1. We've just swapped our Wals between England and Germany and it's been a real pleasure to deal with Rob. Excellent communication and very true to his word! A very generous and caring chap, too! I can only recommend dealing with Rob and would always do so again without hesitation. Fingers crossed tomorrow I'm going to receive his Shedua Wal 6 via UPS and he's going to get my fretless Sycamore Wal MKI on Thursday. Wal happiness Cheers again for the smooth swap Rob!
2.
Was lovely to meet Paul yesterday, he's such a passion for building the best instruments he can. We were talking about pricing in the future and it was obvious that compromise was not part of his vocabulary. He wanted every part of the instruments he makes to be faithful to the original design whilst using the best of materials for everything. So much goes into these, there was a guy chrome plating individual bridge saddles. Just the bridge looked like a work of art let alone everything else... I mentioned you when I dropped off the Shedua sixer and he said he'd set up basses for you in the past and would use the same strings, action etc. as the others you've had The only differences between the new sixer and the Shedua one are the tuners (Gotoh on the Shedua and Hipshot on the Ziricote) and the neck profile is slightly different (chunkier on the Ziricote and flatter on the Shedua) also the Shedua has a gloss finish on the back of the neck, the Ziricote is satin. They both weigh the same (11.2lb) and aside from a few scuffs on the body and some of the chrome plating flaking on the bridge on the Shedua (it is 20 years old) the basses are almost identical.
Great Rob! Yes, indeed Paul has already built three "new" Wals for me: the white MKII and the green MKI shown on the Wal gallery page, and the new fretless one you're going to get soon. All of them are flawless and if money wasn't an issue they'd all have stayed with me here ... I was thinking about asking you to have Paul switch the old Gotoh tuners for new Hipshot Ultralight ones while the Shedua is with him for service? Doable? Best wishes from scorching hot Germany Oliver
3. Wow Rob - that sixer looks so organic - Paul really has a very good eye for proportions and which dark/light patches of wood facings to use where. I remember my green MKI which looked like a scarabeus bug with its sycamore facings. Enjoy it!
4. My current rig minus the Darkglass Duality Fuzz and Boss DD: Glockenklang Blue Sky + Mesa Boogie Diesel cabs
5. Great news Rob! So maybe I'm going to be into playing sixstring again very soon Order one more if you can afford it - you can't have enough of these fine basses I own three of them and each of them is just awesome. Your sixer is going to be my 15th Wal - I guess I definately have the Wal virus. Cheers Oliver
6.
My new Ziricote MK3 sixer is due in six weeks so I decided it might be time to think about moving on my Shedua MK3 sixer... so I replied to a buyers PM who has been interested for a while and put a plan in place to sell it on... ... and then I noticed he had put this up for sale to raise the funds; a 2014 fretless MK1 with gorgeous stained sycamore facings. ... and so a trade was done and following the arrival of my new MK3 and a service of my current one, this beauty will be making it's way to me Can't wait...
Hey Rob, haven't been on the show your Wals thread for a long time - wow - your sixer's going to be absolutely awesome! That ziricote looks fantastic! Yes - the MK I fretless is mine a wonderful instrument with a great tone and playability - I reckoned that since I purchased a fretless MKII fiver Wal from 1995 in mint condition while waiting for the new one to arrive (guess a lot of us does that to pass the time until that new one arrives ...) I should sell on the new MKI to get some money together for your lovely shedua sixer, since no one seems interested in buying my Taylor AB4 acoustic bass. Can hardly wait for the sixer now - having owned two sixers already: jensenmann's fretless one and little eel's one which had been fretted. I know I shouldn't have sold them at that time ...
7. Sold. Stays in Germany
8. pm'ed you WAL calling ...
9.
Holy Mary Mother of God!!
That MK2 from 2010 is mine - still beating every other Wal I've owned. The offered MKI looks awesome, too. Best of luck with the sale jfader101!
10. Comno and I just did a straight swap - everything went smoothly and very satisfactorily. I got his Ken Smith and he my Alembic. Very trustworthy and honest guy. Cheers again for making that trade possible!
11. Great basses and a great and honest bloke from the Netherlands! Best of luck with the sale mate! PS: The Alembic is still waiting here for you
12. Hi Zom, just pm'ed you the data. Seems your gmx address doesn't work as it should? Best regards Oliver
13. I can only recommend buying from Tom - a very honest and trustworthy guy - plus he's selling my old red Wal fiver which is just a fantastic instrument. Only reason I sold it on was the weight. Otherwise I'd have kept it. Someone snatch that beauty! Best of luck with the sale Tom!
14. Bought a Mesa PH from Rob - a really nice, helpful and honest bloke! I can only recommend buying from him! Cheers for that great cab, Rob!
15.
I am sorry for the tease... i made up my mind and sold other stuff. I just can't sell her.
Absolutely understandable decision
16. Bump for a very trustworthy German basschatter - that Wal was mine for a short period of time after having swapped it for my Wal 6 fretless with "Funkgod". Then I got my new Wal MK I with sycamore facings from Paul and thus sold the Irish Yew Wal to djaxup. The Wal is in fantastic condition - I can really second that. Someone go for it! Viel Glück beim Verkauf Timm!
17. Great guy - was very patient and honest when something was wrong with the stageclix I sold to him. He made sure it came back to me very safely, so that I now can contact stageclix about it and have them repair/replace it. Cheers again Roger! And keep rocking!
18. Hi Rubis, the pieces look great! This is going to be an awesome-looking bass. Just be very careful when working with the wenge: its dust is very toxic and those tiny splinters that come off it and get in the skin will most likely inflame. Greetz
19. Hi all, I've decided to sell my Stageclix Jack in the original package including a brand new extension kit by Stageclix with the cable and leather pouch (plus original invoice by Thomann) for attaching the sender to a strap. It's in excellent used condition - only some small scratches on the plastic. Reason for selling is I just don't really use/need it. I'm in Germany. Shipping costs to discuss. Some info from the manufacturer and pictures can be found here: http://stageclix.com/ Bestest Oliver
