I brought this new from Bass Direct earlier this year. I used it at two rehearsals on my pedal board and then packed it away. Condition is as new and comes with box and all the paperwork etc. It does live up to the hype, but due to the size its an awkward box to fit in with my other pedals on my small board, so i gave up. https://lehle.com/EN/RMI-Basswitch-Sonic-Spark/VIDEO#go Ill upload some photos of the actual pedal later. Not looking for any trades, although I’d be interested in a Tech 21 Bass Flyrig or VTBass deluxe, with cash your way. Looking for £130 and that includes delivery to mainland UK. £125 for a meet up in central london. Sorry, I will not post outside the UK so please don’t ask.

We’ve just started to play Vertigo and i love how the bass is mid scooped, but so powerful. Ive found i can get that with my Paradriver, but ive not tried it with a proper OD yet. Having a mid sweep allows me to go from scooped to ‘punk’ P bass with just a smal turn of the freq and level knobs, which i really like. My Q/strip does it better but of course no driver on it, so i dont use it anymore. Hmmm, might look at the Flyrig again as that seems to offer most of what i need, even though its mains powered.

When i got my B3n it was the first time I’d played through a B7K (or sim) and i feel in love with the patch that has the BDDI and B7k. In fact hearing this was what started me out on OD/heavy drive. Never used OD on bass until this point. At one point I got a B7K Ultra but sent it straight back after just an hour as i just didn’t feel i neede3d to spend so much money and still not get the tone i already had.
-
Love the new hair style, really suits you. How did you find the B7K sim compares to the amps version?

Looking good Bas 😂😂😂

It is. All i did was delete the device in the My Computer window, so there was no going in to sub folders etc. Windows will then automatically re install the correct drivers and it will appear again. That seems to work for me and ive been doing that since getting my first B3.
-
As posted earlier in this thread, ive always had issues with the zoom USB drivers. What works for me is to delete the drivers and device and let Windows re install them. This seems to refresh them.,
-
In that case go to the link posted above and update to V2.0, then you can get the updated effects via Guitarlab. There is also an updated list of effects on the zoom website.
-
Make sure you have the latest FW, Should be V2.0 EDIT: Opps, too slow lol.
-
Nah, maybe i just need to power it up and look lol. I was going by the PDF FX list, which is obviously out of date.
-
Sorry, my mistake, Glam comp is in the B3n as well.
-
I’m sure its possible to get the same final effect as the Glam comp, but this is an actual effect in the Four rather than a combined patch, and seems to be the only Comp with a dry mix control. It doesn't exist in the B3n.
-
And as Ive not used my B3n for months I’m probably not familiar with how they sound in comparison to the B1-on.
-
Thanks, food for thought and i will give all these suggestions a go tomorrow. Its been ages since i used my B3n, and maybe it is the same, but i know i prefer the openness of the B1-on at the moment.
-
Thanks, Ill give that a go tomorrow. I also found lowering the level of the cab sim helped, although i had it very low. I cant go back to the B1 tonight, but I’m sure there are no cab sims on the B1-on, they are built in to the amp sims and not adjustable, this could be the difference. I wonder if the Four has a built in Ashdown mode lol 😬😬

Ive been having another play with mine tonight, and found a possible issue that might sway me back to the B1-on for home use. Since getting the B1-Four ive thought my bass sounded a bit muffled. I put it down to old strings, different presets and i just need to get used to them. Didn’t worry about it, but each time i used the B1-Four it just sounded a bit like my strings were really old. I couldn’t hear the notes clearly when playing along with my ipad. Anyway, i put new stings on tonight and they still sounded muffled, no brightness and zing. I got my B1-on out and it was much, much more open sounding. I didnt do a 100% direct comparison, just went through some of the presets on both. I went in to the SVT patch on the Four and turned off the cab sim, and back came the top end and sparkle. Tried it with a few of the other rig patches with the same result. I’m sure my unit isnt faulty, but I’m going to investigate more over the weekend. I ended up using the B1-on for most of the evening.

I'm still getting to grips with my new Paradriver and MXR filter, plus the Tone prints in my BH800 to worry about replacing them just yet 🙂

Yeah, i guess the Gramma pad will be the best option, but im still interested in hearing what both HPF's can do. Maybe at some point ill have time to try both. I like the idea of the B1 having an adjustable HPF over the fix freq on the Thumpinator.
-
I used to use the Gramma pad a lot, as we were doing a lot of Social clubs, most having wooden stages. I got lazy over the past few years though and its now gathering dust at work as a work shelf. Ill dust it down for the next rehearsal. Im sure it will make a difference to what i feel on my feet if nothing else.
-
And of course having it in the amp isnt always the best place for. Having a cleaner signal flowing through an effects chain before the amp can work wonders as well. In fact i think most of us use them like that anyway. Come to think of it my Paradriver has a HPF built in, but im assuming thats really only working if i have the blend on 100%, which is a bit too full on for my liking.
-
Cheers. i had seen that video before when i was looking at getting the micro Thumpinator.
-
Yes, im not looking to cut anything audible with a HPF, just to back off the amount of sub low end and so allow me to turn up more without too much stress on the cab. The only reason i posted in this thread is im interested in the difference between the HPF and Thumpinator, as you have both and i thought you had used both in a band situation.. I wasnt really looking to discuss a solution to a widely known issue with hollow stages here, even though the two were mentioned in the same post. It does seem like the HPF in the B1 is more useful though but the Gramma pad is the way to go. Helpful relies none the less though.

A powered PA cab could mean no amp to worry about. Just a preamp of some kind and a couple of leads and you're good to go.
-
Cheers guys. its not that it’s boomy, it’s more over powering because I’m feeling it through the floor more. Having listened back to the recording taken from further down the room the tone isnt too bad, not boomy as such, but lacking upper mids, so i know the actual tone coming out the cab isnt too far off once away from the playing area, but yes, I’m in a corner on a wooden stage so it seems the Gramma pad is the way to go. I had the low end turned down on the amp, which is a 50hz cut and it did make a difference. I really dont want to get in to using another effect pedal, I’m trying to cut down, but if the B1 can cover all that I’m using already, and add HPF then ill give it a go at some point. Maybe ill get my Q/strip out, i know that will fix things, but then thats adding another pedal to the chain. My thinking about using the B1’s HPF was just to allow me to turn my rig up a bit higher once ive lowered the low end without putting too much stress on the cab. The question about B1 vs Thumpinator was more to find out if the HPF works as it should, as it seems more versatile with its adjustable parameters. I dont rehearse much and always use headphones at home. No way i could hear any difference on or off like this so unfortunately i dont have the luxury of testing them out until i do get to rehearsals, and thats pretty much full on playing I expect all that sounds confused, but i know what i mean lol.
-
The thing is I’m there to rehearse, not play with pedals. Its hard enough getting through all the songs, I wouldn’t have time to do comparisons etc. I’m also trying to get away from using mains powered effects, so i don’t actually want to use my Thumpinator, even if it did do the job. Its on my pedal board that ill use for gigs, but i don’t take to rehearsals. Ill see how i get on with the Gramma pad first, as thats the easiest option and designed for this sort of thing anyway. Its not that the low end is overly boomy, just that it can be felt so much through the wooden floor that it overpowers the mids and highs somewhat. If it doesn't work ill try the B1 next. Its only for rehearsals anyway. Cheers anyway.
