Hi guys Not sure if this is the right forum to post, but I just wanted to offer my free services as an aspiring sound engineer / producer to the good people of Basschat. I am looking for experience working with bands / artists across a variety of genres, and I would like to build up a portfolio of “real-world” jobs. I am happy to take on a variety of jobs, such as: [*] Recording demo / EP (on location / “guerrilla” tracking, or full studio recording - if can find a suitable space for drums) – ideally not too far from Greater London [*] Mixing, and reamping;– can be done remotely [*] Mastering – can be done remotely As long as it doesn’t cost me anything in expenses, I am happy to offer my time for free whilst I'm starting out. If I’m required to travel, some sort of petrol contribution would be appreciated. The only thing that I ask for is that I can use the recordings for my portfolio, and that you would give me a reference / testimonial once the project is completed. If it’s a medium+ project that you have in mind (e.g. requiring more than 25 hours of my time), I’d be happy to discuss it, but perhaps it would be best to start small, and then go from there. Happy to discuss my experience and gear – just drop me a note. I’m hoping there will be mutually beneficial opportunities from this. Happy to work in all genres – I have played and recorded death metal, classical / opera, acoustic rock over years… I’m also interested to hear from any studio/live engineers in London who may be willing to offer me some work experience. I may bump this very occasionally – but please feel free to contact me or share my details. Cheers Roman

Genz Benz 212 Neo-X cab (Mark 1). According to threads on the "other" bass site, there is very little difference to the drivers / overall sound, however, when comparing to later Mk2. The cab is in great working condition, tweeter is fine. Had replaced the fuse in the cross-over circuit in the past. Sounds great, like all Genz-Benz gear! Easily enough volume handling for gig/rehearsal. A bit of wear on the outside covering... due to previous owner's cat. Price takes this into account.

Lined fretless - gaps around fret lines?
roman_sub replied to roman_sub's topic in Repairs and Technical
thanks. Apparently this was a factory fretless from Sandberg...! -
Hi, I've not tried running Barts in parallel, but some general thoughts: - Barts I've played have been comparatively low-output (needing the preamp for gain), and running them in parallel would decrease output vs series, though not sure how noticeable this would be, post-preamp - to my ears, parallel wiring of humbuckers seems to reduce the amount of bass - you may get a slightly more quacky / glassy sound, vs series - impact of switching series to parallel may bear some resemblance to the tonal change when using StringRay 5 switching... - If you go down the route of wiring in a push/pull switch, I'd tempted to use a single switch to simultaneously affect both pickups (less complexity, unless you really want to be able to blend parallel neck vs series bridge...) Out of ideas otherwise! Roman

Hi guys If you saw a fretboard like the one in attachment - would you be concerned? It's supposed to be ebony fretboard with maple lines. It looks like some of the ebony shrank / chipped away around a few of the maple lines? Is that common with lined fingerboards, any idea what caused it? How serious is it? Assuming it's a defect, presumably a fix would involve some sort of ebony dust + glue? thanks in advance for your views! cheers Roman

I would agree to focus on precisely mentally visualising what you need to play. I find it helpful to analyse the backing track / other instruments to identify exactly which notes everyone else is playing at the time that my part is supposed to be, and using these as a guide-rope, until I've internalised the feel.
