  1. [quote name='bluejay' timestamp='1330089320' post='1552530'] But my photo above looks OK, so the trouble has probably got to do with the individual photo sharing site each of us uses, as well as how this site handles the external link codes. Sigh. [/quote] I think your missing the point. This thread is only about posting an image on here without using any web hosting, other than Bass chat.
  2. [quote name='bluejay' timestamp='1330089139' post='1552522'] Dave, I think these copy and paste urls etc. are a bit dodgy, because on occasion I've done the same as you and only managed to get a link to the photo, and people needed to click on it to see the image, and then had access to my other public images on Flickr's slideshow. Not sure if it's each website's codes that clash, or what. Feel free to delete my image from your collection, of course! [/quote] I cant say ive ever had this trouble, although i know its better now than it was a few years ago on Flickr. In the past you would use the HTML code option, and need to delete a lot of the code, only leaving the relevant image location but these days you just copy the whole BBCode and it works perfectly IME. You can even delete the link and title underneath it. I haven't uploaded your image to Flickr, ill just leave it as a thumbnail on BC. Its there if anyone wants ot see it but not standing out and confusing people.
  3. Im pretty sure the past they would be resized to about 81%, or so they would fit in a certain area. They would have a black bar along the top that you could click and this would thne open the full size image up in a new window, unless this was just from linked images and my mind has become scrambled.
  4. Thanks for the reply. As you can see from our photocomp thats excalty what im already doing. The reason i posted this was because i dont want your image on my gallery (no offence, im sure you know what i mean), i just wanted it post it directly here, and i know in the past this has worked perfectly. Actually, i use the Share BBcode and just paste this in, as this then also puts the title and a link to the flickr image's page as well. Im fact this is a better way of doing it as the rules state we should either post the Exif or have it available, posting the BBcode makes it easier to people to see the Exif if needed (not that any of us cheat of course).
  5. Im sure this has been covered somewhere but i though ti would ask again as i cant find any reference to it. Ive uploaded a few images in various posts but they all show up as thumbnails. In the past they would be resized down a bit but still big enough to view without having to click on them. Here's an example of what im getting now [url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/167216-february-2012-photo-comp/page__view__findpost__p__1552426"]http://basschat.co.uk/topic/167216-february-2012-photo-comp/page__view__findpost__p__1552426[/url] I would normally just link from a image hosting site but sometimes, as in this case, i dont want someone else's image in my gallery. Thanks and sorry for wasting anyone's time if this is the norm.
  6. I remember a couple of years ago OHM had what i would call my almost perfect Sandberg (100% would be Blackburst). It was a custom Cali PM4 with block inlays and it was very, very cheap. The one thing that put me off was it was a relic model. It was only lightly distressed but as it was white i felt it looked horrible. I do now wish i had brought it :-(
  7. The definitely do a good job. Im sure someone posted a video of them building and ageing one of their basses. They dont actually kick them around the workshop apparently.
  8. Good thinking. You could also offer to pass it around a few of the more "punk" members on BC for few weeks each, and let them do it for you. At least the battle scares would have a bit more meaning to them and it would become a classic at no extra cost
  9. [quote name='GregHughes' timestamp='1330077586' post='1552256'] . does seem a bit strange to pay extra to damage a perfectly good guitar. What are others thoughts on this? [/quote] This makes sense to me. Why anyone would want a damaged looking guitar, and pay more for it is beyond me. People who have owned a bass for years can wear the marks and dents etc with pride. Each one could tell a story etc, but to pay for someone else to do this to a brand new bass is beyond me. As you can see, im not one of the "roadworn" or "relic" gang, not that these basses have ever been road worn, and brand new they cant be relics. No offence, just giving my opinion.
  10. I too had great service from Joe. When i had to re wire and change drivers in my brand new UL212 he sent me all the relevant bits of wire, twice, as the first lot had the wrong connectors on the ends of them. Great service from a company that made a high end cab in the dark, without tools by the look of it.
  11. Yeah, I realised it was an admition of guilt as I pressed post. What I meant was I have "heard about" ;-)
  12. Seen better on the X factor first round shows. Terrible performance and they should really be ashamed of themselves.
  13. [quote name='Linus27' timestamp='1330004109' post='1551207'] Yeah thats a very good point Dave. Maybe after my gigs in March you can borrow it to try out. [/quote] Thats kind of you Michael but ive pretty much decided its the 1212L that needs to go rather than my F1
  14. Sorry, what i meant was adjustable low end, as in EQ. The LMI/III are pretty sparse in that respect, although it seems most people dont use the EQ much anyway.
  15. Good news then. I actually went from a ABM to a MB SA450 as i felt the ABM was quieter than the MAG i had come from, and i loved the low low end of the ABM and found the SA450 could get close to that, but the LMII couldnt, due to the fixed freq's.
  16. Thanks. That tort PG was a very cheap ebay one and looked horrible, even before i put it on. The red one is transparent wine i believe. This is the first gen version and i put the BAII on it (so Fender nicked my idea ;-) The coating started to come off very quickly on this bass, probably within a few months. Its only the actual paint part, the wood still has a coating on it. I ended up swapping it with Wayne for his SUB. It was probably the best Jazz bass i've had.
  17. [quote name='charic' timestamp='1329917155' post='1549630'] Fixed my post for clarity [/quote] well i was going to add "unlike Fenders" to my post but this isnt the right place for that.......yet
  18. [quote name='charic' timestamp='1329916629' post='1549610'] So the conclusion is Laklands are great if you don't mind the possibility of the strings or pickups not lining up [/quote] I should add that ive had 5 Laklands, and played around 10 altogether and all were spot on.
  19. [quote name='charic' timestamp='1329915868' post='1549581'] My mistake! I just remembered it was Lakland pickup alignment here! [/quote] And who, i wonder started that thread
  20. [quote name='Linus27' timestamp='1329910990' post='1549435'] Dave, you will love the Reidmar. I think its right up your street. Get your arse to mine any time you like and you are welcome to have a play through it, a cup of tea and maybe a slice of cake [/quote] Cheers Michael but i feel ill need to use it in a live situation to get a feel for it, especially with my cab being quite coloured. Gareth. That is crazy although i guess they have been around for quite a while.
  21. Lets hope so. Funny enough i was thinking of putting my F1 up for a Streamliner trade but came here to see what all the fuss was about (thanks Michael ;-) and now not so sure.
  22. Another vote for a Tech21 pedal in front of the LMIII. In my case i'd say a BDDI as that worked for me but i know the VT Bass offers more in the way of tone changing options. I would say a MB F500 would do punchy attack, very flexible mids control but not the OD/distortion, then again i dont really have experience with much else. The GB Streamliner could do the punch and warm OD but i found the mid control to be pretty basic. Great tone though and there was a thickness to every note that ive not heard from a MB head.
  23. [quote name='Matt_UK' timestamp='1329849256' post='1548530'] Same here, but a 4 banger. Been wanting an all white DJ4 for a while... Wonder if they've fixed the QC issues (string to p'up alignment) that seemed a problem with the older ones? [/quote] I had one delivered from Thomanns and never even opened it. Just sent it straight back as i had already brought a Duck Dunn off them, changed my mind, ordered the DJ and then decided to keep the DD. I really wish i had played it as it would have put me off the DJ5. @Maverick. yes, it took a while to sell but i know its been sold on at least once more. It was made active but i think its now been put back to stock, as a Jazz.
  24. Out of all the amps i've read about over the past few years it seems to me the Streamliner had the most issues. I know of at least 4 that were faulty. I expect this was just teething troubles but i can name any other brand off the top of my head......oh wait, then there was Ashdown ;-)
  25. I believe the Skylines are made in the Cort Factory, same as many other good mid range basses, and then have the hardware and electrics added in Chicago.
