  1. One of these was my very first bass bought new circa 1965 for £33!! It's a steal at the asking price and if it was blue like mine I wouldn't be able to resist it. GLWTS.
  2. This is the fretless from my small Gillett Contour collection. Probably about as rare as the ACG prototype though.
  3. AC's work is just breath-taking! If I'd known about him when we lived up there, we wouldn't have been able to afford our move to Somerset 😊
  4. The s-s 'Ray is a great bass and massive value for money. I bought one and a s-s Sandberg Cali knowing I would only keep one. Almost had to toss a coin to decide in favour of the Sandy.
  5. OK, so we're over half way with 22 out of 39 so far - keep 'em coming!

    Weight

I'm now a fully paid-up member of the light brigade and mine are all in the 3.5-4kg bracket - all s-s btw. The heaviest basses I had and gigged for years were a pair of Gibson Les Paul Triumphs, which were perfectly balanced on the strap. Don't know the actual weight because, as already stated, weight isn't an issue until it becomes a problem.
  7. You're one of the few that I already know both names of - but thanks for setting the ball rolling Keith! Btw, just figured out how to get my numbered outline silhouette - I'm on it ☺️
  8. Yes indeedee folks, to borrow a topical Olympics marathon metaphor, we've just come round the last bend and the home straight is in sight! Definitely time to start thinking about donating raffle prizes, which I'll kick off with: a decent gig bag for standard solid-bodied bass; a 3X Bash T-shirt left over from last time; a copy of Tony Butler's 'My Time' solo CD donated by the man himself after he attended the 2019 Bash ... ... which brings me on to a piece of not-so-good news. I asked after Tony in a recent phone chat with Stephen Chown, who told me that Tony is in poor health and awaiting a much-needed operation. I'd like to suggest that I send Tony our best wishes in the form of a big card with a print of the group shot below and the names of everyone pictured (plus anyone who wasn't pictured but wants a mention). I'm sure I can put forum names to most of the faces but think it would be a bit more personal if you could all let me have your forum name and real name. Actually, someone out there who likes a challenge could probably make it super-easy for me (and more meaningful for Tony) by creating and posting an outline silhouette version of my pic on which everyone is numbered - that way you can all give me your names AND number 🙂 I'm sure this would cheer Tony up a bit.
  9. My first bass was a Watkins Rapier the same light blue as on your amp like the one pictured below!
  10. I cracked - then broke - for a black Sentinel 😊
  11. Those strings are just the best - for me and you at least ☺️
  12. VERY interesting! Same electronics package as the excellent SBMM s-s 'Ray. Had one, moved it on, now maybe regretting it a bit.
  13. Now £395 collected!! IMHO a real bargain for this example that really is good as new apart from the small blemish pictured above. Already packed in its original box for collection right now - my buyer got to the point of paying me and when I sent him the dim's and weight decided it was too heavy (12.5kg net). Not exactly light-weight but these things are bullet-proof and supported in the UK by one of the best companies on the planet.
  14. There's an emerald green Wattplower in stock at Merchant City Music in Glasgow... 🤐
  15. Lucky it wasn't one of those that fell on his head.
  16. My big question is how does it balance on the strap with the top button on the back of the body? As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of 3-p'up basses but ruled this one out due to its neck-dive potential and the fact that it's pretty much impossible to try one out. Sorry, just seen the previous answer to this one - dohhh! Given where the top button is located and the light-weight body, this seems to defy the laws of gravity - nice trick if you can do it! Very nice sounds btw, but I think you do right fitting the La Bella flats, I love 'em.
  17. These are such great basses - I've got the fretted version. GLWTS
  18. Trying to add a pic to my ABM 600 EVO lV FS ad. Doing what I normally do but instead of getting an image I get a link that just takes me to the top of my topic. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
