  1. That remaineds me of a EBMM bass.
  2. Ive had a Gen 1 since they come out. Lovely bass. other than weight i cant fault it. I got a Gen 2 P7 last year and thought it was noticeably better. The neck was a bit improvement IMO. Very comfortable. Unfortunately it had a faulty bridge pup so it went back. Wouldn't hesitate to get another if i didnt have other options.
  3. I work in Hatton Garden, EC1. Don’t have a long lunch break but I could meet by Farringdon/Chancery lane station areas. I finish work around 5.15 - 5.30 most days.
  4. God knows, but when i find it ill take it home. 😀
  5. A real man can be any colour, as can a real woman (or anything made up in between), but the colour of his/her/it's bass will certainly reflect the soul...😀
  6. Real men only need a 4 string P bass.....
  7. You're one string short of being allowed to do that 😉
  8. Same here. Although she does come up with a few un popular choices sometimes. As she is my partner i cant be too negative though.
  9. After all the above, ive decided im sending the GK back and sticking with my Fender Rumble. Its not that i don't like the GK, i really do, but the Fender costs half the price, has less of a growl to it (so works a bit better for older stuff), has the Vintage button which really works well, and overall it just seems to suit the band a bit better. Its also not much different to my MB heads, especially in the mix. If i had more gigs id keep it, but it seems silly having that much money tied up in a head im not using week in week out, and it wont get used for rehearsals as i use my MB200.
  10. Ive just pulled my guitarist up about a few of the songs, and he suggested we have a rehearsal or two to sort out the songs that aren't working. Now seeing as we reherase almost every week, what are we supposed to be doing at those. I hate it when other band members dont bother doing enough (or any) private practice and get things sorted before coming along. I spend a lot of time at home doing just that.
  11. I recorded the gig, and his first comment was. 'sounds like a very amateur guitarist playing all over it' So at least he acknowledges it, its just the 'superior' manner he tends to use that winds me up. 'Oh, we dont need to go over those songs, we know them...etc etc'. Well no, actually, i do but you obviously dont.
  12. Cant believe i started this thread so long ago, but only today got around to ordering one. Ill probably end up selling it sooner rather than later, but out of all the comps I’ve had (and still have), this one seems to tick all the right boxes.
  13. Yeah, same here. We target our songs list so its not specific to any genre that we don’t like. We cant all like everything we play, but we don’t play anywhere that would require us to play something we aren’t in to. And for the record, i love playing Mustang Sally and Brown Eyed girl, mainly because they are floor fillers and i liked them long before i had to play them anyway.
  14. Why can’t the two be combined?
  15. Played a club it Tooting tonight. Not the best of crowds but it had its moments. Only 30 mins each way for me. Guitarist moaned i was too loud in places and it must be my pedal, i pointed out a few times i was going directly in to my amp. Master level was set at sound check and not touched. He on the other had was all over the place volume wise. Always fiddling with his pedal board. He reuses to bring it to rehearsals so he is never prepared. I pointed out that when i sounded loud it was because no one else was playing. When i was quite it was because he was too bloody loud. On stage recording shows this. I also had to listen to him and the drummer moaning about how long the journey was from north london. Bloody cheek as most od our gigs have been in north london, and we rehearse in north London, meaning a 2 hour round trip for me and the singer. Getting fed up with bands, and more specifically guitarists who dont have a clue and its all about them. Rant over, as you were 🤐
  16. Yep, although I’ve not needed to use them live. I have a Fender 1x15 and various Ampeg IR’s in mine. I mainly use them when I use my FX with headphones.
  17. Yep. They work just as well as in the Somp etc. Seems like the next update will make it a bit easier as well.
  18. Thats what we have planned for us tonight at a social club. That, the bingo, and a game of Match the Balls 😳
  19. Years ago, when i was in an originals band we had a bass player that was also in a covers band. He was very good but we looked down on him. Couldn’t understand why he had sold out any such a young age (30 IIR). We were young and back then lol. Now I love playing covers. None of the songs ive ever written are anywhere near as enjoyable as playing the songs i play now. I get to learn many different styles (and end up dumbing them down to my level lol). I get paid to make people dance, and at the end of the night we get thanked for giving them a good time. In a way, for me its like hearting my fav bands/tracks being played by a live band, and I’m up there with that band.
  20. I don’t think it’s a case of playing the original per say, its more playing the most popular version. Sometimes ‘original’ means by the artists that wrote and recorded it first, but its not always the original version that we all know. My example here would be Alright now. The original is very different to the version most of us and the general public know. Still by the original artist, but not the original version.
  21. I really fancy one of these (although not planning on getting one just yet). Having owned a Legacy i think the Fender would be more to your liking. https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-amps/bass-amp-combos/fender-rumble-stage-800-modelling-2x10-bass-combo
  22. Now withdrawing for now. Having a bit of a re think. Can i get this locked please?
  23. Thanks. That’s the first place I looked.
  24. No, i was replying to the post that quoted my post about drummer turning up and saying he hadn't had time. probably worth reading my post to get this in context.
  25. Yep, i have one of those. Very good player, but up his donkey a bit when it comes to knowing the songs. Always sounds like he busk's them. Doesn't listen for stops etc (drummer plays right through most stops in our song list). Caught him out at the last one. We do Ever fallen in love, the Stiff Dylans version. He keeps mucking it up. Say's he is so used to playing the original. I replied 'but you have been playing this version for 13 months, and dont play much with anyone one else'. Total BS for not putting the time in. He also insists i play the one of the Beatles songs in a cretin (wrong way), to suit his solo. I do like going through YT and seeing how others adapt songs, and take inspiration from those versions, so im not precious at all about how we play them, but when its chaotic its like 'why bother being in a band'.
