1. The manual for my Trace 2 x 10 says that it will happily take twice the RMS rated power so long as it is not clipping. problems occur when people clip their amps by driving them too hard - which then shags (technical term!) the speaker. Another example - my PA speakers - Wharfedale Titan 12's are rated at 250 W RMS. Wharfedale recommend using a 500W amp to drive them. Let your ears be the judge - if they start to fart and flap, you're driving them too hard.
2. Thanks paul - I'm already in touch with Sparky - I think he's after something a little smaller!
3. One now sold - one available One 'no name' 1 x 15 bass cab / sub - not sure what they're supposed to be - but they sound pretty meaty! Well used and the handles are a bit iffy - 200W 8 ohm 'Zomax' drivers Bargain price of £40 collected from Milton Keynes ! I've got 4 of these - two with 4 ohm drivers in - which I'm keeping - I used one of the 4 ohm jobs as an extension to my nemesis 2 x 10 combo at a gig recently and had loads of comments about how good it sounded. This needs a good home soon!
4. Hi there Some recent acquisitions have left me free to let go of my Trace speaker stack which comprises a 1 x15 'Multistack' and a 2 x10. The 1 x 15 is old and a well used but basically sound. It's fitted with castors and an eminence Delta 15 LF speaker - 500W 8 ohms - although I can supply it with the 4 ohm version. The XLR sockets are there but not currently wired in, although it wouldn't be difficult to do this. Jacks work fine Sold The 2 x 10 is newer and in better condition apart from two tears in the carpet on the top - pictured. Sold Open to offers on the 1 x 15 collected from Milton Keynes or can bring to the bass bash
5. Adee - Shame you didn't spot this when dan came to Milton Keynes - you're pretty local ain't ya??!! Col
6. Looks v nice - free bump
7. Simon - Did you get the email I sent you regarding this? Col
8. I like boss stuff - it sounds rich and deep to me. So I bought a GT6B - I thought it would be like a pedal version of the pre on my cube 100B. But the compressors seem to be so harsh - even with only a little sustain. Any tips/settings/thoughts anyone? If only it had a 'cube 100B Compressor' setting! Thanks in anticipation. Col
9. Played at a benefit where Tom Robinson was headlining. After I played, he came over and told me "nice bass playing mate". His own set (a solo set) was superb. Fast forward a few years, and the guitarist i had been playing with passed on - Tom came and played a couple of acoustic numbers at his funeral - nice one!
10. The Zoom pedal is a superb piece of kit - I've tgried numerous 'big' boards but still keep coming back to my 708 - have a free bump matey - I'm tempted to have it myself as a spare!! Col
11. Don't succumb - don't succumb - look into my eyes - don't look around the eyes. I spend my life hung up on gear to the detriment of being hung up on music/theory/technique - the latter is far more important - concentrate on that dude!
12. Cheers Burpster - looked on their site but couldn't find what I wanted - maybe I should ring them!

14.
Little Mark doesnt, the LMK is a different model with two channels
Ahh - I see - said the blind man. Stupid me!! Should have known being a Markbass user....derrrr Col
15. I use a Sennheiser Freeport radio system and use a rechargeable NiMH all the time. I just recharge it after every gig. I make sure to turn the transmitter off between sets. Maplins are currently knocking out 3 200MAh PP3s (NiMH rechargeable) for a tenner. A 'no brainer' if you ask me!
16. Looking for a 250Klog blend pot for a Fender P that's been converted to PJ. WD have got one but it's a bit pricey when you factor in postage - for what you're getting. Any suggestions? Cheers Col
17. Try sticking on a new E string - and leaving more string to wind on the post - so it goes right down. I've got an MM5 - superb bass for the dosh if you pick a good un!
18. I didn't think the Little Mark had two channels. Col
19. Later - not 'ater'!!
20. I've got al ater one of these and it's awesome - can't believe how good the earlier ones must be if they're supposed to be better! Free bump!
21. Padded moveable cushion......!? That must be the unique selling point hee hee! free bump dude!
22. It was me who picked up the RBX 270 - I've had 3 basses from them............ First an Ibanez SR900 - it was mint, listed at £300, I knocked them down to £260. Second was a well used but perfectly good Westone Thunder 1A plus fender hard case for £99. And the best was the RBX 270 for £25. Perfect working order but heavily scratched. I sanded it down and waxed it, shielded the cavity and sold it to a mate for £50. The markup wasn't to make a profit - simply reflected a new set of strings and some labour - and it was a wicked bass. I was so impressed with the quality, I've just bought a BB614. Our local store has a very interesting looking 'Asama' bass - original body shape with a maple neck that is a bit bowed - I'm tempted!! Anyone heard of thes? Anyway - in answer to the original post - yes - you can definately find some bargains in Crack Converters!!
23.
why do I never find anything like that? What do you use to remove the scratches?
Well I never just removed the scratches - I took all the original finish of with a sander for the flat bits, and sandpaper followed by wire wool for the curvy bits. Then i waxed it mant times with beeswax - probably not the most enduring of finishes but it looks nice. Sold it on today, gonna deliver it later this afternoon - didn't make much on it but at least it's been rescued, and a new player will benefit from it.
