It got to a stage where I was taking a £100 returnable cash deposit before the gig, and once I'd fully made sure the head was still working they'd get the money back. ANY repairs more than £100 would be paid for in a ratio of 1 finger per £10 costs, starting with the left hand. No feckin' prisoners, no feckin problems.
 2.
Seems like you can play all you need to on bass and what you want is a musical diversion. How about learning piano?
cos I've not got a piano, or room for one I've thought that, but I've put so much goddamn effort, time, blood, sweat and tears into bass I just wanna keep going till I can make some money out of it possibly.
 3.
Rancid stuff is always fun to play. I'd start here.
ooooh, i thought I'd got some Rancid, but I've not got that track.... I've got Maxwell Murder!!! Is it possible to play at normal speed with fingers instead of a pic? lets find out
 4.
Try learning Big Swifty by Zappa (from Make a Jazz Noise Here). It's long, horrendously difficult, and it will keep you occupied for a VERY long time. It's also a monster piece of music which will bring many smiles to your face.
I'll also learn Approximate...i hear the notes are pretty easy, it's just the timing you gotta concentrate on
 5.
primus?
lol! that may well be an option, I'd forgotten about ol' Les...should've thunk about him with the sonic-barrage slapfest that's been reverberating around my room of recent weeks ...any other less percussive options?
 6.
how about something that is beyond your current reach? Something that technically you can't play at the mo, to give you a challenge
liiiiike...? That's the trouble, I can play all the hard stuff in my collection...I'm now down to trying to playing bach cello suite in G major entirely in slap...which sounds godawful and has no place in this world!! Whatcha got in your collection that has some killer basslines? tell me tell me tell me?!
 7. I'm really struggling to get any enjoyment or satisfaction out of playing bass since a recent band i ploughed money and hundreds of hours into turned out to be a haven of pathological liars, deceit and bs. Compound that with the loss of a close relative, moving out of my beautiful home back to my parents, that two-faced bitch leaving me, and my boss trying to make me quite by turning my job into 8hrs of daily purgatory has left me with a problem. I've run through all the James Jamerson, Muse, Rush, LedZep, AC/DC, Jackson5, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Who and Jamiroquai tracks that I know and used to love, but all that happens is I get to the end of the song and go "o well, i can still play that'un." Can any of you suggest any songs/bands to help me get some enjoyment back into my playing? I've got a beautiful bass, but no desire to use it.
 8.

my personal favorite, pure silliness!
 9. god, that's awful My condolences to the friends and family affected by all this.
 10.
sometimes i play the same song as the rest of my band
I WISH my old guitard could've done that'un! it would've made the gigs much better!
 11. there are some threads that just read like decent pub banter, bloody brilliant read
 12. Hehehe! No worries OG, it's all good! Thanks for the support lads, it means a lot and thanks for the bumps

 14. +1! So don't you gits take advantage of my delicate nature and try to haggle me down too much! lol! full price gets a set of strings too Thanks Kermit, hopefully I won't be broken, depressed, drunkard wreck for too much longer!
 15. Thankyou buddy, it's just a right kick in the bellhops At least she knocked it on the head before the relationship started to go downhill...means I've got 3-and-a-bit years of crackin memories to take away from this Probably means I'm gonna miss her more tho...
 16.
At least she's letting you have it back - and all of it .... Sorry to hear that mate. Write some nice happy songs about freedom, doing the stuff you want to do, having dinner in a fancy restaurant, seeing whomever you choose etc . Oh, hang on
cheers OG, why don'tcha just twist that knife a liiiiitle bit more
 17. Wayne, you've got a very eloquent and concise way of putting things! Admittedly, they money will go towards all the things she banned me from doing, so it'll be put towards Phils Motorbike/Whisky/Hookers/Weed fund, so then I'll not have to have it sat in the corner reminding me of her, AAAAND someone else will get the pleasure and use that this bass deserves!
 18. So, after moving out and keeping me hanging on the thread of hope that is a Long Distance Relationship, on wednesday she decided to dump me over the phone, whilst on the train to Paris to go partying for the weekend with her Business Exec friend. So, I'm selling the bass I built up for her to learn on which, as with all of these situations, she never really bothered to do. I've not got any photos, as I'm getting the bass back next weds when she gives me back all my stuff, but I'll post 'em as soon as. The Bass: It's a Vintage (brand, not age) 5string, natural bubinga body, rosewood neck, PJ pups (from memory). The Tuners, knobs, bridge and strap buttons have been replaced with pimpin' gold hardware, and it looks the mutts nuts. I've angled the tuners to about 45deg (so they're sloped back in a Warwick stylee) and it's set up to be a good beginners bass with med action, easy neck, small body and good balance. It's very similar to a vintage v940, but a 5string. It's in good condition, with a few bumps but nothing untoward. £100ono collected?
 19.
Thanks mate I don't want to go too OT or into much detail but in short it was a painful breakup of a 3 1/2 year relationship. That's enough said about that.
very much been there mate, my sympathies! have a man-hug Anyway, back to the startling resemblance to Ped after a hard night out and the musical fellow in the aforementioned website! All he needs is a Vigier and Ped's avatar has himself a stunt double
 20.
In the nicest possible way - we are providing this forum for free and it's probably the best place there is for selling it to someone honest that will not cause you problems, I think it's a bit grumpy to complain when a simple rule is introduced for the general benefit of the community. It's a topic that's been mentioned for months and months, has been reviewed and general consensus taken into account.
+1 to that!! I think it'll improve things. It seems to me that the seller will have a price in mind to tell to the PMers, or it would be phrased "PM with offers"...in essence causing a silent auction. As is mentioned, there are a gerzillion other places to sell, each with THEIR own rules which are updated over time, this is just an addendum to the BC Rules Of Engagement...all's fair in Love and Bass after all!
 21.
This has definitely lightened up one of the shittest days I've had in about 4 years.
that doesn't sound good...best wishes for the rest of the year buddy!
 22. I'm glad you guys are liking it as much as i am! it's given me hours of fun doesn't take too much time to figure out how to drop in/out the beats and samples to get a pretty groovy track goin
 23. http://www.incredibox.fr/ Fun little site, with striking resemblance to one of our own!
 24. whats the preamp on this'un buddy?
 25. Lylodile, give us a review buddy, and put this whole thing to rest You do have a way with words Mr S.D.!
Crafted in a Chinese hellhole by weeping orphans chained to benches and overlooked by a giant image of a glaring Mr Balzary, which bears the exhoratative slogan: "Work well lest I cast you into my dungeon, whenceforth none do come."

A long and intimate experience of Rock Stars' brides and partners suggests to me that she will be a maiden of pulchritudinous aspect and bountiful charms. She will not be a "munter". By strange coincidence, this thread occurs not long after an event that took place during my recent diplomatic trip to Seattle. I was attending a reception at the home of my good friend Mr Bill Gates where, on observing my entrance, a certain lady was heard to remark: " I do declare! Who is that long, handsome cove? A sporting Gentleman with a prodigious manhood, I'll be bound!" Being informed of this, I promptly introduced myself and led her to the buffet, where, clearing a space amid the crab claws, we gave ourselves to pleasurable abandon. Matters being satisfactorily completed, I recognised the crestfallen fellow watching us from the doorway as being Mr Flea's bandmate John Frusciante. "Why Mr Frusciante," I cried. "I expect you will soon be departing, for I have indeed most thoroughly packed your baggage!" How we both laughed as he scampered from the room, tail between his legs. Should Mrs Flea and I ever chance to meet, the sensible money would be on a similar outcome.
