1. i'm not disputing, merely want to see what to look out for...what is it about this bass (apart from the tw@-esque answers) that give it away as a non-genuine mid-90's fender?
 2. Maxwell Murder bass solo = AWESOME!!! other than that, IMHO, I like seeing fingerstyle playing.
 3. lessons is a good idea! It's definately an investment, and will be with you for life! Failing that, my only bit of food for thought is that you can get far more for you money in the second hand market then new, and you also won't loose as much if you find that the new purchase doesn't work out
 4.
formely cgordonfreeman's. thread I got this in trade but since I'm going all 6-string... There's a really slick jazz tone in this bass, and in humbucking mode does P-tones well enough, I think. Should be great for someone who needs traditional tones with extra oomph available (not mandatory by any means!) from the Aguilar pre-amp, which is known for it's transparency. Fit and finish are incredible. Let me say that again. Godlessness. /alanmoore Anyways, this thing can do many conventional tones, is VERY easy to play and is light and balances well and and and - oh it's made in USA. I personally think it combines many of the best features of a jazz with those of P or StingRay. For my personal use I'd add a mid with sweep for the ultimate in Leo-land coverage. Comes with a hard case. It's in the same condition as in cgordonfreeman's thread, BUT it now also has a small ding on top of the headstock, shown in pic. It's also listed for sale at TB, and I'm asking EUR1200 or nearest offer... Would also trade for a Stingray +some cash.
ooooooh, pretty also, I like the sig
 5. ...if I can persuade Mrs PTB to not totally clean my bank account this weekend (our anniversary) then I might have a pop at this
 6. Holy smoking beefburgers I can't believe it's taken me this long! I've been living off years-old mp3s, yo**ube rips and itunes downloads with their pitifully small bit rate, and literally never knew what I was missing! even the Itunes Plus stuff is aural abuse in reality! I just downloaded my first album from Spotify (Full Scale: EPIC aussie metal...imagine all the best bits from 90's/early 00's nu-rap-rock-funk metal (cos there were some!) and boil it down with some Silverchair, Incubus, Killswitch Engage...AWESOME! Thanks Gamble! ) and even thru my cruddy headphones you can TELL the difference! I Highly recommend Spotify, same price as Itunes, but MUCH higher quality, and far greater selection!
 7.
Hi there! my name is Viaceslav. I am from Cologne (Germany). I play bass. This is my first day at this forum. And here is my first video as a introducing myself. I hope, you enjoy it. Slap on Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor
Guten Abend buddy! Welcome to BassChat! Nice playing there, very Les Claypool! how were you recording your Sandberg? it sounded great
 8.
You won't have heard of any of my bands, we're all pretty small, I've just played enough gigs to spot if a promotor is gonna try and rip us off or not, playing your own stuff though, all you're really asking for is enough money to pay for your travel to the gig and your ale for the night, it's not in anyway a manner to make money, even when selling vinyl/cds/tapes and tshirts or whatever your wares are.
ahh, i was half expecting you to coyly mention you're Chris Wolstenholme I completely understand about the rip-off promoters, I think there's more of them in London than sewer rats! I long ago got the musical integrity beaten outta me by travelling 3hrs+ each way for a 5pm soundcheck (which is always an hour late cos of the soundguy/headliner) to go onstage at 10pm (see previous parentheses) for a 40min set and then get £20 for petrol to split between the van and car, and be expected to be grateful for it! good on ya for keeping it up, what bands are you in btw, would like a listen to something new/different!
 9.
I remember my younger days when that was true. sh*t days.
g'wan then, tell us what band you're in...
 10.
He threw the wads of cash on the floor as he quffed, snorted and laughed so hard his top hat went slanted and his monacle fell from his eye whilst shouting "pick up my pocket change you pauper!". His friends from the hunting and polo club all pointed at me and joined in the abuse. "a man with out the finest silks, glutenist feasts and a hagard wench on his arm is not a man in my eyes" they taunted. "a land owner he is not, thereofre i shall take as a please and return nothing" another added. A dark December day that'll hang heavey in my heart for ever more. However the peasant revolt is nigh...... so i suppose yes is what i am getting at.
there are certain posts that make my day, and will remain timeless classics, one for the quote board methinks!
 11.
Is almost everyone on this forum in covers bands? Cause the world of touring underground/experimental musics is a world away from any of these stories.
i think most of these stories will come from covers situations cos if you're a new originals band, you ain't gonna get paid, and if you're a successful original band, your punters want you there!
 12. my first (and only) gig with a band was a pay-off. We were (accordiing to our singer) booked at this place cos 'they love heavy mod stuff' (we had 2hrs of The Jam as a set) but as we arrive, they're playing Spandau Ballet and Wham to a packed pub. Within 3 songs, we'd cleared the venue of everyone except one barmaid...and at the end of set 1 of 2, which was after 25mins as opposed to the full hour, we agreed with the venue to f*** off and never come back. We got the full measly amount tho, probably cos it was significantly cheaper than loosing a whole nights custom
 13. Ok, I've decided that I ain't gonna be gigging for the next while, so I'm selling my stack Hartke HA5500 head and VX410a (the one with the angled top): pics to follow tomorrow. The cab is in pretty good nick, slightly dinged on the corner protectors but still sits flat and level and will stack securely on a cab with the appropriate corner protectors on top! The covering is in fine, if slightly bedded in condition...no tears from memory but will check when I get it outta the car tomorrow for the photos! Head is Roadworn. Nothing other than superficial scuffs and scratches on the 2u(i think) box it came in, the head itself is pretty spanking! There is one tear in the cover, but nothing that doesn't just look rock&f£ck'nroll! The DI out doesn't work (no signal) but I'd imagine it's an easy job for someone with knowhow...I was quoted £40 for repair but decided to just buy a handbuilt DHA DI-out box for £30! IMHO it's the sensible thing to do Priced to go, whole lot £250 collected, or nearest offer. Take it off my hands, the sooner the better ...btw, for an idea of the output of this rig, goto 51secs and you can hear the amp&cab, not thru the PA, and on about 5, clearly heard over the talking on this clip, with me playing my sandberg cali5. It's got enough balls for fair sized outside gigs, and if you have an extension cab, it'll blow your house down!

 16. now, anyone who knows me, knows that P's ain't my tankard of chardonnay, but JeZuS that's BEAUTIFUL! The burst, the dark dark DARK board, the neckware, the body mojo, GAH! it's like deciding what you like best about a kingsized bed with Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly, Olivia Wilde and Scarlet Johanson, all wearing nothing but lashings of whipped cream and a 'come hither' look! mmmmm....[s]whipped cream[/s] mojo'd P *drool*
 17.
Yes I would like to buy this bass. I'll see what the bank-man says
if he jerks you around, as him why the collective noun for Bankers is a "Wunch" ...then, if it's Northern Rock or Bank O' Scotland, just ask for some of your (the taxpayer) money back! That should do the trick!
 18. i freakin' love the magnums! Always wanted one of these, shame i don't have ANY money available! Good luck with the sale
 19.
You have way too many beautifull basses. SHAME ON YOU, SHAAAAAAAAAAAMMEE ON YOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU
lol! I would say sorry, but i think Thank You is far more appropriate
That's too bad. All I have to offer is a Ducati 600SL Pantah which is taking up space in the garage.
thats *PRETTY* pm'd
