1. Cheers Lewis this one is also quite light for a Wal and it balances very well (as they all do).
 2. This tonemonster is now sold - staying in Germany

 4. would love to order another mk2 5 fretless with walnut faces ... unfortunately, not only the pound lost some of its force - the euro, too.
 5. Me with my black MKII Geddy live on stage a couple of days ago - check out Antz On Sugar if you want to hear it, too Man that bass has it all
 6. fantastic collection Mark! @ thestick: maybe you're in for a third Wal soon? and here's a very bad family pic featuring the refinished black MK II, a 1991 MKII fretless and a 1996 MKIII fiver:
 7.
That's awesome! Did he say what was wrong with the pickup?
Mike - Paul said he hasn't come across anything like that before. He reckons it to be a freak tiredness of the plastic housing. It was the part of the PU with the spring under the screw where you can alter the height of the overall PU (see pic). The plastic just surrendered to the increased pressure of the spring and screw and just broke in two. I guess Paul justed replaced the housing.
 8. phew - just paid for the refin and service, plus shipping ... 1350GBP. But it's definately worth it. Wouldn't have let anybody else but Paul Herman touch that Wal. Can't wait to play the bass again
 9.
Oliver, you´re killing me....
10.
Superb Oliver!
cheers mike!
 11.
yeah Mike would be easier just doing that, but I also want to trim the herd a bit - keeping it down to 3 Wals in all, and the white one is also very light and thus a perfect live instrument for me. Further, the white one has to get serviced by Paul since there was a freak tiredness within one of the plastic housings of the pickups.
So it's done: waiting for it to be shipped first week of May
 12. Hey dood, I run my Wals into the Symmetry, then into and MXR bass envelope, then into the Darkglass Vintage, into the B3K and then into an MXR Bass Chorus and a Carbon copy. Formerly I also had a Duality in front of the Vintage, but that was just too much going into a Mesa Walkabout w/ two 1x15" Diesel cabs ... I found that pairing the vintage with the b3k is the way to go for me and my (Rock)band. ta Oliver
 13. Oh yeah - I was its first owner - what a gorgeous Wal that is ... someone will be very pleased with it. GLWTS Rob!
 14.
Wow, hate to see you do that to such a beautiful -and I mean really beautiful- white Wal. Why not just buy the all-black and gold Mk2 that's on talkbass?
yeah Mike would be easier just doing that, but I also want to trim the herd a bit - keeping it down to 3 Wals in all, and the white one is also very light and thus a perfect live instrument for me. 15. BTW, I just spoke with Paul Herman to have my white 2010 Moby Dick MKII refinished in all black very soon - so the funky white will turn into a black rock machine w/ gold hardware - yeah!!
 16.
Yes I did, it's a few months too late as I have already placed an order for a new build... I am very tempted to buy it to tide me over until mine arrives (summer 2017) and sell my MK1 fretless to pay for it, but I'm concerned that the fretless sixer will be much harder to move on when I need to pay for the new build...
Hi Rob et al! I'd advice you not to go for that 1996 sixer since maybe it still has a dead note on its fingerboard. I owned it a couple of years ago and it then came from its original owner in Germany, telling me that Pete Stevens had had a hard time with that one. It first had a fretless board which warped, so it was exchanged for a new one at the German owner's cost (!). The second board then showed a dead spot. I don't know about the exact current condition, but from the piccies it seems as if it's still the same fretless board with the dead note. Maybe Jens as the first owner could shed some light on that one? ta Oliver
 17. Here's my WAL MK II 1995 w/ walnut tops and customized cocobolo fingerboard - a fretless dream:
 18.
Absolutely. I bought it from spiritchaser. It must have been fretted at some point according to the serial number in the Wal database. But it arrived here with a superthin fretboard. Close to no wood left. I had german luthier Günther Eyb of Eyp Guitars replace the fretboard with a 5mm ebony board. That made a lot of a difference in tone in a very positive way. I´m very happy with it as it is. So much that my only fretless GAS is a 70s mapleneck Precision for it´s beatiful and very different tone.
Hey Jensenmann! Great to see the shedua fretless in full bloom - it was in that worn down state when I got it out of an evil bay deal as you will remember. Seems Mr Eyb is a great luthier. Do you still need the midi MKII or would you sell it again? Cheers
