1. Time for a Mikro-bump - early Xmas present for some bass-player wannabe?
2.
I went into a cold sweat just reading the title of this thread. I have back ups for every part of my gear and could not enjoy a gig knowing I had no spare. Many will disagree but that's just me.
+1 - depends on your approach to risk management (in my case, leave nothing to chance).
3. Lovely short-scale bass in Gibson's very distinctive Pelham Blue metallic finish - hard to explain but the texture (not the colour) of the wood grain shows thru the smooth gloss surface of the clear-coat. SPEC: 30.5" scale length with 20 medium jumbo frets; neck width 41mm at nut; mahogany body; 2 x humbuckers (TB Plus and TB Mini); weight = 3.8kg; strung with OE 45/65/75/95 rounds; sold with complete strap-lock fittings. This is a very nice player in unmarked/flawless condition with correct case in equally good order. Price is collected but I'm happy to arrange delivery at buyer's expense.
4. Hmmm, not an easy colour to photograph - here's another go: "]
5. This little Root Beer Metallic beauty is offered in mint condition complete with the correct Ibanez Mikro gig-bag (also unmarked). I bought it as an instant fix to lighten the load on my injured left shoulder during lengthy practice sessions with a new 'original material' band. Now that the shoulder is a bit better and I've down-sized my gigging basses, the Mikro is no longer needed. I paid £145 plus £20 for the bag but prices appear to have increased since then. These really are a nice piece of kit that's the perfect starter instrument for junior or compact travel bass for more experienced players. Price is collected but happy to ship at buyer's cost.
6. OK, trying again: http://
7. Ooops - something wrong there! This link takes you to my modded SWB-1, then click left Photobucket arrow to see the Ibanez Talman TMB30 'bargain'.
8. And here's another s-s bargain: "]http://[IMG]http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o598/scrumpymike/003_zpsd4rfyoav.jpg Better positioning/balance on the strap than the stock SWB-1 too (I've modded mine)! "]http://[IMG]http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o598/scrumpymike/008%202_zpsa94lyois.jpg
9. Just a few words of encouragement to anyone interested in SWB-1 basses and this one in particular: mine is now my main gigging bass thanks to its great quality, sounds and compact, light-weight design; the weakness of the pound following the Brexit vote means that prices for imports will go up - including bass guitars bought in USD from China. In other words, now could be a good time to buy this one and bag a bargain! In fact, if my Fender Rascal sells, I'll be very tempted to add this active mahogany bass to my passive ash one.
10. Not very original or the pinnacle of absolute excellence but definitely the bassists that influenced me in my formative years, namely: Jamerson Macca Bill Wyman Andy Fraser Jack Bruce And the five that I feel really bad at leaving out are Chas Chandler, Chris Squire, Pino, Phil Lynott and Nick Seymour.
11.
Truth and Beck Ola, real rock and roll! Blue
They certainly are that! I like the way that he's always just got on and done his own thing. In his later years, he seems to have developed the happy knack of surrounding himself with hugely talented female musicians (lucky bugger).
12. Thanks for that Pinball - always rated him highly but hadn't heard anything from Loud Hailer. My vinyl copy of Truth (Jeff Beck Band with Rod Stewart on vocals) still gets a regular play.
13.
Good call on the Pitch Black - best tuner I have had, tiny current draw when not in use, and true bypass (to which it also defaults when the power goes down).
Wasn't sure following multiple recommendations on this forum for Boss and TC, so pleased to get your feedback. Must say that I was impressed with it anyway after unpacking it (looks/feels bomb-proof) and first gig.
14.
It lets you have one less link in your signal chain, and if the tuner output is buffered and always on, will allow you to keep the tuner on permanently whilst you play. Which might be useful for long sustained notes on fretless!
Thanks for that Danny.
15. Me too! Certainly not a make I'd buy based on their current s-s offering.
16. OK, so we're two-thirds of the way there - darn useful these things! "]http:// Just reading stuff on volume pedals and I see some of them have a dedicated socket for a tuner - what's the difference between using that and just having everything daisy-chained in series?
17.
Wish i'd the cash for this...
If you're playing the lottery this week I'll have my fingers crossed for you!
18. Come on guys - I see Scott's sold his!
19. Thanks guys - looks like a TU-3 and Pedaltrain Nano with rechargeable power supply! The Zoom looks brilliant but way too complicated for me.
20. OK, so I've finally succumbed to 'pedal envy' and decided it's time to drag my ass into the 21st century (or even 20th??). Nothing extravagant mind - I've just bought the Bass Soul Food overdrive from Electro Harmonix, to which I plan to add a chromatic tuner and volume pedal. Questions: The Boss TU-3 seems to be a good bet but it looks expensive at only tenner below the Soul Food price - if all I want is a basic tuner, am I paying for stuff I don't need? Then, can anybody recommend a good volume pedal? And finally I'll need a small board/case to suit - maybe with enough room for future expansion. (From zero to a 4 pedals? Surely not!). Cheers guys.
21. That's beautiful and re-awakens the adolescent desires I had for semi-acoustic basses (especially Rivolis) back in the '60s.
