  1. Congrats! Lovely looking Jazz. Your 'one of each' photo is great too! Can't have too many Jazzes
  2. Lovely looking bass. I was hanging my nose over the LPB one that was for sale on here for ages. Congrats
  3. I know what you mean. I have encountered a lot of players who play 18 billion notes, hoping that one might fit.
  4. Ah, thanks - I thought that was what it might be. I gave up watching broadcast TV in 2012, so popular culture generally passes me by!
  5. There you go All sorted. I periodically do the same. I have to make sure that the basses I have are all either earning money, or actually appreciating in value, otherwise they need to go out the door to be exchanged for pictures of the Queen. This plan usually works, although I recently got a '95 Stingray and having had some work done on it, it's rapidly become a firm favorite. My beautiful Am.Perf.Mustang is up for sale at the moment, too. It only did half a live tribute show, so it's a case of "Door"!
  6. I just listened to that track on headphones. The bass sound is actually very good and defined. The problem, as you say, is that it does get buried to an extent by that awful distorted rhythm guitar. This is why I like playing in trios. More space to play with.
  7. Yes, the TRBX basses are usually consistent. Much better than a Harley Benton, anyway.
  8. Sorry, I was reading this while listening to this week's Smith & Sniff Podcast - Is 'theatre work' a bit like 'track work', or 'motorway work'?
  9. Very nice. Always liked these. Congrats!
  10. *THIS BASS IS NOW SOLD* Thanks for your interest! This lovely condition 2023 Aubergine Fender American Performer Mustang is up for sale/trade. It's been with me for a few months and is set up beautifully with 40-95 Elixirs (Fender use 40-100 as standard on these.) This Mustang plays like a dream and is in excellent condition with no scratches or dings that I can see. It has only been used for one set on one gig in our live tribute show, so it's not earning its keep and therefore has to go. Comes complete with bill of sale from original owner and the original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag & case candy. The American Performer Mustang is also another instrument in the line (since the Highway 1 series Jazz/Precision) which utilises the 'Grease Bucket' tone control, which lowers tone without losing bass/volume. Using both P&J pickups with the tone control dimed, it sounds like a hyper-jazz bass. Switch to the split coil and turn the tone down to about 70% & you get a very good traditional Mustang/Precision sound. Solo the bridge single coil, halve the tone and you're in burpy Jaco land. It's a very adaptable bass. I would record you a demo, but I'll let 'Nick Campbell Destroys' do the honours below - he does a much better job than me! For sale at £825. (Recommended retail price on these is now nearly £1400 these days!) Interesting trade options considered. Buyer to collect, or can meet half way at a distance of up to 100 miles (total distance of up to 200 miles from DE7.)

  11. Thanks! It’s a VERY nice Stingray - 1995 2eq velvet satin ash model with Aguilar OBP-2 preamp and Aguilar pickup. It has sustain for days and serious punch that new ones can only dream of. Sadly not for sale ☺️ I’ve got a nice MIM Jazz for sale, though…
  12. When I was teaching full time in Gloucestershire/Wiltshire (80 hours per week) I literally had no time to do any personal practice, but I was playing all the time in people's lessons. Useful for keeping your skills up! Now I'm semi retired, I'm off and at home for five days a week, so I have been literally been playing my Basses (and Cello, DB, Violin, etc) at every opportunity. These days, I usually manage about 1-2 hours a day, whether I'm working on something technical for a recording session, or gig, or just noodling and setting up instruments. I've really enjoyed learning new stuff for the Duo recently. Playing along to the backing tracks is great fun. I don't really look at the Live Multi-Tribute Show stuff, as it's all really easy and I've been playing it for seven years. Also, I learned "Dean Town" by Vulfpeck the other week - still have to read it, though. It's too random to commit fully to memory, unless you wrote it like Joe Dart & co. It reminds me of when I was playing at the peak of my ability at about 22 years old when I was principal DB in the Britten Pears Orchestra - we were all that good because we were playing for up to 15 hours a day! Practice doesn't make perfect - but it does make significantly better! 🤔
  13. "A Music Man Stingray 5's 3-way pickup selector switch offers three distinct tonal settings for the humbucking pickup: series, parallel, and a hum-canceling single-coil mode. Series mode provides the classic, punchy Stingray sound, while parallel offers a thinner, more scooped tone, and single-coil provides a hum-canceling, brighter alternative." So you should have three distinctively different sounds there. I'd take it to your local music shop/tech and get them to have a look at it. It sounds like a simple enough fix, maybe a new blade switch is in order.
  14. Oops. Hopefully Miss Kenworthy saw the funny side and didn't have you all arrested! It does happen. Our Jerry Lee Lewis tribute from the live show once picked up my glasses in a case and they ended up in his clothes bag after a gig. (I often wear prescription sunglasses on stage with the stage lights.) Unintentional post gig exhaustion/kleptomania!
  15. "Excuse me gentlemen, is this the five minute argument, or the full half hour..?"
  16. Not sure if anyone's mentioned them, but Italia were flavour of the month for about five minutes in the late 2000s.
  17. I'd imagine no one mass produces a 2-string nut. For good reason. Well spotted though, Beedster.
  18. This is a great price for one of these. You're getting one of the best pickup sets Fender make, with that nitro finish that lets the bass 'speak'. I've recently acquired a slightly modded one of these and it's a great bass. If I didn't already have one... GLWTS
  19. They had a nice sound as well. Very clean. I've never heard of them, though. I am old.
  20. I think it applies to every mainstream mass produced instrument maker. Yes, sometimes there's the odd standout 'tryhard' like Sire who really make their mark, but if you can, you should try before you buy with anything mass produced. I must admit, I've been very lucky with both Squiers and Fenders over the years. The Mexican stuff from the Ensenada factory in particular has been very impressive over the last few years.
  21. Currently listening to Joe McMoneagle, remote viewer no.1 from Project Stargate on Area 52 on YT.
