorry that’s what I forgot to say, first 2 coats 50/50 oil and spirit. Then all oil after. It does look well. Hoping to have it all put together and finished this week 🤞
  4. I didn’t. I think working the oil in with 0000 wire wool for first 3-5 coats makes a slurry which fills in the grain. Well that’s what I’ve found so far. This is my first build so still learning. I’m sure more experienced guys can advise. On the body I’m painting I have grain filled as I want a clean ish finish.
  5. Walnut one almost ready to assemble. Lots and lots of tru oil and it’s looking bloody lovely. The other is primed, grain filled and mist coated ready for wet coats and lacquer starting tomorrow. Ending up Candy Apple Red 😁
  6. Price drop to £1900 until Monday.
  7. Well played
  8. Awesome things these. Had one, actually owned it twice, bloody excellent for the money. Have a bump on me, afraid I only have a 78 Ray in Black for sale otherwise....
  9. Lots of sanding, shaping and more sanding. First coat of oil down on the natural one. 50-50 coat first and let that dry overnight. I am going to paint on, sorry gents! Really enjoying it so far and the grain on the walnut one is lovely.
  10. I believe I have this bass now. It is very good indeed.
  11. Exactly what I did, but on all my P basses, oh and the Stingray too
  12. Bought for a project but change of direction so up for grabs. Precision /Tele '51 style bass 20 fret neck. Canadian maple neck and fretboard 38.5 /39 mm at nut (same as Jazz Bass) and 63.5 / 64mm at butt. Finished in vintage amber nitrocellulose lacquer. 20 2.7mm medium jumbo cupronickel frets and abalone fret dots.Double truss rod with 4mm allen wrench adjustment at headstock.Side dots 2mm black and 16"/ 406mm radius.
  13. Any good to anyone? Happy to post or collect Hexham.
  14. This bad boy, in both. Bloody good!
  15. Ah man it’s amazing. I’ve used the wood for mates guitar, telecaster shape with P90 pick ups, he uses it for Fu Fighters too, and it sounded mighty. It’s now his number 1 go to which is what got me thinking. The P sounded huge with the ‘62 pups and wiring/capacitor. Can not wait. Got a 2 week space between the gig today so that’s my target!
  16. Yeah got the pics and stuff too bud. Hopefully have one complete this week. Sounds bloody great too!
  17. Sweet cheers man 👍
  18. Well dry run on each was a success so more shaping and sanding on the bodies and hopefully get the natural finish one done next week (May paint one). The ‘62 custom shop pick ups sounded mighty. Natural finish, what do you guys recommend? I use OSMO polyx oil on furniture and stuff so that may work? Also heard gun stock oil. Really want to bring the grain out now. Many help appreciated
  19. Yep, took me almost 30 years to realise the sound and bass I wanted was pretty much the same one I started with. P basses rock... I have 5😂. Oh and if I were you I would look for a Nate Mendel Sig series ( Sure there's one on here, just sold mine ). Amazing quality, sound, nice neck and 40mm nut and plays killer. You wouldn't be disappointed.
  20. I don't think its an issue. certainly not loud loud! I would doubt if you would ever notice unless in a studio and even then its not that bad. I certainly never stopped and thought, that fan is awful noisy? Maybe I got a super quiet one?😉😁
  21. Thanks dude, yeah it’s a beauty. May just put a neck back on it
  22. Yeah I’m going to rehearsal Thu so will try it out, all being well I’ll gig it on Sat
