3. different circuit (has 3 band EQ, plus passive tone) to the one posted above, but thanks. Looks like bass exploratory surgery it is!
 4. I am sure the extra pickup routs are very clean, and precise, not done with a chisel by an angry hamster.
 5. Hi guys I'm a recent and v happy owner of a 2012 Fender USA Precision Deluxe (P/J, active / passive tone controls). I'm loving it, but I noticed that when it is in "passive" mode, changing any of the 3 EQ controls seems to have an effect on the tone. I haven't opened up the bass, but I found this a bit strange. It's not drastic, but I can hear the difference when turning the EQ knobs... is this normal? is the active EQ, even nominally bypassed, still loading the pickups / circuit somehow? or is this likely a "defect" -either due to Fender's circuit design, or maybe how prior owner wired in the new passive Dimarzio pickups? Would appreciate any experiences with other active / passive circuits... many thanks Roman

 12. As part of the forthcoming gear clear-out, I found a set of Thomastik Infeld flats that I will not have a use for. Please note the following:

I got the strings as a together with a bass that I bought (as spares for the other TI set), so I can’t give an accurate number of hours they were played prior to me owning – however when I string them up yesterday, the strings seemed to have a decent bit of metallic “zing” left…. So they are not dead! I have played them for maximum of 15 minutes yesterday.

G string silk seems to be a tad darker than others if you look closely. Don’t know why. It's possible these strings came from different TI sets originally.

G string measures around 110cm from tip to ball end (~43.3 inches). All other strings are actually longer. The G MAY fit a 4-in-line headstock, but please check carefully. I am sure this set would fit 2+2 or 3+1 headstocks, though.

Although this did not come with the strings as I got them, I have a full TI string packaging set (at some it was used to store other strings), which I have included and will post the strings in.
So I propose £18 posted … hopefully that’s fair given the above? Paypal gift or bank transfer preferred. Cheers Roman
 13. New year bump - anyone decided to learn some keyboard playing in 2017?
 14. thanks guys. lots of really good points - and the observation regarding just plugging into a proper bass cab is totally worth trying (why didn't I think of that?!?) . As per advice, I will probably re-direct focus onto a better 10" "guitar" speaker then, to likely more success... cheers and happy new year all! Roman
 15. hi guys I am contemplating modifying my old Laney LC15 watt tube combo with a new speaker. I don't fully understand amps / speakers so would appreciate some input from those who do! Sorry if I'm being a n00b As the combo actually sounded very nice with fretless bass at low volumes, which got me thinking of its "studio" recording potential... so here goes.... would it be possible to replace existing "guitar" speaker with a higher rated, more "bass-appropriate" one? i.e. The existing 10" speaker (HH Invader) is 8ohms (and probably rated somewhere up to 60 watts..... but I can't find exact specs) potentially replaced with Eminence Delta10a, or similar, also at 8ohm but rated at 350 watts Would this work and sound OK? the 15w was actually very loud, when pushed, into the old speaker - would I get the same level of volume with the replacement speaker? Would appreciate any pointers or suggestions for simple reading on the subject.... cheers Roman
 16. For some reason (i guess the awesome body shape and associated excesses!), this build made me think of the 80's Washburn EC29 and EC36 neck-carve: http://images.postad...-japan-1988.JPG not sure you'd want to attempt, but just to throw it out there as an idea
 17. bump - willing to do £20 collected on this, need this gone....
