  1. that one was actually a replacement that came from Rickenbacker, as these are so hard to get over here the first one had a paint finnish issue and a problematic E string, so i was sent this wonderful bass instead . the rrp for this bass is a staggering £3,350 link here http://www.ricsrus.com/4000-Series.html the build is second to none fantastic woodwork and i love the schaller bridge not sure about those machine heads at the moment give them time and see. pickups are amazing really quiet and loud and huge bass response , through my system it just sounds amazing it's actually frightening lol the bass is actually very different from anything else on the market precision thickness with ric twang . if you can find one go for it. cheers

  3. was it yourself that re painted the bass by hand mate?? how does this bass play/sound ??? cheers
  4. Hi 4000, to be honest they almost feel the same, as its the same neck now, lighter than a 4003, tone wise more bottom end than a 4003, but the 4003 has a much more bite to it, this is like a precision with a ric twang to it , and if you think about it not a bad combination. it has a higher output than a 4003, overall it has a smother bassier sound, but still a ric sound. George
  5. This 4003 is a cracker mart, i know the video is not high quality but you can still here the tone of the bass coming through.
  6. Just had my replacement 4004cII Delivered today made 6 weeks ago!!! stunning build quality Maple/Walnut/Maple body, bubbinga fretboard, Gold plated hardware.
  7. hard to beat if you get a good one, which i have, and will be keeping. Jetglo is the classic 4003 finish. good luck, funny feeling you might actually like it !!!!
  8. iain, i am almost 52 now and i have regretted a few sales recently, dont worry about having two stunning rics!!! they will appreciate in value and you got both at great prices , so worry not, i go through those thoughts all the time, i dont gig at all now, i am just recording at home when my fingers let me play. you have a great sounding 4003 hang on to it hard to find!! also your 4004 is hard to come by and offers a different tone from the 4003. enjoy the basses and relax.

  14. Hi mart , i may consider that mod as it would give greater tone control from the bass , i will see how i go i found i had to turn the bass down on the amp lol for the first time, i gave the truss rod another tweak last night and that just made the E string stand out a bit more , the truss rods are fine as long as you use the correct tool you can't over tighten them worth the investment. i think the neck is amazing on this bass i have the action so low and no fret buzz really cool. cheers Geo
  15. the main difference is volume and big fat tone, the 4003 sounds quite bright normally , this bass is all about the bass!!!! there is still a ric twang from it , very very fat sounding bass, i was quite shocked at how powerful it is , because when you look at it you think it would be quite dainty sounding, mistake, this is the fattest sounding bass i have played. lovely fast neck too and it was a breeze to set up.
  16. I would like to introduce my Rickenbacker 4004 cII 2012 in Jetglo, amazing big sounding bass, i was surprised how deep this bass went!!! huge sounding. plays like a dream too the easiest bass i have ever set up.

  23. too expensive this time around, been to every show in Glasgow/Edinburgh , even worked at a few, and met the guys, but the price is out of bounds for a lot of people i think. by the time you add up all the costs we would need a hotel by the time the show ends, food and drinks not much change out of £300
  24. I have one of these , mine has the custom shop vintage pickups and sits really well in recordings. great tone.
